I decided the soundtrack on GT5 just wasn't up to scratch (way off the quality of previous versions, with a few notable exceptions) and set about putting my own music on.
Christ, I wish I hadn't bothered! What a frustrating exercise, and it's still not over!
1) Copied a few albums from computer to flash drive. Plugged drive into PS3.
2) PS3 reports no music on my USB device. After a lot of research, find out it can't see any high quality formats (in this case .aif).
3) Downgrade the music to MP3. PS3 can see it! Yahoo. Then I have to "copy" it to a playlist. Fair enough. Bit antique, but still, it seemed to work.
4) Options in GT5.....
...... wtf is the "group" option??? Clicked it, hoping to select full album.
5) Race... nice Bentley exhaust sounds, no ferkin music.
6) Ha.... a little button to "enable personal music".
7) Go to race. No ferkin music.
8) Find that there's a completely separate volume control for "personal music".... are they serious????
9) eventually have one track of the 13 track album playing....
Honestly, the user interface is straight out of DOS. I think Polywhatsit are forced to follow a really ancient set of coding rules.
I also think that GT5 was delayed because they were waiting for PS4, but it didn't arrive and so were stuck and had to chuck out what they could on an ageing platform..... any thoughts??
