Heres a couple of pics of my R/C car with the Skyline shell i recently finished, (well it would be over a month ago),

It was Originally a HPI skyline R34 shell.

they'res a poo load of crap that ive added to it, e.g., rollcage, exhaust, stickers, front mount, numberplates, Front light buckets, New rear lights, etc

Bit about myself on the R/C drifting scene: Been doing for over 2 years now, drift on ABS with a Tamiya TT-01, Love use it, smash it. But you know, its all fun.

Me and my mates around the street have a Team called "Grip Garage" and we drive together every weekend, atm we're working on a video, and ill post it up once its finished. For now you can check out our site
Grip Garage site

here are the pics, say what you like, Bag what you don't like :sly: (sorry for the large pics)

Not sure what happened to the last pic, colours a bit out of wack

**** me, talk about sacked on it's arse! :D

I have a standard TT-01 with the '04 WRX shell. I chose to go with Gunmetal Grey rather than the Subaru Blue and I quite like the look 👍

I haven't spent much money on it (spending it on my real life car instead :D) but I'm starting to gain interest in it again.

yo man that looks awesome. I saw a video a while back I think on the HPI website of some R/C cars driftin and I thought it looked awesome. At the moment I currently have a stock Tamiya TL-01 chassis with Astra Touring Car body which is in serious need of upgrading as i want it faster, and I have a HPI Savage..

anyway, lookin forward to the video.

Wow I wouldn't drive that thing on the pavement, the body and shell must be beat to hell ridin that low. Also what kind of tires do you have on it? What kind of inners do you have in it? Like the motor speed controler and what not. I used to be big into R/C's.

I have a TA-04R with the Altezza shell on it. I run a 14DT motor that is way over geared, purple foam tires for carpet, and these super soft ones for pavement. Plus I have my upgrade suspension...it's basically truck suspension thrown in there. I'll get some pictures of it.

LOL, yes its low but i run it on smooth pavement so its not to bad.

I use ABS (which is a plumbing pipe, it makes your car slide quite well.) so the ABS requires no foam or inserts. pm me if you want to know more info about it

I use a 19t brushless system with a novak unlimited speed control and i have CVA mini shocks with new springs.

Never used it on carpet, floorboards etc. Just the good ole streets for me (cause the nearest track is 200km away)

Well people its obvious i would make the back higher than it is in the pics, and as for the front wheels turning, ofcoarse they're going to turn *they're 26mm wheels* nothing massive, just stock rims

Yay, went out this afternoon and bought me a compete ball bearing set. Can't really see much of a difference yet.

I've always wondered, whats the relevance of body sizes? 190mm and 200mm? Is that the space between the back of the front wheel and the front of the back wheel?

[edit] Or maybe the width? :dunce:

190mm, 200mm, . yes it is the width of the shell thats the difference, the length does not change.

You WILL notice the difference when ball bearings are equipped, and driving. It brings a much more smother ride and feel to the car. ( a great purchase 👍)

Thats quite badass, reminds me of the JGTC skylines, low and very aggressive looking.

I haven't had much of a play with it yet but originally I had only replaced the bronze bushings and the plastic bearings on the diff and the driveshaft. Then I realised there was bearings in the hubs where the wheels connect. I had one bearing left over, did you?

Went out and bought me some goodies today:

Aluminium drive shaft
Metal motor mount
Turnbuckle tire-rod set

I bought some nitro fuel tubing to lock (or LSD) my rear diff and now the arse steps out when on the lino, with a more powerful motor and gear combination I'm sure I can get the thing to powerslide on concrete 👍

I also got a 190mm Frewers S13 Silvia body. Not entirely into the whole drifting thing but I quite like the S13's looks. I'm going to paint it white 👍

Any suggestions for wheels? I'll post some pics up when I'm finished with it.

Sounds awesome, i would say that frewer make the best S13 shell.

My suggestion would be kawada wheels, they're simply awesome. OR black mesh wheels. That would make me drool

I made a complete arse job of cutting it out but I'm sure I can smooth it out a bit. The body sits a little bit too far back at the moment so I'll sort that out.

I also forgot to blank the windscreens out so they're white too :dunce: I'll just mask the rest of the body out and go over the windows in black 👍

LOL, sounds like you made a mess of it, lol

just drill body holes further foward (or back not sure), to make it sit right (i did the same thing)

As for not masking your windows, its going to be a painfull job painting your windoes black, you wanna make sure you dont put ANY paint on your car.

So you might have a bit of a task on your hands, have fun 👍, and show us some pics

Awesome, though I think it's a bit low, don't you? Pebbles would scratch it up... anyways, I used to have a Tamiya TB-01 with PVC tires for drifting =Þ It was pretty fun. Oh, and if you want some AMAZING R/C drift videos, google SG-Drifters vids. These guys are from Singapore and are amazing!! (They were some of the first R/C drifters)

Yes yes SG-Drifters are pretty good  (there shells look like poo though), though me and my friends are in the process of making a video, and there skills may quite be matched by ours :dopey: :sly: , nah we'll see :dunce:

hey nice car... its Nitro RS4 2 from DRC and RC Dori.. 👍

Well me, im a pretty cautious drifter... but my friends arent, lol. They run into me a lot. (so its them who should be paying for the busted parts), the most common replacements are gears.. although my latest issue is a busted receiver. so thats gonna be a bit of cash out of my limited pocket. But if your driving on your own,and are a good driver, the car is easy to maintain, and in expensive

I'm "Dimension" on both sites. :)

Buy metal gears, they cost more but will last a lot longer. I have a set somewhere but I don't really use them much because I don't car for the ratio they give me.

I used to "drift" my tg10, and my dad's tg10r those things step out quickly with a harder/really soft rear suspension and hard tires in the back. Although I was always more into drifting my TB01 because I ran it in a rally class up in the TCS of Canada =) lol

hey i am pretty new to drifting and i wanted to buy this r/c cause it was kinda cheap and in my price range http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGGA3&P=0 also i wanted to know could i take that body off and put this body on

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHPX7&P=0

cause i was gonna use the skyline body as a practice body and when i go to comp and meets use the 86 body so what do ya think also is this pretty good for drifting its 4 wheel drive

ok back on topic

nice skyline pretty sweet like to see a vid soon.

Blazin.. If you find a place that sells metal gears to fit a TT-01,, ill buy them :sly:

xsquizet-drifte : It looks like a TT-01 to me, good choice for drifting. As for shells, do you not realise they are atttched by just 4 clips?.. the shell is removable in like 5 seconds. And the yokomo 86 is a great choice of shell 👍 best of luck. Any other questions PM me, ill try to answer them.
