A challenge for the hardcore GT3 addict :D

The circuit: Deep Forest

The car: Sprinter Trueno S.S.

The motors only producing 220 BHP has had the lightweight stage 3 mod, and is fitted with all the adjustable bits and bobs and of course a set of sim tyres!

Current best lap around Deep Forest 1.27.078

Second car: Clio Sport V6

Second Circuit: Monaco

The time: Under 1:57

The cars standard apart from an oil change and a set of sim tyres but its still great fun to drive :D

Any one up for it or is to tricky to drive on a set of low grip tyres?? :eek:
 
I think I'll give this a little go, in need of a change.

Yep you need to win it ..You can get it in amateur FR challenge .But it's one of those cars you can't get again..

So if you've no got it in your garage your gubbed :lol:

I got it :p just havin a few laps to set it up right now ... it's a bit slippery :D
 
:mad: ahh you swine :p is it any good then i never ran it i just looked and said to myself "what a dung box" ..Plus the 175k credits was very appealing :D
Then i hear what a blast this car is :(

I will need to find someone that has it so i can trade with them :)

glad to see some interest, just updated my best time :D
My car is still not quite set up right think there's more time to be had :banghead: realised that I'm using the close ratio box not full cust but it seams to be just about right.

Just use the AE86 that can be purchased from Toyota and tune it to around 220BHP the only diff is that the S.S. version has a black bonnet and can rev to 10,000rpm :D

Times for other cars/circuits could be submited here to form a sim tyre series (for people who like a serious challange)??

Tricky car to get set up on the sim tyres but great fun driving it, I'm running a soft set up for the rear spring rate/dampers to maintain all important traction and kill some of the oversteer. I know power oversteers fun :D but it sure slows down laps!!

The first challenge I took part in was a challenge I also hosted myself, and was a 10 round Sim Tyre challenge. I loved it. After the series was over I set them up as time trials that people can still take part in. One of the best drivers at that forum took part in it and so there are a few steep times set to beat.

If there is any interest, I could post them here?
 
Sure why not, always up for a challange :D. I did a search of the spot laps forum for sim tyres but did not find your posts :irked: I've basically got bored of racing in GT3 (most of the races are way to easy) and like to make the driving aspect as real as possible to try and improve my skills :D
 
You couldn't find them because I ran the series at GT3Times. Ok, I'll just post the race details here. I think I'll setup a little webpage with the standings & results so that I can keep a nice table of results. Just post times here and I'll put you up there. I'm not sure if I should post the best times just yet, they might scare you off. :lol:

Some pretty powerful rear wheel drive motors in there :) looks like i'm going to be spinning out again soon :lol:

Note: My time in the sprinter is set with TCS & ASM set to ZERO :p
 
Race 2 & 8 are the toughest ones. I'm personally most content with what I did on race 4, which comes close in terms of difficulty (let's just say it is under 2:00 - most people have enough trouble with getting a clean lap under 2:00 :D). I couldn't put my hart into race 6-8 because I had shoulder trouble and could only drive limited time with the DS2, where I normally drive Wingman. I love all of them except race 8, that car is really a beast - but some loved it. Race 5 was just incredible, what a great experience! Race 10 is almost as good, but the RUF's just a tight bit nicer to drive, Deep Forest 2 is a great track, and the A.I. is pretty much impossible to beat, but eventually I did finish 2nd (note: you don't need to pit when driving Sim Tires, the thread wears off, but that just makes them faster, because they become like slicks - admittedly, not very good ones, but they're not worse than the tires with thread, just different, quite interesting)

Yeah but don't feel bad - Kart.no.38, who owns 8 of the 10 times listed, is a semi-professional kart racer and currently one of the best of his league on the real track. He drove most of the times with minimal effort.

Some of my times on the other hand (most of where I was 2nd) are made from pure blood sweat and tears :D (meaning over 1000km most of the time! - but hey, I didn't even know the tracks and it was my first challenge :D), only my Seattle time was driven in one evening and a few of the other times I couldn't get the setup right or was driving with the Dualshock because I had R.S.I. problems.

I still like my Clio time which is on david andersson's website and which I think (hope rather :D) was the toughest one to beat for kart. :D
 
The series looked very well constructed with the most demanding challenges towards the end.

I'm currently lumbered with the Logitech driving force wheel and all of it's problems :( but at least its a wheel. Looking to upgrade it but currently don't have the funds (been tweaking my real car :D :D )

The DS2 controllers not 2 bad if you set the throttle & brake up on one of the sticks. Did mean to give credit to the guy(s) that set the times just forgot to note them down. Not sure about the 10 lap races and the tyre wear situation maybe give it a go later if I don't end up in the pub :D
 
Had a quick go in the silvia last night best I could manage was a high 1:37 But I can see where there is time to be had ;)
 
Oh I'm pretty sure you can shave some time off there ... :D

By the way, ac.cobra427 uses the Driving Force too. He too has the shifting problem, but then you know that at the very least his times should be possible with your current wheel. :D

If you can though, trade it in for the Wingman FF GP, I have two of them and they're great ...
 
This wingman ff gp is a PC wheel right but it works with the PS2 as well :confused:

Do all logitech wheels work with the PS2??
 
No not all, and not with all games, but many of the USB Logitech wheels do in fact work. But the Wingman FF is a special case - I was one of the first (together with IGN :D) to spot that the original GT Force wheel is exactly the same as the Wingman FF wheel, except with blue grips instead of red and a Gran Turismo sticker in the center of the wheel.

The MoMo wheel is another example - it happens to be backwards compatible with the Wingman FF, and as luck has it (according to Logitech themselves) the MoMo works with GT3 as well. Most versions of the Driving Force on the other hand are hampered by the shifting bug, which prevents you from downshifting while steering if I've understood it correctly. Some of these wheels you also have to calibrate and it's also sometimes a good idea to adjust the steering range (the MoMo is wider than the Wingman/GT Force, the Driving Force comes up short)

Does it cure the 75% braking issue as well??

Yes, the Wingman does not have any problems at all - GT3 was designed for it, in fact the Wingman FF was used for development before the version with the Gran Turismo sticker was even ready and released...
 
Had a few quick laps round monaco in the clio best time I could manage 1:57.973. Seem to be struggling through the second sector ( that nasty chicane is tricky to get right). The 1:56 is a very quick lap :eek:
 
That's still already very impressive though ... well done!
 
re that chicane - if I remember correctly, don't brake too much before, leave it enough pace to let the car just roll through and you'll shave off some time.
 
looking at some sector times a good entry/exit of the chicane is worth about half a second just can't get it right when the rest of it comes together :irked:
 
Well nearly done 500Km round monaco circuit :eek: improved my time last night to 1:57.164 :D so close to breaking the 1:56 barrier :mad:

Getting into the clio V6 handles real nice........not quite as waywood as the real thing (so i've been told) even on sim tyres.

Don't suppose you've got the splits for the 1:56.515 lap???
