I did a thing yesterday.

Deposit has been paid and now the wait begins. I think it will be worth it. You only live once, might as well enjoy it.

I had been sticking to my boycott of US goods (mainly due to the stupid tariff situation) but when this came up I had to cave. I've previously missed out on the Mach 1 and the last shipment of Dark Horses so I wasn't going to miss out when the opportunity came up for this in exactly the specs I wanted.

I also haven't really felt comfortable with my decision to punish all Americans for the stupidity of a few of late. Especially knowing it was hurting a lot of the wrong people, and so many over there despise them and everything they've been doing as much as I do.

Grabbed a couple cds I really like to add to my ipod, which let me finally delete Spotify! A real mix of genres, and artists lol

I also had the opportunity to get a super cool fountain pen the other night! This is by Surrokko Pens, out of New Zealand. Very, very unique design, and I got an amazing deal from a friend for it!

Nice.

I recently got a LG C5 65 inch, that was only because Panasonic don't sell OLED's here in Aus anymore.
I really rate Panasonic TV's going all the way back to their Plasma's. My outgoing Panasonic OLED from 2019 which is now on bedroom duties still holds up today on picture quality against the LG C5 apart from brightness.
The C5 uses the same LG evo panel, only difference is it doesn't have a heatsink. I was going to get that size when I upgraded from a Sony 55" 4K Curved 3D TV before but only way to guarantee with the Sony model was to get the 77" so ended up getting that. Seemed massive when I first got it but now used to it but still think a 65" would have been a better size for the room. I am glad the model I got didn't have a heatsink, helped keep weight down and a bit more manageable mounting it. OLED TVs are a lot more fragile than LCD ones so need to be quite careful with moving them.

I like that Panasonic and Sony aim for creator's intent and reference quality. Panasonic have stopped being available in the UK too recently in general but I think it might pick up again with the transition to Skyworth. I was lucky to get 55" direct from Panasonic, not seen it available since from any retailer so got lucky. I think Skyworth started selling TVs again in Australia so there is a chance you might be able to buy Panasonic TVs in the future. Also have 48" LG CX OLED TV in a bedroom and, you are right, picture quality is very similar as after all, they are still LG WOLED panels, main differences being is a bit better durability and efficiency allowing for higher brightness with the evo panels. In a way, the smaller panels actually look better due to the higher pixel density.

One thing that I find is impressive is how much input lag has come down on the new TVs, the Panasonic I got only has about 8.9ms input lag at 4K 60Hz and 4.9ms input lag at 120Hz, that is very competitive and very close to the minimum expected lag at them refresh rates.

My monthly Patreon reward from Yoshi Yoshıtani just arrived. Three 4x6 prints whose subject matter and color palette are inspired by the Florence + the Machine album Lungs. I had to take the photo of it in its frame at an angle because otherwise it would be all reflections.
