I got the Cosworth last night, car is awesome! Only had a short while with it and it's already one of my favourite in the sim, sounds amazing and feels great to drive, they did a great job of it!

I've been recording a few videos, gave the MSI afterburner a tester and I think I like it more than FRAPS, though so far I've not made a proper video with it, I need to get some proper editing software and have been thinking about Sony Vegas as Windows Movie Maker is just ridiculously limiting.

Some short videos with in my eyes the best cars in the game.

Lancia Stratos

Mclaren M6GT (Bruce Mclaren version)

Another new car has been released today, and it's one that I've been hoping to see in the sim - the Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500. Price is 76 cents or 760 credits.

 One of the best cars EVER. I'll get it when I install Simraceway onto my new PC... It's taken me weeks to get around to doing it.

Did some quick races last night, this one was quite full of action though the driver infront did not want to let me pass, blocking me all over! Great fun car to drive though, I like that you can get a little bumper to bumper without it completely ruining your race, reminds me of watching oldschool british touring car racing.

Some footage of the action, I have to say I love this Cosworth, it's right up there as one of my favourites in any game/sim.

Tried a race on Lime Rock with the RS500. Got ran off the track in turn 1, and then had to dodge another player for the remainder of the race who had absolutely no control over the car.

I think I'll stick to hot laps and challenges....

Didn't want to double post, but the BMW M1 Procar is the Test Drive Tuesday car this week.

Their posts on facebook suggests that in Q1 this year they will be adding social features, which will include being able to create your own races and social groups for league racing, or just racing with your friends for example.

On the forums they also announced multi car racing

"Hey guys,

I think you will be all very pleased to know that one of the most requested features over the past few months will be implemented very soon; Multi Car Races are just around the corner. This is something that I have personally wanted to see for a long time, so I’m pumped!

The first iteration of this will require you to own all of the vehicles that would be racing against each other in the particular class. For example, if we hosted an American Muscle Car Event then you would need to purchase the relevant bundle unless you already own the vehicles prior to the bundle being available. In the future, you will not need to own all the cars that you would be racing against."

Alongside that they have announced

SRW Off-Road Buggy, soon to be released 3,400-lb, 467-bhp beast"

And this 2012 Asphalt Modified, which already has it's own forum feedback thread meaning it will be available probably within the week.

So lot's of big things happening over at SimRaceway, hopefully things will fall into place sooner rather than later, I just hope they can find it in their heart to release a new circuit before the summer. It was announced on twitter that these european tracks were coming, along with some american oval based tracks, I believe.

Donington
Istanbul
Magny-Cours
Oulton Park
Snetterton
Cadwell Park
Nurburgring - Nordschleife
Imola
Valencia
Monza
Brands Hatch
Zolder

There was a Middle Eastern city course released in the update in the last few days.

That was just a track update, that course had been in the game for atleast 6 months, maybe a year, it had some track penalty detection issues though.

That's odd then.. it only downloaded and installed for me yesterday for the first time.

Maybe they disabled it for a short while before releasing the update, I wouldn't have noticed as I didn't use it much anyway, partly because of the annoying detection issues it had.

On a side note, I uploaded a video of the new Jaguar XKR-S. Nothing special (the video I mean) but it gives you an idea of how the car looks, sounds and performs.

Haven't followed this in a while, how is the online racing coming along? Is it fairly easy to get in a decent sized race? Is there any multi-class or endurance racing?

Read the rest of the page, I posted about such things above. There are a lot more members joining every day, the only racing occurs in Quick Races (vast range of driver skill level, most of which are racing the Evo X, some great races and some not so great, some full and some not so full) and on the sunday race off (which is an instant payout, so it's a high level, top quality race). When the above features are put in and with the increasing numbers of members joining, you will see such things as you're asking.

There's also the "Sunday Race Off" events, which you have to qualify for in the Race to the Weekend hotlaps. There are two different Sunday Race Off, the main event which uses a different car each week, has a $1 entry fee for the Race To The Weekend qualifying event, and has a prize pool, as well as a newly introduced Evo X event, which is intended as a support event that under 18's can enter, as there is no entry fee, but there's no prizes.

Speaking of the Sunday Race Off, I qualified for the Evo event last week, and finished 3rd in the race despite being punted off at the first corner. Here's the video if anyone's interested in watching.

I gave it a few races at Chicagoland earlier. Aside from the 🤬 race starts... it wasn't too bad for earning credits. Possible to do one warmup lap in the 70 seconds of pre-race and 10 laps in the race adds up to 55 credits in about 7 minutes.

Just drove some laps with the R18, feels good, very smooth, a bit too expensive though.

Agreed. I took it for some laps at Lime Rock, and it was good. But I think my wheels setup is making it feel strange, I just feel like I could be going quicker.

Also, with the Brno TDT event, how are people managing to go so quickly? I can't even get better than a 1:51:--- I don't know if there is something that you can change in the setup, or if my limited experience at Brno is behind it, or if I'm just a bad driver, I remember before I could make it into at least the top 50, here I'm still 112th or something like that.

Valencia!? Brands Hatch? Snetterton!? I like the look o this. Oh yeah, and the Nordschleife I guess. :P I also like the idea of having the social features, making your own rooms and such. And the multi-car racing sounds good. We can finally put some of these GT cars on the track with each other.

However, for some strange reason, I still have a feeling that they might put in the SRT Viper.

Well, I did a 1'49.6something with a DS3. Although I have to admit, with the roof view. The cockpit is way too dark.

The cockpit is a nightmare to look out of, those poor audi drivers! I used the roof/bonnet view too as I couldn't see a damn thing with that tiny little cockpit and the windscreen wiper stuck in the middle.

I was doing 1:46's steady though initially I guessed there was about 1 second spare, maybe more on a perfect lap. The most important thing with this car is to be smooth and to be always thinking about your tyre temps, it's really bad for overheating the fronts (could be helped by reducing the lock in setup, the only thing available aside from brake pressure).

If you're soft on the brake you can keep on it through a corner to get a little more turn in, this should smooth off any understeer issues, has to be very very light though. Don't be afraid to short shift as the car has plenty of torque, mostly when going from 2nd/3rd transitions. Also don't be afraid to shift into 2nd in some of the corners, the gear ratios on the car are fairly long for those and you might be surprised that what you think is a 3rd gear corner could be taken in 2nd to reduce understeer. Try to get a straight exit and it's ok if you get on the throttle later than you might expect, this way you can avoid overheating the fronts and causing a spin and allowing you to go harder on the throttle straight away. If you get on the throttle too early it may seem ok but you will overheat the tyres, you might even spin unexpectedly.

A fast lap in this car really will look very boring, very easy and smooth, you shouldnt be working the wheel very hard and you arent going to be ramming the throttle much, you do that and you will be doing 1:47s, when you get consistant you will start to shave time off and hit the 1:45s when the issues have been ironed out.

I've not had time to do that but if you check my laptimes on the leaderboard you can see that I was going faster on every lap, and the faster it got the more boring and restrained my driving got.

If I ever actually go ahead and purchase the R18 I'll be taking these tips right in. And about the cockpit, I admittedly also ran on roof/bonnet view, because the cockpit has such limited view space, hence why I've always said that I liked open cockpit LMP's more.

The Asphalt Modified is the new car this week. I'm not sure of the price because the website isn't letting me sign in.

Nice! I was expecting that one to cost a little more.

Did you also notice this. Kentucky Speedway got added to the sim too.

They posted this on their facebook too.

Looks like a Late Model stock car. Can't tell which series it is from since the picture is so small.

The Asphalt Modified is well spent credits. The biggest issue is racing it against others who can't handle it.

The back of it looks like a c3 corvette a bit

I believe it is styled after a mid-late 70s Corvette.

It would be nice if the car had a rear spoiler on it. Would correct it's tendency to go ass-backwards at high speeds. But, that would take the fun out of it.

BTW, good races earlier, Bigbazz. 👍

I wish I knew how to read. I bought the C6.R GT2 because I sort of wanted it anyway and I saw the Indianapolis hot lap event for it... But I managed to miss the fact that it's Indianapolis Road, not Speedway. No easy credits for me. Now I'm left with about $2.30 so I'm tempted to just spend it on a single car close to that amount.

Its Indianapolis road public, my favourite layout, I really enjoyed myself on that track, the C6 GT2 has questionable ammounts of grip and stability and is faster than the BMW M3 GT2 but I love it, had a bunch of fun and ended up racking up a load of credits from just hotlapping, so it's not all bad!

If you haven't got the Modified yet then it's a must have, as is the Cosworth! I'd keep your $2.30 until tuesday though, see what turns up on test drive tuesday. Personally I'm hoping they do the VW Touareg, in time for the new Dakar style Dirt track that they are releasing on Feb 1st.

As for easy credits grinding, there was the Charger quickrace at Phoenix, around a 31.5-32s lap and 20 laps in the race, you could also do the Modified quickrace at Kentucky for 12 laps at around 31-32s per lap (did a bunch of both with PorscheGT above, was good!). The modifieds are especially fun, I think those are going to become real popular around the oval tracks, even though they are pretty decent around road courses too.

Closest car to $2.30 is the McLaren M6GT at $2.11.

But, holding onto that money would be a good idea.

Also, I did a few more Modified races today. 2 of them I spun off turn 2, hit the inside wall and flipped. Seems there's an issue with clipping points when the car is upside down as it continues catapulting into the air when it comes to a stop while it's upside down.

Yeah, I had a quick look at what I could afford and decided against it. I think they did a TDT on the Touareg not long ago, didn't they? I remember being blown away by the normal price...

I made up for my lack of reading comprehension by checking the quick race mode, there's an Atom V8 race there; 20 laps of Chicagoland, so that's 100 credits in 10 minutes or so. Being a race it's less dull than a hot lap event too! I'm on 710 credits now so naturally I'm going to be torn between buying one 'expensive' car and several cheaper ones.
