But I'm sure that the damage is already done.

I'd be scared ****less having to think if I would be diagnosed with cancer or not in the future.:scared:

The only tabacco I smoke is the occasional cigar. I like to dabble in other smoking activities every now and then though. Chewing is whats killing me, I'm not even physically addicted, I can go for days without a dip if I don't think about it, then once I think about it I just need one. I started chewing when I was 14 I think, I'm 18 now.

I'm smoke free. I know second hand smoke sort-of count as smoking, but not really. I'm surrounded by smokers almost constantly, but oh well. I don't smoke because its a very bad habit that can and will eventually kill you. I'll probably die sooner than im supposed to because of second hand smoke.. But that wont be for a long time. My girlfriend also quit smoking because i wanted her to. She still takes a hit off of a cigarette every now and then (maybe one hit/week) but its alot better than how she used to smoke.

When my girlfriend and i first got together, she used to smoke.. I tried smoking once or twice, and thought it was horrible both times. Every once and a while a friend or two of mine wind up having a Black and Mild (if you've heard of them. they're basically small cigars that taste good), and i have a hit (not inhaling like its supposed to be) just because they want to see me do it. It's not really peer pressure, because they arent pressuring me to do it and its not like they care. I don't ever smoke them by myself, nor take more than 1 hit off of it every time i see one. I don't even try them most of the time.

Er. yeah.

i smoke all sorts of stuff all the time i love it cant get enough, started when i was 12 and im now 22, i know im gonna die but that happens to all in life

I'd love to. Can't afford 'em though.

Millencolin, where do you get your's?

Also, are Cigars worse for you than Cigarettes? I've never known this.

They're no better for you than cigarettes, if not a little worse. Even though you don't inhale a cigar, the smoke is harsher and there's more of it. The difference is that cigars aren't addictive, and nobody (I hope) smokes cigars as often as somebody addicted to cigarettes smokes.

The occasional cigar won't kill you and can be enjoyable, it's just not something to make an everyday habit out of.

I've read somewhere that 99% (or some high percentage, I'm not sure on the exact number) of alcoholics are also addicted to cigarettes. The fact is very believable. Has anyone else heard this?

Yes. I believe that statistic is for people under the influence of Alcohol.

I know many people who only smoke while drinking alcohol.

A while ago as students we were looking into the effects of nicotine on the body. Nicotine gets into the bloodstream fast. Seven seconds, and your blood can only absorb a certain amount. After the first two drags of a cig, you have reached your threshold and basically smoking the rest is just for comfort!

I was telling my friends this the other day when we were all outside for a cigarette and they immediatly gave me **** and told me I should put my cigarette out after 2 hits.

I tried to smoke once and it was ****ing disgusting :yuck:
Smoke sucks! 👍

im not a 'go with the crowd type person', for one, i do not smoke or drink, i dun see the point
Another thing, i dun see why its so common for College kids, here in Swansea anyway, or anywhere for that matter, to have stupid large exhausts put on the back of their crappy lil Vauxhall Corsa 1.0. LoL, its like, WTF!?
i mean its not like the poor dam machine is gonna move any quicker, it just sounds like its a pieca junk. not to mention Boom Boom music, Listen to sum Damn Good AC/DC!

Yeh, im a loner, n damn proud of it lol. Yeh, im goin off topic a bit, ah well no matter, i hate smoking, It kills too many people in horrific ways for me to ever show a glance of interest....Not to mention u look stupid when u smoke anyway, a puny lil white stick u suck on....lol, well now thats ****in gross...Even for u Cheap hookers....

I've never smoked cigarettes and never will. It's disgusting, and horribly bad for you, and others. However..... in early 2003, like Feb. or March., i did smoke my first cheap (and i mean CHEAP) cigar. It was a cold night in Kuwait, and my Sgt. and our SAW gunner talked me into smoking a Hav-a-Tampa with them. So i did, and of course i inhaled a couple times, cause i didn't know what the hell i was doing, but i liked it. It gave me a buzz. And i smoked cheap cigars, and not so cheap cigars for the rest of the deployement. There area VERY FEW guys in the Army that don't have some kind of nicotine habit. Having a cheap cigar during your mid-night guard shift really helps keep the lids up. I still enjoy a good cigar, i just dont go out of my way to smoke them.

Back on cigarettes: Few things are worse than seeing some Fine-arse babe whip out a pack of cigarettes and light up. or, pull out a new pack and start bashing it against her other hand. Do you smokers realize how stupid you look 'packing' your cigarettes? not to mention how annoying it is? Few things are worse than hott chicks smoking. :yuck: what a turn off!

How so? Some people eat with these stupid metal things with points on it...kind of like a pitchfork! And some people rub sudsy white stuff all over themselves in the shower!

How is smoking a dried leaf so odd? This tradition was probably in effect long before the fork or soap was invented.

It's always been around. Christ, the Red Indians smoked whatever they could or whatever. The Aborigines over here smoked whatever they could. It's tradition. But I still don't do it now, and I don't plan to. I'm not fussed about people smoking around me though.

Well I thought i would revive this thread!

I'd like to hear more recent thoughts about smoking.

After around 3 years of smoking i decided to give up, I gave up on the 1st September 06, i know its not long but im really determined, i'm finding it very hard at weekends but i have stuck to it. Three of my closest friends smoke and i find it very hard, they keep offering me one on the sly as though they think i am desperate for a cigarette, but so far i have managed to refuse all offers and i actually see a big difference in my bank balance! Often when i bought cigarettes i would buy chewing gum, sweets, crisps or juice or anything i fancied from the shop - instantly saving between £5-£10 a day.

I have a bigger appetite, which is good for me as i aint the biggest of chaps and already making me feel better about myself, i can breathe better and because no one else in my family smokes i now feel better when around them, not making them smell smoke! especially my 2yr old niece as i used to distance myself from her. Only problem now is in the morning i sometimes cant stop coughing and sometimes being sick, but let me tell you its worth it. I have also noticed my brain reacting better (may sound strange but its true) i feel more awake and with more energy, my car smells better too! I cant really take the smell of smoke much anymore it turns my stomach and i cant believe how long i smoked for, i remember when i first started i used to tell myself i could stop whenever i wanted but really i was just denying the fact that i couldnt.

So - So far so good, and i have to say it wasnt anyone or anything that convinced me to stop but myself, i dont think anyone would have been able to persuade me, i just got fed up being smelly and feeling down and spending my hard earned money on a habbit!

i don't smoke and i'm proud of it. i don't really see something useful in smoking, except the industry makes profit... smoking is from my point of view a senseless waste of money and destroys your health!

I don't smoke either. My mom's habits made me make that decision. There's always a cloud right at face level for me to breath, my clothes smell like smoke all the time, and it makes me worry about my cat. When he sits on the kitchen table or next to my mom on the couch the smoke is right in his face. The cough is also kind of embarrasing.

Two or three months ago i would have argued with you about that, now i agree with you, although i do feel sorry for people that still smoke as i know how hard it is to admit its wrong, i can say i did enjoy smoking socially (weekends / nights out) but now i can see i'm better off without it completely.

never smoked-never will

Going for a smoke. BRB.

that's true.......but i think that most people smoke more with friends than without them. my brother smokes 3 cigarettes per day, but when he is with friends he smokes about 10 per day. and i think that's the bad thing!

thanks for agreeing with me barryl85 👍

I don't smoke cigs anymore!

Yay! Good job, Max. Keep going strong.

Well, suprisingly I've been around smoking literaly all my life, and I still haven't taken a puff. I've been around cigs from day 1 since both my parents and grandparents each smoke about a carton a week. Just recently though, a lot of my freinds have taken up smoking, so I'm around it 24/7 now. And not just cigs either, Pipe tobacco, marijuana, anything they can light, they'll smoke it.
It's not really looked down on much here. People see Teens smoking, and it met more with apathy than anything else. My grandprents started smoking when they were 17 and i believe my parents started even earlier. Now, with me being 17, the pressure is on. I'm around second hand smoke all the time, so even though I don't smoke, I feel odd when I'm not around it. Kinda creepy really.

I started very early,at 14,and used to smoke a pack a day.But since my old man died fro lung cancer,I semi quit-now only rarely, when I'm really pissed off.

Well i've smoked since i were around 13, and i ain't planning on quitting yet. I'm fully aware that it's not good for me, but neither are alcohol, computers, traffic, eating certain food and some other psychoactive substances.
Most of those listed above are socially acceptable, and it has nothing to do with it being healthy or not.

One thing that does irritate me is that how people react to smokers. It's okay to complain to others about smoking, even though it's your own body and you're fully aware of the habit. Go blaming and complaining to others about their weight, or driving habits and you won't likely get a nice reply.

I know it's not good to encourage anyone to do anything from the list above, but If your bad habit doesn't cause too much danger to others, and you're liking it, it's your choice as no-other owns your body.

Except for the fact that I don't have to breathe in anybody's fat when I'm in clubs, restaurants, or walking by. Smoking becomes everyone's problem.

i am 15 now (almost 16) and i have a smoke (cig) or two only when ive been drinking. but that is not to often, only at partys and what not. on the not of cigars i had one nd it was quite enjoyable and relaxing. also if i had the chance i would roll up a doobie (mary jane) with one of my friends if the occasion was right :sly:

Pack a day, started at 18, because there is only so many times you can re-stock a fridge before it gets too full to shut properly, and the servo I was working at had maybe 3 customers per hour. I am now rollingmy own, but at the end of this pouch, I am not intending to buy any more.

I don't smoke anything, never have never will.

Well, seeing how I'm a duck, it'd be impossible to smoke, so...
