I think it's fine. Although it is frustrating that the ratio of expensive to cheap seems to vary so much. At times there's tons of expensive cars and I can't buy them all, then I go forever without seeing one multimillion dollar car.

Well, at least one thing the UCD does right, price variation according to the mileage and the fact that you can buy cars with very low or very high mileage is spot on. 👍

Yeah, there's definitely that too.

I see people talking about realism... I don't really see the UCD as a realistic or not realistic aspect of the game. I see it as a GTism.

I could say both no It's fun or Other reasons however I put other reasons because I'm worried there will be too many n00bs driving around in the most high powered cars. No one wants that!

When was the last time a used car salesmen told you that he couldn't sell you the car, because it was illegal to sell anyone lower then level 24 this car? :p

If we're talking video game, anything is fair play. If we're talking realism, having the UCD salesmen your best buddy only makes sense. ;)

Here is your used car salesman.

Even though that's a workaround ^^^^, people will complain that THAT ^^ should be in the game. Then, the realism thing will be brought up, again. blah blah blah

Thanks a lot for that link, by the way. I really need it.

Why?
It's not like it takes skill to level up in this game, so what's the point?

If they actually made you become a better and better driver to level up, I'd agree, but they don't.
I'd rather earn it by putting in the time.

With my previous post, I didn't mean to sound so dictatory. It would have sounded weird if I used "I", instead of "you".

It's a "USED CAR DEALERSHIP" you shouldn't be able to buy whatever you want, only what they have in stock.
That's exactly how I feel. The bad part about it is that I've been waiting months and months and months for the R390 "Road" Car (I KNOW this happens to other people). That's why I think there should be a LEVEL system IF they take out the UCD, which they should.

That's excelent to read. You waited MONTHS for the R390 Road Car? And now you finally got it, I bet you'll value it much more than some other cars because you looked for it, you waited for it, starving to drive this beauty...

I think this should happen a lot more on GT series, with these exclusive cars. Like the black beauties in GT4... if it gets too easy, it gets boring soon.

lol I DON'T have it. I have a used race version of it, though. Which to me, isn't greater than having the "road" version.

The stealth/black cars should definitely be the kind of cars where you have to wait to get them.

Exactly, it gets boring soon, like getting everything handed to you. It isn't nearly as satisfying.

Well, keep looking for it then... it appeared for me around 2 weeks ago!

Why bother? You're narrow-minded? Everything gotta be explained precisely enough for you?

Finally added him on my ignore list. Only one.

It would be nice if you explained your reasoning for supporting something that has been one of the most loathed things about the game since it came out (and it isn't as if the problems with it aren't well documented); nevermind your advocating making it even more obnoxious than it already is.

No skin off my nose.

I wonder how much longer I have to wait for the R390 "Road" Car. I'm going to use that "USED CAR DEALERSHIP SEARCH" after I finish cleaning up from that amazing climax I REACHED when I added that dude to my ignore list.

No because you never know when you're gonna need to make a late night Veyron run.

Way to, you know, not be narrow minded.

That's really why I wasn't saying my idea HAS to be implemented. Everybody plays differently and my idea was completely personal, but there's always the Arcade mode we have now that could go along with my idea. ;)

Wait, I'm confused. Your (personal) proposal is that should the UCD be removed (which won't hap--you know, this is PD we're talking about, so I won't even go there) that you ought to required, by the game, to only obtain a car once you've reached a specific level?

So, basically, you want something similar to the first time the X1 is unlocked for purchased in the NCD at Level 30... only, you can't purchase it until Level 40. And that makes sense to you? You're essentially countering one awkwardly-skewed method with another awkwardly-skewed method.

I think it should be buy whatever; whenever. Largely because I've been looking for a Lotus Motorsport Elise for almost a year (I don't want to take it from someone else). Still don't have one. :grumpy:

For me I like the UCD concept. It was there since the very 1st GT title, so I don't think PD will abandon this feature anytime soon. Besides it's pretty much what gives car collecting its luster in the game, and a unique & differentiated feature from other driving games. But it is loosely related to catching Pokemon :p However it can be a pain, like for Skython's situation for the Motorsport Elise (I think I have one :p). Although in the end it can be very satisfying when it spawns in a neat slot. For me I'd rather not loose that feeling.

I honestly got fed up with the UCD a long time ago during the first few months the game was out. I just finally resorted to duping and trading to get some of the cars I wanted, and I don't regret it one bit. Saved me a heck of a lot of trouble.

Some of the horror stories I read here about waiting for one particular car in the UCD to show up are stunning. Having to wait several months to get at least one car you really want is ridiculous to me. If some people like the waiting game, that's perfectly fine. But I just want to drive my favorite cars already, mainly because this game's offline mode is horrendously short and I just want something to do. If this game had a nice, long single player like GT3 and GT4, I don't think I would've been in such a hurry to get certain cars I wanted.

But anyway, I doubt the UCD will change at this point, even though I would like it to. I just hope this system is never used again in GT6 and beyond.

With the LEVEL system we have now + Seasonal Events, 90% of the cars will be unlocked/drivable in a day for most people. ME, it'll take a week.

I didn't mean keep that exact same way of leveling up. A LEVEL system isn't saying I want the exact same system we have now.

I 🤬 hate waiting. I'm really, really, really impatient. I get a bit crappy anxiety from it, actually. This is a video game though. It's the only video game that I've enjoyed for this long. I don't get anxiety for waiting for a car for months, but I am pissed.

So how are you gonna get the cars needed to do the Seasonals if they are locked?

And yet, when I asked you about it:
Keep the LEVEL system we have now?? ? ? ?
Which is perhaps why I asked you about it in the first place.

💡

imo the UCD was designed like it was to keep people playing the game longer.

and like others have said, it makes finally getting that one car you've been searching for even more satisfying

I agree with that ^^^. It's not like the UCD's initial goal was to be "immediate" fun. For many reasons, that's a really bad thing. But for those that play GT games for the long run, it's not "a really bad thing". It's just unfortunate. That's why it should be gone. Not everybody is a long-term GT player. That's why there should be a better implemented LEVEL system.

I think it should just change a bit. They should just limit the number of vehicles from one era/country etc. Yesterday I checked my UCD and from the 30 cars, 26 of them were japanese, 10 of them were miatas/rx-7/gt-rs and alot of every day vehicles.

I think it would be much better if were something like this, 12 japanese cars + 6 amercian + 6 european + 6 classics/race cars

I actually kind of like how the UCD works, the one thing i would maybe change is to add a "Reserve Car" option, ie if you see that multimillion credit LM car you've been waiting for but don't have the credits you need (although with the current B-spec seasonal payouts that seems unlikely), you reserve it and lock it into the UCD until you have the dosh.
