Because there's no other topics about Skate 2, can I call this official?

Ok, you may all remember the original Skate, set in the city of San Vanelona. Well, Skate 2 picks up from where Skate ended. It is set after the events of the original Skate and the city has been taken over by a masssive buisness place named MongolCorp and EA Black Box have named this 'The Disaster That Shall Not Be Named.'

MongolCorp have renamed San Vanelona- it's new name is...New San Vanelona. There's a load more skate parks and more places to skate which you'll also find throughout the city, like in the original Skate.

More information can be found here.

You can now get off your board and this means you can actually fight the security guards/police if they catch you. You can also move objects around to create your own skating areas, which is amazing.

The demo is out now! The game is released on the 23rd January 2009! Official Playstation Magazine gave Skate 2 8/10 and IGN gave it 8.6/10.

Just brushed through the text of the hands on and watched the videos of this game,

OMG it looks so sweet, I loved the first on so much, spent countless hrs just going around the streets skating not doing anything but skating with mates online,
Best Skate board game i have ever played with perfect controls, and the new version is looking even better on an impressive looking first game.

Cannot wait for it!

I've been wondering what was going on, I love the first game. I think I'll go play now!

Good thread. When this thing hits, we can go online and I can show you how much I suck.

Yeah Awesome, I will be getting this version on PS3 not 360 this time round, hope they add in trophies as its a nice little perk that why i got the 360version before.

I will send you a FR when i get on the PS3 so we can play sometime when it comes out.

PS- i uber suck also lol, but its just such a relaxing game online, so its all good.

Well this thread needs updating.

The Skate 2 demo is coming on the 8th January 2009, with the game being released on the 23rd. I've got it preordered and I'm really looking forward to it, hope EA Black Box have made it as good as the last one! It looks great.

If you didn't hear the news EA Black Box have closed, maybe because of this they had to rush Undercover and get it done as soon as possible, perhaps that's why it didn't turn out to the standard people were expecting. But I don't think that's the case with Skate2, they've probably spent more time on this than Undercover so hopefull it'll be great, well we'll find out soon!

Sounds gooooood, I'll keep checking. Just picked up Socom/headset for $35 on ebay, hopefully I can make use of the headset in this game.

Sadly yesterday the demo only came out for Xbox bloody Live Gold members so PS3 users and Xbox Live Silver members will have to wait until the 15th January 2009 to get the demo.

Ok the demo was released today, 15th January 2009 for Xbox Live Silver and PS3 users. I will correct the post above, I said it was out on the 16th but I got the date wrong, was meant to put the 15th.

After the massive download, I was taken into a massive install, and then taken into the demo. Finally. The first thing you do is create your character. I just flicked through all of the options, and saw a variety of things, and then once I was ok with my character and skateboard (yes you choose your skateboard), I was outside.

My objective was to go to Slappy's skate park, and I went there, did my next objective which was speaking to Slappy and then went through a few challenges. The demo is timed, so the more objectives and challenges you complete, the more time you have.

I had a few minutes so I messed around a bit. I could now go and explore until my time was up, and do whatever I wanted. I got of my board, and instantly realised the running and walking movements are a bit dodgy. Moving around objects is great fun though, because you can grab onto anything and move it around. The skateboarding is a bit improved from last time, and the biggest and most obvious improvement is the fact that you fall off more often, making it more realistic. Everything else in terms of the skateboarding is exactly the same as the last game though.

My time in the demo was now up, so if I want to play again I have to go through everything again, but I don't actually mind, it's pretty good.

OPM scored Skate 2 8/10 in their exclusive review, saying that it is better than the last game but the new things don't work that well.

The game comes out on the 23rd January 2009.

This game is going to be great. First one was amazing compared to it's competitors (Tony Hawk what?) Can't wait to try this out, the ability to get off your board and fight back at the security guards is gonna be great.

The could have made the time on the demo alittle longer. Even if you fly threw the challenges, your left with about 7 or 8 mins of free time. Sucks (time limit not game). Game is good.

True, the first Skate demo let you muck around for 20 minutes.

Yeah, but at least we get to play it, it's better than nothing.

I've tested out Party Play today and it's really good, better than I expected. Hall of Meat is so fun!

Wow, found this out now, Skate 2 is gonna be out soon ,23rd if im right? Aparrently it really sucks on the 360?

I've got Skate 2! A day before it's released, I can say that when it comes out it is worth it if you are bored of the original Skate. It's good, but some features feel a bit old.

But if you aren't bored of the original, then keep it, and perhaps buy Skate 2 as well, if you really want to.

Check out the DLC-for-morons, unlock all things you can unlock by playing online and career (it actually says this in the description) but you can pay to have it now and basically remove the completion rewards... yay.

EA are making a habit of this now with stupid DLC for things you can simply unlock already...

Must be one of EAs new 'how to make our image even worse to all the people who flamed our Undercover DLC joke' policies.

It is literally getting extra money without actually having to create new content, it's not even DLC really is it. It's PTUAAVC (Pay To Unlock Already Available Content)

Is there something banning this, and if not, WHY NOT!

Banning what? Releasing 'dlc' that only unlocks content in the game? It states clearly that it can be unlocked in career and online (thats how I know, i dont have Skate 2) so it is only for the really lazy people who can't be bothered to actually do the game. It's even called the 'Time is Money' pack...

Just out of intrest, as my brothers looking towards buying Skate 2 as he loves the demo and he prefers it to the original, does this game have trophies? It's not the be all and end all as it seems a fun game to play, even though I'm rubbish at it but still....

EDIT: Now ordered! Just got to wait for it to turn up now.
