i actually like how that last photo turned out. somehow gives the whole photo a bit of a realistic look. it's just sad knowing that pikes peak is now being paved, probably done already as i type here....sigh... oh well. you know if you tune that thing properly, you can somehow get it to do a wheelie! :lol:
bring more photos man.

3rd Picture is definitly the best out of this bunch. I think that they still need a bit more b/c though. Very realistic blur in it. If you need any help on perhaps trying zoom blur or cleaning then send a PM I would be willing to lend you a hand in improving. Check out my gallery if you have time.

Wow,looks so clean i could lick it :p but i think you need to nudge some of the lines.It looks quite blocky if you ask me.....
 
oh yeah i forgot to smudge the lines, that would make it look better thanks, for popping in and reminding me, and ofcourse... No Dont lick my car!
 
SimmiS, sorry if this may sound too harsh, but...

Where's the clean car part? There isn't much difference between this shot and a standard un-clean shot.

Cleanup also refers (and in this case, specially refers) to jaggies. They look immense, since the car was shot so close, and you chose a very difficult car to do your 1st cleanup, perhaps one with more simple lines would be easier to practice on big panels before attempting to recreat anc clean every small part of that hood/bumper.

Like I said, hope it doesn't sound as if I'm 'attacking' you or something, just giving advice here. 👍

Also, if I may ask, what tools did you use on the shot and how?

dont worry its not too harsh
but it was wy first attempt i didn't even know what cleaning was two days ago

All > did to it was enhance the lines no the bonnet and add contrast. I must have missed the point
 
But what were the tools you used and how did you used them?

I can point out some mistake if you explain that, it'll be easier.
 
Ok i filled the lines with black half opaque and went on . I blurred the front bumper i also dodged the lighter reflections not too much though. Perhaps you could reccomend an easy car to clean ..?
 
hmmm... it doesn't show much.

The easier and most effective way of cleaning is (at least to me it was in the beginning): start by highlighting all the spots that you want to see shine, burn the ones that you want to be less pronounced. All with a relatively medium/large brush set with low dodge/burn values.

Then, correct the jaggies with the smudge tool.

Then select the panels one by one with the polygonal lasso too and apply surface or lens blur to each bit individually.

Check the tutorials on top of the galleries forum page, they explain a lot better than me. 👍


Also, on the car choice subject, I'd recommend anything with simple lines, not too many holes or bumps, not race cars, not black (hard to make look good), no pearlescent or iridescent colors, simple reflections shown on the car to work on.
 
Check Bram Turismo's gallery. He did some pretty amazing shots working only with Gimp.

And don't forget to check the tutorials.
 
Sorry for the double post, but I couldn't get the link to work with the editing on the previous. Also, if you want to, I can remove the image from your gallery, I know you didn't ask for it.

I took a little go at your shot, just so you see the difference. It's a quick job, so I didn't bother with getting things perfect, it's for demonstration purposes only. Except the gaussian blur on the background, All I did was use the tools I told you above.

I reckon you have a real GT40 - that is simply stunning - how did you do it, like enhancing the orange?
 
Right, ive redone it, its not the same as beerzys but i was inspired by it, s ill put before and Now up to show you what ive done

Wow :eek: beerz shot looks mind blowing!I felt i squirted something in my pants (and no its not what your thinking :trouble: ) Your second update looks okay but the color,you didn't execute it as well as beerz,but like everyone else,always learn from your mistakes ;) so just keep trying until you ejaucu...i meant until you hit the right spot 👍 (i know my sentence sound exotic to you but thats what happens after you watch..... Oh why did i say it!!!!)

Anyway, one thing I do regarding for example that jagged black line on the hood, is to select the area of the hood I want to clean, making sure the selection has the shape of the line, even if it overlaps is on, the jaggies.
then, after I have the area selected, I grab the smudge tool and 'push' those jaggies out of the area I'm about to clean.

The reason the colors on the one I worked on are different is because I used a bit of hue on the it.

I reckon it is an ok shot to start learning the clean up process with, because there is not much of the car to clean up.
 
it looks good, compared to your first attempt. it's really not that hard with gimp, thinking i used to run that software before. but if i were you, i'll start downloading photoshop now. it's so much easier to use and the results are so much better.

Also Jgda9rs thanks for your tips aswell, im sure ill get better as i progress through! With photoshop though, because its not free, i cant download it now until my paypal activates, (if you can get it with paypal)
