Now, a little story:
I receive my Dazzle by post or I bought it in a local store, I install the software that obviously came with it. Then when I want to make a vid. I'll put my PS2 in the other room together with my computer, I'll put an electricity cable in a....don't-know-the-name-of-that-plug-in-the-wall and I put the RCA cable into the Dazzle and I put the black cable of the Dazzle in the computer. I open (or it is done automatically) the software program, and after a bit of clicking, I come onto a screen where I can select something from the PS2's data in it(?) Then SOMEHOW I find a button so that it eventually is placed on my desktop and then I can begin editing and compressing:D:tup:

Now this is ALL you have to do isn't it, no need for a TV..................:D:D:D

Alll of that is correct besides the part where it sais to look for the memory card. On the monitor you will see whatever is on your PS2. Basically you will need to also have your game in just like if you were going to play it on a TV but instead it will appear on your monitor. Its way easier than you can imagine.
INstead of the image showing up on your TV with the RCA cables, it will be on your PC monitor.

mines the Dazzle Digital Video Creator 80 and its black. They had the 90 that Camaroboy69 posted above on best buys website, but only had the 80 at the store. Same price. There Is also a Dazzle DVC 150 that costs about twice as much as the 80. Not too sure about the differences though, out of my price range.

I dont have school tonight, so I am going to make a conscious effort to play around with the program for a while, maybe capture an average drift lap at trial mountain and make a simple first video. will keep you guys posted.

Great, post the vid. onto this thread as well:D I love vids.:sly: I think I'm gonna buy the 80 or the 90, not the 150 (out of my price tag aswell) Also report ANY problems or difficulties you have that are not planned in my little story above.

sure do, fulltime job 7:00am-4:00pm during the day, and night classes 3 days a week. Year round classes too, only a week off between each quarter. Graduating this september then I will have all my nights off.

I decided I didnt like REAL college, so I got a job with Toll Brothers (american luxury home builder) doing autocad work. working on an associates degree in autocad at ITT tech is whats eating up all my weeknights but i was lucky to find a program with exactly what i want to do.

just waiting for more $$$ once i get the degree :sly:

How is the sound quality on the Dazzle? Is it stereo/still has that surround sound to it?

you can capture with mono or stereo sound (not too sure about surround) but then when you convert the final project into a video file there are different compression options. I believe my final vid is compressed stereo, but I could compress to mono if I wanted to make it a little smaller.

I use the avermedia ezmaker dvd pci. It captures video only (no audio on the card), up to 720x480. The audio I just run right into my soundcard so its not a problem. For $27 you really can't go wrong and it does capture nicely since it does both composite and s-video. Here is a link www.amazon.com

You either don't have the audio feature on that model or there is one but you haven't connected it. Either way if you have that feature or not just find or pick up and audio cable that has RCA red and white on one end of the cable and on the end of the other side make sure it's a phono plug like what you'd see on your headphones but make sure it has too black rings because that signifies that it's stereo. Hope you under stood all that because I don't remember the exact cable name that you need. RCA to Stereo phone? :dopey:

BTW, if you guys are looking for good deals and like ebay please don't pass this up here I've posted this countless other places too.

Ok well i have the 80 so i assume yours is a step above mine. I had audio issues and didnt figure out what the problem was until my vid was done :ouch:

ok, so go to your setup menu, and select "Capture Source..." If your recieving and can capture a video feed then your video is obviously set to the proper device. you need to make sure your audio is set to capture from the same device. for some reason my audio was set to capture from the telephone line, which isnt even hooked up on my computer! strange, but now mine works. hopefully your problem is something that simple too.

I found this on amazon.co.uk and it was written in a review:

Looks good but doesn't do half of what it claims, April 14, 2003

Bought this little gizmo after reading the discription of it that it can capture from camcorder, vcr and tv and the fact that it was usb meant I didn't have the trouble of installing it internally. Once I had it up and running I tried testing it out by trying to capture from the vcr but no joy, only a black image appeared on my screen. I soon realised that it can only capture the av signal which doesn't include tapes or tv. Although online descriptions claim it can capture from all devices it sadly isn't true. The dazzle Digital Video Creator 80 is only meant for camcorders and no where on the packaging does it claim it can do anything else. The software that it comes with is also pretty poor with very few options apart from where you want to save your file and the record button. Conclusion: if you want to capture from a tv or video then go for the dazzle fusion which can do all and is only £10 more in price.

Now MY PS2 is not "broadcasted" to channel "AV" but to "Exit 1." Is this a problem as stated above?

just got my video capture card in the mail a couple hours ago. try it out, so far so good. Fantastic quality, comes with a video studio editor.. and dang only costed me 26 bucks (usd).. not bad 👍 expecting to make better quality vids :)

forgot to mention what i got:
avermedia DVD EZMaker Pro PCI from Amazon.com

Sorry I didnt read this post over the weekend to help you out. Did you get it fixed yet? You wont hear the sound come thru unti you replay your video. So just do a quick 3 second test video then make sure your settings for your audio are set up properly. Make sure it isnt set for "microphone" or something like that. Also are you using "s-video" or RCA cables?
