alright, im building up a 93 240sx for drifting (of course) and this is where ill update pics, videos, and you all can see what ive done so far now what i plan on doing is ive got a new motor ready to be put in. the motor is called a jasons grey's frankenstein which is a ka24 block with forged pistons weightless crankshaft and the pistions are out of a v6 motor. it used to be in a datsun 510 race car so its got a 13 to 1 compression at 257hp. very tourqey. so here are some future parts for the car.

FUTURE PARTScoilovers (brand undecided)
LSD
whole new suspension
5 lug conversion
rev limitor

suggestions open.

lucky you.... I've been looking for an s13 240, and everything here is rusted and rotted. Mine won't be drifted though... not soon.

Keep us updated, and show us the pics!

Installing a "rev limitor"?

Oh boy. Oh, and in regards to your sig. Drifting doesn't get all the chicks man. It really doesn't. Girls aren't impressed by a spray painted, beat to 🤬 240 from the 90s with flip up lights, which is 90% of "drifters".

Come on dude really it's his first drift car don't make fun of it. What was YOUR first car?

It was a Civic. I didn't "install a rev limitor" on it, because mine, like pretty much every other car out there, came with one from the factory.

I'm not knocking his car choice, I just feel that he should learn more about mechanics before building a car for a sport which inevitably will require repairing his car.

ok here are some pics ive taken and some pics of the old motor and the new motor.

as to regards to perfect balances comment on my sig. i can understand your point but let me do what i want and that'll be the end of it mate no offence of course 👍

What else is done to the KA that it now makes 100hp more than the stock motor?

I'm not quite sure I understand what's going on... That "new" engine is an L-Series from a 240/260/280Z... whereas the "old" one is a KA24DE...

Does not compute.

got my facts mixed up heres the right stuff

Compression Ratio Calculations
For compression ratio calculations, take into account the cylinder head chamber volume, dish volume in piston top, volume contained within head gasket (crushed thickness is 1.2mm), chamber volume created by or occupied by the piston due to non zero deck height at TDC cylinder and the swept cylinder displacement (Pi*r^2 * stroke).
Compression ratio =
(Total chamber volume at TDC + swept cylinder displacement) /
(Total chamber volume at TDC)
Example:
Stock L20B = (45.2cc + 11.36cc + 7.0cc +2.6cc + 488.0cc) /
(45.2cc + 11.36cc + 7.0cc +2.6cc)
= 8.4:1

Connection rods
- Z24, KA24 ------------165.0mm
pistions
KA24----------------- 34.0mm / 2.8cc dish / 89mm bore
block
Z24 and KA24 = 247.45mm

Big Bore 2.3L
Fit KA24 pistons into a bored Z20/Z22/L20B block. The small 2.8cc dish area of the KA24 pistons helps to preserve compression ratio even with the low piston deck height. Compression ratio with an open chambered U67 head is 9.9:1 or use dished Z24 pistons and peanut chambered head for 8.9:1 compression ratio.
Parts: Z22 crank, KA24 pistons, Z22S/ L20B rods in a +2mm bored Z22 block or +4mm Z20/L20B block. S/2+r+p= 92/2+145.9+34.0= 225.9 mm /piston deck height: -1.55mm below deck

Pistons from a V6 = KA24 pistons?

That is one ugly looking header.

That's fine, but don't be surprised when chicks aren't dying to get naked with you after you become a drifter.

What's the deal with those seatbelts?

Automatic seatbelts. Big thing in America during the 80s and 90s. Aimed at people too stupid to do up their own seatbelts, when you close the door they work their way around the roof so you're belted up.

Now they're just an unfortunate feature of a bunch of 2nd hand cars. Massively glad we never got them in the UK.

I hate those stupid seatbelts, I've been wanting to get them out of my car for ever.

You have too much stuff for the interior for a drift car, strip it all down . Like me :D.

I'd start by taking out those blue interior panels and painting them or replacing them with different panels. They make the place look like a child playhouse.

I'd tell you update your fading paint job, but if you're serious about drifting this thing, I'd just leave it alone. It'll just hurt more to see the rear quarters scratched up.

How do you plan to do the things on your "Future Parts" list? Will you take it to a shop or do it yourself? Because those things will get expensive and time consuming fast...

In regards to this drifting discussion. No, girls don't find drifters hot. Movie car chases with $100,000+ cars sliding through lens flare and flames are what most girls know about drifting. Comparing their expectations to your results will make you look like a 13 year old boy at the gym lifting 10lb dumbbells in a tank top. Aside from this, real racers will watch you and wait with held breath until the moment that you catch some unexpected grip and go *tink* into a wall.

Wanna tell them about the rear ones also?

A friend of mine back in high school had a 240... I've never been so pissed off at a seat belt haha.

No, girls don't find drifters hot.

That's the absolute truth. If anything, it's the men you attract by being a drifter, actual drifter, no just someone with a 240 and stripped interior.

You should just strip it out the most you can, get a seat or seats and harnesses and a roll cage. I don't think you'll need an engine swap to start with nor a change of the rev limiter since I think that's for more powerful engines.

Aaah, so that's what they are. I sort of guessed having seen them in a few films but I had no idea what they were for. Seems like just another thing to go wrong.

There's rear ones? I had my back seat out within two weeks of getting the car. The seatbelts were useless the whole time.
The rear ones where a two piece that had to be connected. One for the lap that held a opening to connect with the one over the shoulder.

I'm still confused as to what your engine setup is. :boggled:

Is there a drift scene in Oklahoma?

Get some coilovers asap (i'd suggest HSD)
Weld your diff
Take the back seats out and strip the sound deadening
If you can, get a bucket seat, harnesses and cage
Get new wheels
Get a cheap body kit you dont mind smashing up

HSD coilovers aren't sold here, but they are literally the exact same thing as a bunch of other cheap Taiwanese coilovers that are sold here. I wouldn't recommend them.

Also, no point in getting a cheap bodykit when the stock parts actually fit and can be bought for less than $50.
