smallville season 3 ending! (if you havent seen it don't read)

Woah! it looks like they have effectively managed to kill off and get rid of most of their main characters.

Chloe and her dad blew up
Lionel luthor is in jail on murder charges
Lex is on the floor poisoned
Lana is half way to france
Pete moved
Clark has been taken captive by Jorel and is in some weird place

It will be interesting to see how it all works out, obviously Lex doesnt die, and I have a feeling Chloe isn't dead either, pete is definatley gone as he has been taken off the cast list, we know clark has to return or it wouldnt be much of a show and I have a feeling lana will return. Anyone elses have any speculation?
 
I saw the finale and I'm pretty sure all of those characters will be back next season, except Pete. Overal, I thought the finale was fairly weak. This season in general wasn't as good as previous seasons. I only watched probably 5 episodes this season though, so it's hard to say.

I ended up reading some stuff about the future of Smallville and was interested to find out that it's the producers' intent on having Smallville only run 5 seasons. Which means that if the show does well enough next season (#4), Season 5 just may be the last one on the small screen.

Kinda bummed that Pete's gone (he and Martha were the only stable characters on the show that I liked).

Anyway, thanks for the spoilers - I didn't get to watch a majority of the season due to work.

P.S. I'm betting the next super power will be cold-breath.

I guess that's probably true... I started watching it only because The dukes of hazzards guy (forgot his name) and Kristin Kreuk

His power are probably the only thing that saves that show... They really started losing direction. I kinda figured that this show was pretty much close to going off air soon, especially from what skylineGTR_guy said in his post.

Looking at the cast list for next season, the only character to really leave is pete (he will still be on but not as a regular) , i have a feeling lana will come back, chloe is still there so she lives, we know lex cant die or who would be clarks nemesis. I head there was supposed to be 1 season for each yr of HS after that he moves to metropolis and does the whole superman thing...
 
I remember reading somewhere (maybe Dark Horizons) that they were going to segue a Batman version of Smallville called Batman Begins. Don't know how that could work out - I really can't imagine how interesting watching a show based on Batman's formative years when Gotham is supposed to a dark, gothic place and Bruce Wayne spending most of his days brooding and obsessing about his parents' death.
 
The current theory is that Lois Lane, who could not remember her childhood due to some "incident" (like... a house blowing up?), will be the new identity of the Witness Protectioned Chloe.
