A couple of my Patreon rewards arrived this week. First is the quarterly commission I get from Joe Pekar. I’ve noticed over the last couple years that artists on Bluesky have been drawing their OCs in golden bikinis to celebrate Golden Week in Japan. #GoldenBikiniWeek. I get a commission every April, and Golden Week starts on April 29th this year, so I asked Joe to draw his orc OC Bren’duhh in a golden bikini. I thought it would look great against her green skin, and I was right. This image is SFW, but I’m still putting it behind a spoiler just in case.

Second is this 4x6 print of Zatanna from Mike Maihack. He has a support level called the mini print club. Every couple months, his followers vote for the recent artwork he’s created, and the winner gets a short print run on specialized paper and he mails them out. He doesn’t sell them in his online store or at cons. It’s exclusive to his Patreon supporters.

I have a small collection, now. I’ve framed them all.
L>R: Hawkgirl with a metallic sheen for the background; Supergirl and Batgirl with a spot gloss; another Supergirl and Batgirl with a spot gloss; Zatanna with a pearlized finish; She-Hulk with pearlized coating; Merry Christmas. (The Merry Christmas print isn’t a part of the mini print club, it’s just an extra he sent out last December.)

The next print has already been voted on. It will be Magik from the X-Men.

Picked up two Pair of new RCA at 0.5m length.

Due to diminishing returns I think over expensive cables are a waste of good money.

However I also feel something well made is a worthwhile investment. Being a Chord Company fan, I’ve always used their bottom of the line cables from RCA to HDMI and they have served me well.

These replace a 1m version and a 0.5m other Chord cable which sounded too bright and clinical.

These shorter lengths should keep resistance down and signal clean. Now for the burn in phase.

Picked up a Dayton DSP-408 on a restock deal for $109:

It's a four in/eight out DSP box. The 44+ y/o passive crossovers in my mains likely don't crossover the way they used to and I've always wanted to do an active crossover network. This is step 1, and the garage is gonna sound amazing, lol.

In the end it will be an Adcom 545 on tweeters, a 545 on mids, a 555 on woofers (mains: EPI A240's w/ dome mids added) and an EV CPS-1 running a pair of 12" subs (Infinity Kappa Perfects from my car audio days). Got all the pieces, now all I need to do is build stuff. I am going to brace/chamber the two 10's in the EPI's while I'm hacking up the cabs for the mids. Coolest part is, the factory grills have enough clearance for the mids so they'll look completely stock.👍

We'll see how the neighbors hold up.😁

Audio wires need to be burned in?
It’s a whole big debate of do they, don’t they.

I have personally noticed the C-Line cable I have (1.0m length) after some hours of use, it relaxed a little in sound and was less edgy.

Futureshop offer a burn in service for cabling but I like to do it myself and see what kind of a difference it makes.

The cables I picked up are also directional too which is in of itself another controversy.

I need things for my new apartment, so I ordered them off the IKEA website and then drove to the store to pick them up. I’m going to do it this way from now on. It took less than five minutes from the moment I pulled up to them bringing me my order. The woman who brought it out was professional and friendly, and didn’t make me feel like I was inconveniencing her by making her do her job.

Green bath mat to match my shower curtain.

Plates, cups, bowls, and cutlery. These are designed for children, but they’re easy to clean, they fit in my tiny microwave, won’t break, and the high sides on the plates to help keep the food on them is useful for anyone, regardless of age.

Kitchen knife and spatula.

4x6 picture frames. Two each of black, white, green and blue. I would have had the order delivered, but the blue and green frames are in-store purchase or pickup only. They’re also listed as “last chance”. That makes me think they’re discontinuing them in those colors.

So with the new Power Supply coming I needed to pick up a power cable for it (doesn’t ship with one) as I didn’t have a spare kicking about in my old-man box of cables (rats nest).

Picked up a relatively decent shielded one. Again doing things on a low-ish budget I won’t pay £200 for one, but didn’t want to pick up on for a few £’s either.

I also picked up a 13amp fuse too. Now this is a stab in the dark verging on snake oil buy but for a minimal cost and free shipping I thought I’d give it a whirl.

Some people think that audiophile fuses are total nonsense others swear by them. I’ll reserve judgment until I’ve tested it.

Welp, it's Record Store Day today! Admittedly, there wasn't too much on the release list that got my attention, but there was one exception...

20260418_124708.webp

Saturday Teenage Kick by Junkie XL, with the vinyls themselves being pressed in a dark Sea Blue color.

I'll be honest, most of my attachment to this one comes from hearing select tracks in NFS High Stakes and Gran Turismo 3, so nostalgia played a heavy role here.

Also my CD pickups this week:

Considering that Lifestylez by Big L is a highly popular album that at minimum goes for $150-$200 on vinyl, I was more than a little ecstatic seeing the CD out in the wild, let alone for $12.

Garbage, the second best band ever in the world IMHO  Well done!

I came to cut you up, I came to knock you down
I came around to tear your little world apart
I came to shut you up, I came to drag you down
I came around to tear your little world apart and break your soul apart

People of good taste 👌
Though I think that must be a remastered version? The original CD cover from 1995 looks like [digs through CD collection] this:

New wax.

I didn’t go to RSD as I’m trying to avoid big crowds. So I took a trip in today. They still had some ones I wanted to pick up.

Plus picked up a new copy of Neuromancer (not sure where my original copy disappeared to) I hate this cover.
