Got tickets for the Formula 1 exhibit next week which I‘m already extremely looking forward to!

I also got a few things from the current PSN sale: Dead Island 2 together with two friends for coop play and the Borderlands 3 and Ghost Recon Wildlands DLCs (two of my favorite coop games).

I bought some trainers last month. I've got far too many pairs now for summer and none for winter.

Just pulled the trigger on this fully serviced SL-1210Mk2.

Serviced by the experts over at Master Sounds who know the SLs like the backs of their hands.

IMG_0257.webp

Being a secondhand TT it has a little wear on the front, also a small crack in the lid. If you’re into these legendary TTs then you should look into Master Sounds. They have a YT channel too.

I wasn’t planning on spending this much on a TT but an SL is a Unicorn for myself so when I was gifted the ability due to my parents for my birthday I didn’t think twice.

Ok sorry for the double post but just picked up a Graham Slee Novo unused from eBay for half the price of new.

IMG_0266.webp

The seller had it on last week for £180 inc delivery. It ran out on the Auction so put back up at £150 with the delivery which they normally run at £280 direct from Graham Slee and have a two week lead time on manufacture.

I bought a pair of 1200 M3D's in 1999 and still have them...recently decided to do a deep clean and oiling of the motor since I've never done it in the 25yrs I had them...crazy when I opened up the platter and found how caked with dust and grime had accumulated I was kind of embarrassed for not doing it sooner. I have them under dust covers 24-7 but they still got gnarly on the inside.

Apparently these turntable are considered antiques....so good luck with maintenance and care

Yeh, they’re getting long in the teeth now.

Thankfully the chap who does the servicing on them for Master Sounds is actually someone I know who used to run Leeds Pro Audio, so I might able to hit him up if and when. If not I can package back up and send down to them if needed.

Just had another TT delivered by my old man, has the SME3009 attached so tomorrow is a day of cleaning and dismantling it. I’ll pop some pics up in the Audiophile Thread.

Cross-posting from the “What Music Did You Buy” thread.

I got this today. 青春歌年鑑 50年代 総集編 (Seishun Song Yearbook 50's Highlights). About 25 years ago, all of Japan’s major record labels got together to issue a very ambitious CD series that collected all the best and most important songs of each year from 1970 to 1990. Each year was a double CD with 30 songs. Every label contributed and every label was responsible for specific years. It was so successful, they did a follow up set of the same years but as a single CD with 15 more songs each. I bought mine from the Kinokuniya book store in Seattle, one or two every payday. The Japanese ladies behind the counter would look at me in disbelief when I went to pay for them. “You really like these?” “Yes. I really like them”. Then they released another series that covered the ‘60s, so I got them, too. And now, more than 20 years later, I find they did a series that covered 1946 to 1959, so I’m working on them. This is a highlight set that covers that series. I had to use a third party, Worldshopper, to buy it from Tower Records. But I’m glad I did. It’s full of gems.

And here’s a photo that shows the initial release set. Notice the many different labels on the spines. This isn’t my photo, but I have all of these. In fact I just found the box I had in storage for a decade that has all these.

A couple of weeks ago I had a TLC itch so scratched it with these:

This week I went for RHCP. Not my usual mod/soul/RnB style but as I watched a lot of MTV in the 90s/00s I always liked them. Got these 3 off one seller on Discogs for less than £20:

I'm going to need a third CD shelf soon. This isn't going to plan.

That’s the problem/fun with collecting physical media. Earlier today I thought I’d have a look through my Discogs list and…

Oops, I wasn’t supposed to spend that much, but it happens very easily.

I'm the same with dvds and blu rays (especially TV series).
When I die I wont be buried in a coffin, I'll be buried in a 6 disc boxset...

I had about 300 CD's and before I moved 7 years ago I downloaded them on my computer. Sold them to a local shop because I just didn't have room for them in the new place. Got a new computer last summer. 4 months after I got it the hard drive failed and I lost everything because I didn't do a backup. Oh well.

unfortunately I have an issue with DVD/Bluray/UHD too.

Have around 200 DVDs, 250 Blu-ray and 200 UHD. I also gave away around 300 Blurays a few years back to a friend who’d just had a baby with his wife and he was on night duty so needed something to watch while with the baby.

Yep, CDs got me too and still have them also, however only have about 200 and those are included in my Discogs collection.

Books, comics, Magic The Gathering cards… you name it I’ve probably collected it at some point. Thing is, I then tend to give stuff to friends etc. however I’ve had my use from them and if they bring joy to another person then I’m happy with this… my bank balance isn’t though.

I now have enough CDs to warrant an actual CD player..

...which led to me picking up this Onkyo 6-disc CD player from a local audio store. So far I've had no problems with it, and it was a quick plug-and-play into my Edifier speakers.

Along with the CD player, these are some of my more noteworthy pickups over the last month or so:

While I'm extremely happy to have a Casiopea record and 2 of the 4 Samurai Champloo records in my collection, of all of these, I find myself putting on Deftones' Covers and Lord Finesse's SP1200 Project pretty frequently.

In the case of the latter, it helps immensely that the last 2 tracks are instrumentals off of Big Ls Lifestylez Of Da Poor & Dangerous.

I thought this was a VCR at first glance. I thought "Who's out here still buying VCRs?" which was immediately followed up with "Who's out here still selling VCRs?"
At least in my area, quite a few folks, seemingly. Whenever I have time to visit a weekend pop-up market, there's usually at least 1 person selling VHSs to some degree.

I know a guy that, at one point, was to VHS collecting what @Sprite is to music. IIRC, he sold the majority of his stuff a few years ago, and strictly sticks to collecting wrestling VHSs.
