I know this is up to me to decide, but I have some AWSOME vids. and turns I wanna show to you guys, in a GOOD quality vid. with music and stuff in the background, like Der Alta said: it must have SOME quality to be worth posting. But my parents (especially my mom) say I shouldn't go overboard with this, cus I have the DFP and GT4 now, after a long argue that I wanted that DFP..........anyway they're sick of it and I wanna buy a vid. capture card. Should I listen to the advice of my parents (I AM allowed to decide eventually) or buy the capture card (wich includes modifying my comp. cheaply IF it doesn't work, pentium 2 with NO graphic card or something) I now this is a bit crap subject, but I just can't decide:indiff:

I didn't post it in the pic/photomode subforum, cause it's about the drifting and I think everyone here knows the importance of a vid. capture card here better, so please don't move it mods:scared:

Hey, I have the wheel and I am cool with it to play with but when it comes to the actual drift I prefer a controller... So just try and find a friend with one and test it out. but the wheel does look cool in your room! :)

I think you all misunderstand me a bit, let me correct it: My parents are sick of me buying things like this cause I've already bought a DFP and GT4, they think that if I want to capture vids. that "I'm getting too obsessed with it" or something, they're right but I'm right too if I want to show an AWSOME vid.

So I already have a DFP and GT4, but my parents think the capture card goes overboard:irked: What should I do?

Edit: nice setup though:sly:

Maybe tell your parents that this is your passion and if they don't let you get a capture card to display your drifts then they are holding back your potential to be artistic and creative. Lol.
So if they want you to be your best they should get it for you.

how much $$$ is the capture card? it cant be more than the DFP. Im moving out in a month and a half and might just have to invest in a card myself.

Nice Eagle Talon seat, I might have to setup something like that once I have a racing wheel.

I >THINK< the average GOOD vid. capture card is about $100?

BreakerOhio: if you have had such understanding parents:tup: But if I come down and say: "mom, about that vid. ca..
Mom japping thrue it:" Your not going to start with that game are you??!"
and I'm like: "oke:indiff:......" and go back upstairs to think of another way to say it:banghead: or after I have tried like 20 times to just ask a simple question, she totally freaks out and starts screaming and stuff, just because "I keep on asking things to her" while a simple anwser when I first asked it could have solved all problems:banghead: I'm almost FORCED to go and get the thing myself not telling her and when the final date to get your money back is passed, I tell it to her and theres NO way she is gonna return it to the store. It seems like th only way:indiff: And my parents are divorced (why:dunce: it was going so well:dunce: >NOT< ) so my dad isn't really here all the time.

HHHHEHEEEE:catches breath desperatly::lol:ANYWAY, I think it's clear that I won't be able to talk to her anymore, so I just buy it on my own, or don't buy it (I'm sure I WILL buy it though) I just wanna know your opinions:)

Are you wanting to buy it with YOUR own money, or are you asking THEM to buy it for you? My advice: Get a job, and buy whatever you feel like buying.

You could get a Dazzle to capture videos from your PS2, X-box, camcorder, or VCR. THe dazzle is only $40-$50.
Dazzle

So is this how a vid. capture card looks like? Oke, I'll try to find it, now one BIG advantage then is, that it is for the PS2 and not for in the pentium 2 computer I think,
Lethalchem: hehe I'm just getting a job at a local supermarket:D So I will get the money, I'm thinking of just buying it (own money yeah, but it comes from my parents partly, the money that I have) without argueing, just saying that I'm going to the local shops/stores whatever. I will get it!!!:) Just the pentium 2 is a bit of a problem now, thanks for the opinions

This isnt a capture card. Its a video capture device and it really doesnt matter what PC you have at all. One end plugs into your PC and at the other end you plug your PS2 into it. It comes with software that allows anything you play to the Dazzle to be captured to the PC. You can take screenshots or videos. You can also just capture sound clips. I do that a lot for movies so I can post the funny sound clips.

do you have the dazzle? Ive heard a few people reccomend it Im probably going to go buy it this weekend, just wondering if you had any opinions about it.

Yes I have one. All the videos or sound clips that I post are from the dazzle. You can even adjust how detailed you want the videos. If you want them really small for online then it allows you to do that. Or if you want them huge and fully detailed you can do that too. 👍 I highly recommend the Dazzle. :)
I think ive had mine for over 2 or 3 years now and love it. Especially when you plug in the S-Video cords. A lot better detail.

Thanks dude, that helps me a lot:D:tup: This is the most usefull advice I have ever had except for the how-to-drift-advice from ALL of you:):D:tup:

Edit: I have even done the impossible: convinced my mom that it's easy, pretty cheap, and I don't have to ask things to her for a LOONG period of time:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:tup:
If it is for me, this thread is closed:D:D But maybe you guys have some more advice or something you wanna show me/others or something, so it's not a request for the mods.:D I HAVE A SOLUTION NOW though:D:D:D:D

Well I HAVE to work for some time (starting in April) just for the money, but it's just a matter of time before I can make some vids:D

PS. can it log onto any computer? Like Apple/Macintosh?

exactly what i wanted to hear. I might not get any videos together cause i need to concentrate on getting packed up (moving in a month and a half) but once i get settled in at the new place....:D

Nope. And I'd advise you not to say that you been knocking back drinks. Potential ban and all :)

What software you guys are yusing to capture the video image? so that i could play on my comp. screen?

I don't know if you already have a vid. capture card, and need software, but if still thinking to buy a capture you probably get software with it, and most use WMV to edit it, and I use IMovie for the Mac (I will use it)
