Smelling a Sony Scam?

PS3 will have lifespan doubled compared to previous playstations. They are about to release 3D capabilities, Move and start using camera properly too. PS3 is just getting into its own, PS4 will certainly not going to be released within next 3 years, as not to cannibalize PS3's sales and let it pay for itself.(they are still loosing money selling it)

GT5 is coming this year on PS3, I am in no doubt of that (IMO)...

However, Sony have been quite poor (IMO) with the way they have treated customers with regards to GT, firstly the GT:HD roadmap, then the GT:HD Demo, I bought a PS3 just for this, only for it to be canned..

Then GT5p came along, with press interviews stating that Damage and the like would be future updates for GT5p, but was canned..

Then the expectation of GT5 release from so many sources was last year, it never materialised, now it's not even confirmed for this year yet..

As can be seen from teh front page, GT is a huge system seller for Sony, they've abused this position (I feel) by using GT:HD/GT5p with big 'promises', yet gave us the bare minimum they could, stringing us on for 5 years..

Of course we'll all still buy it, but I really don't trust Kaz/PD/Sony as far as I can throw them, it's left a bitter taste in my mouth..

As soon as the awesomeness of GT lands on my floor mat, all will be forgiven (it better had be!).

If GT5 is as good as PS4 can do, then sony should consider skipping a generation.
This thread was made because someone is a mad fan and has a conspiracy theory, totally understandable!
This thread, in essence, is almost no different than people complaining about skidmarks or damage. All those get closed, but not this one?

The PS2 had a 10 year life cycle. Now with technology advancing even faster, you expect the PS3 to be around 20 years? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds? Life cycles of products will decrease not increase unless it's a completely new, breakthrough tech. Video game consoles are not anything revolutionary. Taking the PS3 4 years to come into it's own should be telling sony that this gen was not that great and they should cut their losses not keep milking thing for all it's worth. Otherwise they'll be losing more and more.
Sony and M$ have already confirmed new consoles for 2012/2013.

How many people like me bought a PS3 to play GT prologue and thought that it wouldnt be long before GT5 was released. This is not a rumour starting thread but something ive been looking into and started seeing a few bad indicators. I havent heard if Sony have a new consol on the drawing board but through past history they release a new playstation about every 5 years. The PS3 was released in 2006 so if things go as they do were gonna start seeing Sony showcase its new console either later this year or early next year. No one wants to release a game onto a redundant consol and Im wondering now if GT5 is gonna be the Showcase seller for the PS4 rather like GT3 was for the PS2. If this is the case im gonna be one ****ed off person!

We're talking about different concepts. I'm talking about time gap between PS3 and PS4 compared to PS2 and PS3. As for total lifespan, I think some companies probably still do games for PS1, so there's no point in discussing that perspective...

What I said applies to whichever concept you were talking about. Whether gap between consoles or life span, the PS3 won't be out any longer than the PS2.
