I can't log in to SRW on my phone, when is this event ending? I didn't manage to take advantage of the Indycar oval event as much as I'd wanted to so I've been waiting for a new fast oval event for some time, but I won't be able to get on until Monday...

The event ends in 3 days and 14 hours as of posting, there is also the quick race at Phoenix in the Formula Renault 3.5, but I think that finishes on friday too.

New car added : 2013 Audi R8 GT

Cost is $1.97 or 1966 credits

Test Drive Tuesday tomorrow will feature the McLaren MP4-12C GT3. Price will be $2.41 with the 50% off deal. I couldn't get SimRaceWay to work last Tuesday. It kept saying I was running an updater version that was not compatible. It worked again yesterday though. So I'm looking forward to driving this car.

Cars can now be purchased in bundles, with some bundles representing a 50% saving, while others only have a 5% saving (which could work out more expensive if one car is part of Test Drive Tuesday).

Also, the Mazda Furai was released today, priced at $3.89, which is not bad for an LMP2 spec car.

Awesome, didn't see that one coming I'l see whats on TDT then if not i'l probably grab that Mazda. As for the bundles thing, was hoping they may have some more 2-3 car bundles, every one of those bundles has atleast 1 car that I already have.

Still though, pretty decent if you're looking to buy a bunch at once.

Had a pleasant surprise tonight, won another $11, 1st place in Toyota Supra at Watkins Glen and 3rd place in the advanced Mclaren F1 at Watkins Glen.

Crazy thing is, my Supra time was actually 13th on the board and my Mclaren time 5th. It just so happens that a whole bunch of drivers got disqualified for illegal laps. Seems to happen a lot where I think "how on earth can they go that fast" only to find they just get disqualified anyway.

Question is, what to spend it on?

Damn, I feel like I am spamming the thread with bump posts or something. Anyway they released yet another car (it was also released last night, hoped someone else would notice it before me!)

1966 Mclaren M1B

Cost is $2.50 or 2500 credits.

And why not, here is a description of the car

Based on the team’s first pure-blood racing car, the M1A, the M1B represented McLaren in the 1965 and 1966 seasons, laying the groundwork for the team’s now stellar racing reputation.

As well as sporting a significantly stronger chassis than its predecessor, the M1B’s profile was also amended with the help of British artist, Michael Turner. Its truncated tail and blunted nose made it noticeably shorter than the M1A, while further revisions to the 1966 version added wider wheels, a separate rear spoiler, a lighter ZF transmission, and space for a larger, more powerful Chevrolet V8.

The new 5.4-liter unit added significantly to the output of the original Oldsmobile powerplant, and the result could be seen on the track. The 1966 M1B would be driven to third-place in the inaugural Can-Am Drivers’ Championship by Bruce McLaren himself -- a feat that would pave the way for his team’s utter domination of the series in subsequent years.

Although 28 production versions of the car were built, only three of these 1966 McLaren M1B racers ever saw the light of day

Just started playing this today. Haven't had the chance to hook my wheel up so I've only tried it with a DS3.

Going to take a while to earn enough credits to buy more vehicles.

I suggest you do some laps and buy the Go Kart, it's very cheap and you will be able to use that then to grind some fast credits. But also check what cars are running events at oval tracks, its common that at ovals you will be able to make around 10 credits per minute, which is considerably faster than the Go Kart method.

If not there is usually a few Quick Races available to do at an oval, probably in the Evo X too. Quick Races though are usually fairly short blasts with a wait inbetween for the races to fill up, so if you're going for pure credit grinding it's better to stick to the events (hotlap/challenge)

Running hotlaps/challenge will be a good way to increase your SQ (Skill) rating too.

The best events for earning credits at the moment are the Atom at Chicagoland and the Charger at Phoenix. Given the Charger is only 300 credits it would be best to save up for a bit and buy that, even if you're not a huge fan of it you'll earn the credits back in 2 or 3 sessions.

I was doing the Evo X at Phoenix, but there's just too many users who are out there crashing.

I bought the go-kart, but I haven't been able to get control of it with the DS3 yet. I most certainly need my wheel for that one.

And, you guys answered my question I was going to ask. I've got 340 credits and was contemplating which car to purchase with it. I think I'll go with the Charger. 👍

Aye the Evo X races can be a complete carnage festival at times, I guess it's the nature of things with it being the start/beginner car. Hopefully when the SQ system fleshes out and everything falls into place with events and more structured racing, the real quality racing will come as a result.

Right now the quality of the cars and tracks as a driving experience is very good, but quality racing is few and far between. Though it is a lot better when you get away from the Evo X it can still be hard to find a good clean and full racing field. If anything the weak point of SRW right now is the lack of high level racing. Hopefuly further in the beta this will sort itself out.

Keep an eye out on tuesday, they always have a car that is free to drive for the day and sold at a discount (if you pay cash, the credits price remains the same).

Just a matter of practice.
I'm driving with a DS3 myself and beat several wheel users with the Kart alreasy.

Was going to edit into my last post, but nevermind. Uploaded a quick 1 lap run of a race I did the other night at Sonoma Raceway in the Audi TT. Did a bunch of races with these guys.

Started to get the hang of the kart. Still getting an occasional spin with it when I'm either too hot entering the corner or to eager on the throttle exiting slower corners.

Bought the Charger, did 3 Phoenix oval events and earned enough credits to put me right back where I was before buying the car.

Now if I could only get the hang of cockpit view. I really want to use it but I just can't break myself away from TV cam since that's what I'm use to the most.

Don't forget to map the seat adjustments so you can adjust the cockpit view to your liking, I have it different in pretty much every car and have the Left/Right/Forward/Back adjustements mapped to the Dpad on gearbox section of the G27. It can make a pretty big difference!

Completely random, but might aswel post it. A Quick Race at Watkins Glen in the Toyota GT-One from last weeks Test Drive Tuesday.

I've got to figure out how to get my wheel setup with the game properly. I shouldn't have to turn it down to 270 to get it to work how I want it to.

Double post and all but I think this deserves a bump, the M23 is currently on sale for all of $0.00. I'd be surprised if they honour 'sales' at this price but in case they do I suggest you get 'buying'!

I didn't catch it at $0.00, just got home from last nights celebrations and grabbed it for $3.53, not driven it yet but I needed it for my collection of Mclarens anyway and that price is great value!

Also went and bought the Mclaren M1B - Similar car to the M6GT, less power but it also feels lighter, a bit understeery at times but you can get the back end out into a controllable drift with a bit of throttle making it great fun to drive.

Heres a replay of my hotlap event time, it isn't really a great lap though it is currently the top of the leaderboard, I'm guessing not many people have tried very hard. The understeer in the car is really evident in the video, personally I think the car could use a better setup for this event, or a better setup in general.

Been recording with FRAPS, find it annoying as it only records up to 3.9gb before making a new file, usually around 1m 35seconds of recording, with my lowly windows movie maker I can't seem to work out how to glue the files back together to make a continuous stream without jumps. So recorded the above vid in only half screen quality.

The M23 is awesome. Took a bit to get adjusted to it in the hot lap challenge. Then once I did I tried the oval race. Which was a mess. Won a race that I nearly crashed twice in due to idiots not getting off the track after they crashed.

Also looks like the Evo X got an update.

Another new car has been released today, and it's one that I've been hoping to see in the sim - the Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500. Price is 76 cents or 760 credits.

LOGO_FordSierraCosworthRs500_1987_FrontThreeQuarter.JPG

I've currently got enough credits for the RS500, and I see there's a Lime Rock hot lap event. Should be very easy to earn the 760 credits back in little time.
