Skyline R30 Group 5 race car: How does it drive?

It was one of my favorites in GT2 because it was such a balanced race car that punched above its weight class, but now with a much more sophisticated car model and physics, does the philelity of driving it stay true to what you'd expect from a 1980s racing car?

In this game, one of the easiest race cars to handle. I’ve driven it on many tracks and it sticks like glue. There’s a bit turbo lag, but that’s part of its character.

Possibly my new favorite car to drive. My 1989 Dodge Shelby turbo had bad turbo lag but had a whiplash effect on full boost, I get that in game feeling with this car. The car is just flat out fun to drive and can win Sardegna 800 and Lemans 700 with ease.

Just tried it out on Daily Race C. Very fast top end, able to break the tow of GT3 cars once you get to about 160mph, but turbo lag means you lose a bit of time getting up to speed. I found personally it needed a bit of hustling to get it to hit the apex - not a bad handling car by any stretch, very grippy, just doesn’t have a terribly pointy front end.

Excellent car. Great power, great handling, only downfall is fuel consumption is bad. For example when I took it to Sardegna (tuned to ~780pp with medium turbo and on RM tires) even on FM 5/6 I had to pit 3 times for fuel to make it the entire race safely. Tried only pitting twice and ran out of fuel about 3/4 way through last lap and BARELY held on to a win when I had a full 1 minute lead starting final lap. Handles similar to a Gr.2 car with my setup.

Interesting. I found it an easy 2 stop on FM6 high RPM turbo on RH. My gears are close to take away turbo lag, tops out at 170 ish on the front straight IIRC.

My bad, it was 780pp with RH. 799.50pp with RM. My current setup, haven’t changed any of the gear ratios, FCR trans is set as it comes.

The car absolutely cheeses Sardegna with the medium turbo even on hards. Barely any tire wear and shortshifting it a little easily makes the fuel last for 5-6 laps.
Definitely one of my favourite Gr.3 cars
