My wife and I have been using the iTouch to stream Netflix while using the elliptical machine and decided we wanted a larger display so I just bought a Vizio (shocker for me, I know) M221V.

The reviews are right - the speakers suck. Thankfully we'll just be using headphones as I really don't need the kids hearing the things that come out of Deb's mouth on Dexter or Penn & Teller: Bull:censored:. :lol:

I feel slightly violated on the price of the smart cover, but with our lot it's pretty much mandatory.

Orange do some really nice tarrifs for ultra-low use. And if she's out & about, with no Orange signal, I can use the Personal Hotspot on my iPhone to tether it.

damn, yeah i would feel violated also, 50 quid for a bloody cover! but seriously £638 for a tablet and a cover is way way too much and a rip off imo, you could get a tablet that does basically the same stuff and just as good for half the price, just as usual Apple products are overpriced as hell and they can get anyway with it cause people will still buy them, unless someone is loaded or has plenty of money to waste, then the price isn't an issue.

no offence intended, just my general thoughts mate.

You can't bash the man and then say he wasted his money after he already got them item. Just saying "no offense" doesn't somehow make your post ok.

Totally untrue.

Crysis and Warhead were much prettier and better games.
 
Wife wanted a tablet and this seemed more favourable to my wallet when measured up against an ipad.

Apparently the multiplayer is already suffering from exploits. Someone found you can edit some files for suit stats and power drain and it will translate into multiplayer.

Though I guess that was never really the point of the Crysis games.

Syntax, curious about how that tablet performs... lots of options on the market at the moment and a lot of mixed reviews.

Just waiting for delivery & should be in my sweaty palms in the next few days. I'll do a little write up in the Computers, Electronics & The Internet subforum once I've had a good play with it. I'm a little apprehensive about it but my wife mostly just wants to brows the web without having to get the laptop out each time, so I thought at a bare minimum, it should manage that without too much difficulty.

I have been doing a lot of digging around as I couldn't justify the asking price for an Ipad. Even a used first gen 16gig on ebay is going for more than this one and it doesn't come with SD card slot & hdmi port. Anyway, I'll let you know how it turns out.

Yeah, well since they are selling them quicker than they can make them it would be bloody stupid of them to lower the price. Also, comparable tablets from Tier 1 manufacturers will not be much cheaper.

no not really, and I'm not trying to bash you directly, I was just giving my general opinion on it, what ever way you care to spend you own money is up to you...
yeah i'm far for an apple fan as you may guess from my post but that's way I look at it. I could just find a million better ways to spend 600 odd quid than buying a ipad 2.

apple is basically a fashion item in my eyes, I've no doubt that people actually buy them to show them off and say 'Hey look I've an ipad/iphone, i'm cool!' or whatever. I don't think there is anything special about them, the specs you get for the price on them ain't anything special or x1000's better than its rival products. sure they may have their pros over other products in the same market but like everything else they also have their cons

Anyway i'm not a fan of tablets in general, for me they are some what pointless, its just a random thing to fill the gap in between a phone and a laptop. I seen a business guy on the train sitting across from me when i was in the UK in Feb and he spend about 30 mins consistently have to move and adjust his fancy ipad in attempt to get it sitting at an angle he wanted it to sit, in the end he just gave up and put it back in its cover pouch thing, if he had a normal laptop or netbook he wouldn't have such issues.

I agree with you on almost all points. My point was that the guy came here to announce his purchase and that he was happy with it, somewhat, and there you came pissing on his fire, so to speak. And for what? Just to announce your hatred for apple?
It wasn't the place to do it.
 
well ok i seen your point and it may of looked like that, but it wasn't my general intention to come here and bluntly 'piss on his fire'. If his purchase makes himself happy then thats what matters.
Same goes if i bought something I want/like and someone turned around and said how rubbish or crap it was, i couldn't care less on what they say.

plus i only noticed today there was a thread already on ipad's, so if i would have known it existed prior to posting here, i would have posted my comments in that thread and not in reply to someone's purchase.
