I'm not exactly happy with the online mode; it crashes frequently, i get stuck in race watch mode and then have to quit the game to get out, the hosts are idiots and rarely set proper regulations; but one bright spot for me is the shuffle mode. Basically if you have not played it yet, what it does is gives everyone a random (and fairly equal), and so what you get are very exciting races. Its more interesting for than 1 make races as the cars are different and do perform differently, but not to the point where 1 guy has a clear advantage.

So anyways, I was just wondering why is this game mode so unpopular. I mean rarely see it. I think if PD expands the shuffle mode (right now, I think there are only lower end street cars available), this could become a hit. Any other fans out there of this mode?

I don't join shuffle races because I want to select and set up my own choice of car, not use somebody elses. That's just taking away a lot of advantage I have in a race.

That is why I like it. Nobody has a advantage. Its all based on driver skill.

Then join a room which has everyone using the same car. I don't want someone else using my carefully chosen and tuned car and then beating me with it.

Well you could say that what makes a great racer is his ability to use any car and perform well, to say that you are uncomfortable using a car that isn't "yours" is to be unsure of your own abilities.

Nope. Just don't want to be driving a worse car than the one I'd personally selected and tuned for the occasion.

Does anybody know if there is a way to get the Shuffle mode to choose slightly better cars with sports tyres. Some friends and I tried this mode and we really like it, but it gets tiresome only getting slow cars on comfort tyres.

The shuffle lobbies are also my favorite. I spent several hours in one yesterday and overall a pretty good group of racers. The ruberband "boost" feature took some getting used to thats for sure. If you see a lobby with boost on it helps the players in the back catch up to the players in the front. This can be frustrating and also helpful at times.

So where do the cars come from for shuffle mode? The arcade only list? Or just a random selection of similar specced cars from the 1000 the game has?

Used this for a second time the other day online but have the same complaint as above, it only uses lower end cars on comfort soft tyres. The first track we chose the other day was LeMans no chicane and when we saw the cars it gave us we went back to the lobby and chose a different track.

If they update it to allow you to choose a BHP spread and Tyre Choice, this will be a lot of fun.

I also love this mode. If you have a hard time finding a race thats already going try hosting a room for a shuffle race yourself. they seem to fill quickly since there aren't many usually.

To address the question of how to change the tires, i'm fairly certain they're locked on comfort tires, which isn't too bad once you get use to it.
There's also a slider that selects the shuffle ratio 0-10, I tend to set it to 9 or 10 (I'm still not fully shure of what this slider does) and I've gotten some decent cars like RX-7's, S2000's, NSX's, also chosing rally tracks brings all wheel drive cars with them. I think track selection has alot to do with the car selection.

A race I did yesterday had one player getting an NSX for every race until he left the room, it was like 6 or 7 times in a row. Nobody else would get one it was pretty odd.

It's really fun if you get a fun car to drive. Most can be fun there are few understeering pigs with no horsepower whatsoever which are not really nice to drive. But that's just part of the fun. Make do what you have 👍

This sounds like a fun way to do it! I still haven't raced online as I get the feeling it's all about who has the fastest car, so I will try this Shuffle mode when I decide to go online :)

Unfortunately, as of now the car selection for shuffle mode is horrible. I mean I have played it a lot now, and the best car I have seen was a 90s NSX. Not a bad car, but not a high end car.

PD, please please expand shuffle mode. Please have a shuffle mode for maybe NASCAR, WRC, Super GT, Group C, DTM, LMP, LM GT only. Imagine playing a room where every race, everyone gets a random Super GT car. Also, we need to be able to select car level, meaning we can use lower end cars only or higher end as well.

Sorry to drag an old post up but searching tthe forums for an answer i didnt want to start a new thread

After joining a shuffle server mid race does anyones game freeze when the race finishes, I can stll hear people talking but the game is just frozen its fine if im already in server before race starts just not mid race...This has become very frustrating as it happens even on servers in the same country as me with 5 bars and stars meaning best connection

I love the closeness of shuffle racing which at the moment is slightly spoiling my enjoyment by this bug :( also many many people im friends with seem to have this problem so it doesnt appear to be my setup alone

p.s no patch shouting from me just curious if im alone with this problem? :)

Yup, happens to me as well. I freeze when I join mid race and then have to force quit the game.

dude they are all stock, not tuned lol - that's what makes it fair

to each his own I guess

I've never done shuffle races. From my understanding, the cars and tracks are random. If that's right, I will never do those races. I much prefer going to organized races with specific limits. If my mood changes, I'll simply move to another room. There aren't really any glaring advantages/disadvantages in normal race rooms from what I've seen.

I too will revive an old thread as I think the next patch will correct the problems associated with this fantastic way for online racing.

I've hosted several of these races with great 16/16 success, the trick is the host must have the best connection. Also, users can't join in mid-race so there is a lot of downtime to make sure everyone gets on ok.

The issue is that I have nothing is declared as far as what the shuffle ratio does. My assumption is that shuffle 0 is even cars while shuffle 10 is off the wall difference... I usually hang my room at 2 so most people get a chance.

For you maybe, I don't have many (tuned) cars and since most hosts keep changing the regulations up to going on with X1's ( I mean really??? ) out of the blue it's really very time consuming for me to find decent races.

Best races I had so far was one make or predefind garage car races... awesome! 👍

PS: playing in normal rooms, where it only count who has the fastest car feels almost like FM3 >.<

Have to agree shuffle races are some of the best ive had online, and winning Deep Forest Raceway with 5th place only +000.531 behind me was intense lol that race alone was a good enough reason to have online replays!!!

I think it's the best format if you play with a bunch of people you know, not just some randoms.

You missed one of the key feature of the shuffle races, it picks a car for you based on how you did last race. I think you can adjust how much of a variance there are between the best car and worst car it assigns to each racer but if you finish first in the previous race you will get the slowest car in the next race and the last place will get the fastest car. We're not talking huge difference here but it's kind of like boost, it keeps the races pretty close especially if there is a mix of skill levels in racers.

Now some bad points,

The cars always seem to be too slow for the track, it should do a better job selecing cars that are more suited for the track you are racing on.

I wish it randomized the tracks as well, too much time trying to figure out what track to race.

If you could just end the race and start a new one without everyone having to wait for the track to be picked and then everyone hops in and then someone has to start the race. Why not just have a continue to the next race button at the end of each race, it selects the track and the cars for everone and the race start timer counts down?

+1 👍

This mode could be the savior of online, but it is terribly restricted from what it COULD be. Choice of car series and tires would solve pretty much everything. Not sure about letting it get up to the LMP level, as that would probably quickly turn into noob city demolition derby, but a BIT more would be nice.

BTW, remind me (I forgot)... Can you have Shuffle race with Boost OFF and full damage on and assists off too?

This goes against the purpose of the shuffle mode. Since you get a car based on how you placed in the last race, I would imagine that all the cars in each group of cars you mention would be too similar to each other to make much difference to the outcome of the race. That is unless they do something like they do in some RL race series where they put "penalties" on cars that are winning. If the game de-tuned the cars depending on the previous race then I can see everyone being able to drive say an LMP car for each race.
