From what I can see this is the original rFactor controlled via an iRacing style web interface (much much simpler and limited in comparison though). I'm sure it won't succeed using such an old engine, particularly with rFactor 2 being available soon - how are they going to get a critical mass of users to make the online play worthwhile? In a similar vein, with the number of cars they reckon they'll have the limited number of users will be spread so thinly that you'll be racing on your own.

Guys you need to check this out, don't judge it before playing it. They lowered the in-game Cr. prices for the cars by a huge margin. It is now actually possible to unlock cars without using real money. It still takes a while, but it is much better now.

I managed to buy the Morgan because of that, and am now saving up to buy the F3 car.

It's pretty good. I wish there were more people around to race with, but the Evo is fun to drive, and the few tracks they give you are good. Any free game that I spend more than an afternoon playing is good in my book.

The latest update added credit earnings to quick races, so there will be a few more people entering the races - in fact, the beginner server was full when I tried to join a race earlier.

Certaintly feels like they have improved the FFB on this game in recent updates, I tried it earlier today and it felt fantastic, the replay feature has been improved/fixed also.

Downloaded this today. Can't enter any of the events due to date of entry or not having the car. So instead drove the EvoX on practice mode on Zandvoort. After doing a good few laps getting used to the physics and the track, decided to see if I can do a quick race. Everything seemed full. Ended up getting two races on intermediate at Zandvoort with the EvoX. First race finished third and next race finished 1st which was a really intense race. Very fast people generally on that game. I think that is probably the first time I've ever done a race online on PC game.

I noticed the G27 settings did not map the brake and shifting correctly. The FFB does not seem that good but that is a general thing since I got a G27. Quick question, how many credits do you need to buy the cheapest car? I can't seem to find information on that.

Just had a quick look at the leaderboards, is the hot lap event any different than a quick race. Lap times I had to do were consistently in the top 250 it seems. The person who won the first race is ranked 49. No wonder why he pulled away bit by bit then. The person who I beat in the next race is ranked 211 so I think did reasonably well for a newb to beat him.

Tried the game just now. I entered a room, and the one person in there was Stiggy (TheStig13). :D I now have to save up some credits for some of the cars available.

I think i'll give this game a go :) Just finished downloading it. So it's like iRacing, but it's actually rFactor... Only it's free? Sounds good to me. I never did get around to buying rFactor after trying out the demo twice.

EDIT: It seems to be busy currently. Also, does anybody know how to change resolution after you first set it? Mine crops off part of the screen and it's running at 24Hz instead of 60Hz :( It isn't in the video option menu as you would expect.

I got a shock when I realised the brake wasn't mapped. I did 2 laps of Infineon before I realised, I thought I was just locking up/downshifting too much

I did a 1'53.6 on Infineon in practice mode in the Evo X. Then I looked at the leaderboard... it's worse than the WRS :D 5 seconds ahead!

Wow nice.
Haven't played it since I got rFactor to be honest, have to change that soon.

I can't figure out how to get my CSR-E Shift paddles mapped properly in simraceway - both are recognized as JOYB6 when I try to set them up on the mapping tab.

I also tried using the wheel in PS3 mode to trick Windows to recognize it as a G25 but same issue in game trying to map the paddles .:banghead:

Had fun racing the beginer and intermediate quick races online using auto shift aid - but can't race the advanced race (no assists)

Anyone have a fix / workaround for this one?

Oh, you were the one.
Wish I could help you, but can't you map a different button or something?

I can, but I would prefer to shift with the paddles if at all possible as it's much more intuitive in the middle of a race than remembering to reach for a button

2 laps of no brakes and you thought you were locking up, brilliant 👍

Last part, do you mean 5 seconds behind? I might try that hot lap event, yet to do one, only done the two quick races I mentioned earlier. See how far I can go up, if after a few laps practice I can beat someone on race pace with my limited online racing experience on all games, then I might be able to do reasonably well. Shame I can't win any prizes though. Just checked, the person who I beat is ranked 16th on this new hot lap event.

Do you have ACL enabled on the wheel. Maybe that could cause an issue?

I only started yesterday and in about two or three hours I made it to 1.53.134. Then I went to sleep, I sit at 80th as of now. :sly: Only if the setup was adjustable.

I prefer fixed setups, then you know you only have to work on your driving only.

I actually agree, but I always want to get more out of a car, but in this case. Yeah, you're right.

EDIT: Just hit a 1:52.575, which has put me up to 59th. The lap felt slow but it was reeaally smooth for me. :P

Cheers :) I figured it out myself shortly afterwards. It should really have a launcher with play game and config options, or at least be able to change the resolution ingame.

I was taking it slowly the first couple of laps, it was only when I started pushing that I realised I wasn't making mistakes, the car just wasn't braking  How it mapped the throttle and not the brake I don't know...

Yep, 5 seconds behind. I did a better lap, think it was in the low 1'53s or high 1'52s but it wasn't exactly clean, I ran wide through turn 1 and lost about half a second and lost a lot on the sweeping downhill left, I can never seem to get that corner right, I think my entry is too wide as i'm used to the track on GT4 where you have pretty much unlimited grip. I think i'm having trouble turning the car in, and adjusting to cockpit view (I'm considering iRacing at some point so I have to get used to it I guess). I'm a little rusty at the moment, for the past 2 months or so the only racing game I played was F1 2011.

It's a shame my internet connection keeps dropping out, I haven't attempted a race yet, it cut me off twice during time trial sessions.

EDIT: It keeps doing it when i'm on a hotlap, I had a low 1'52 time and was 4 tenths up at the first split, then it lost connection to the server. Glad I didn't subscribe to iRacing, guess i'll have to wait until I move into my own flat/house later in the year before I can play it properly.

^ Simraceway doesn't map the brake at all, I didn't have one but as this is me I went straight to the control mappings and found out.

PS: I've gone up to 55th now.

And looky here,

Entered the EvoX Infineon Hot Lap event. I know it is a free game but they need to really figure a way to do it so that lag from servers does not cost you lap time (I think it costs 0.3 seconds each time it lags, well that is according to the people on the chat room). It was a frustrating experience as the lag killed quite a few laps and ruined any rhythm as it could happen at anytime.

Ended up going to US servers as they lagged less although still cost me quite a few laps, I managed to get a reasonable time in. A very scruffy lap but managed to put me above the people who were in the room (They occupy the two places below me, the person who is directly below me currently is the person who I won my first race against ;)). I think I will leave this TT, as it is more annoying than fun though.

Here are the current rankings:

Edit: It has slightly changed now.

^ Yeah you helped put me down 5 positions when I was sleeping. :( Looks like I have to go back to the track.

Aww I should have put my GTP tag on it

Yes, I had a good lap running and into the long left downhill turn I had quite a lot of lag. Annoyingly it only lags on the hotlap, not the warmup lap. :grumpy:

Loaded a ghost on the Infineon hotlap challange and there was much cheating. Super fast speed form the start, must be using the pit entry area for acceleration before lap start. Then at the end of the lap cuts across the track at the 50-marker before the last corner. :grumpy: 👎

Worst one is when it happens at the end of the lap or at the start of the next. Which server did you use?

How much time do you lose at the start compared to the fastest ghost? Have you tried my ghost? If so what do you think of it?

It was not the fastest ghost it was some close above me in rank. I'm maybe 30-40 meters behind already to the first uphill corner then I gain on him and pass at halfway point, then at the end he comes from the right across the track and finishes in front of me.

Can't load your ghost Simraceway.exe crashed when I tried and now I get no ghost cars when I load a ghost... :dunce:

That is strange. Have you ticked the option when it shows servers, the ability to race ghosts. I did my time on US servers.

Yes, race ghost ticked. Deleted everything in my Replays folder and now I get connection lost when I try. I'm on UK server maybe that's the problem. Will test again tomorrow, going to bed now.
