Smurfing

I created a smurf to test C-races, so I could find out the right strategy. But now I dont need it.

And if i do a rally good race on it, I fell annoyed afterwarts cause I think, dam it, why didnt I played this race with my main account!

So I think I dont use it pretty much

So I created a canadian account to try out American region and race some combos with friends out there. I'm S/S in EU and actually felt a bit bad when lapping people in my first races after having set a top 10 time. Got into top split on the 7th race and won in front of a S/S driver, I earned 3000 DR points and he lost 500 (Daily Race A, 5 laps on Willow Streets), feels like robbing. They should allow people to change region when connecting to sport mode and have a worldwide pool of points.

Im in the Eastern Time Zone in the US and I have been thinking of setting up an alternate acct in another region. I usually play between 8pm-1amEST but I dont want to race in the "off hours" of another region, so I am thinking that the European servers would not be as good of a choice as the Asian servers? I get that by playing during the primetime hours of my current regions wont be in the primetime hours of another, but I think playing against breakfast racers in Asia will give me more competition than late night Euorpe. Any recommendations?

I think the Asia Region would be a better choice for your hours.

Why not make an account for both? It won't matter in the beginning anyway since you'll be matched with D/E drivers. It might be a fun experiment to see your progression between the two regions.

*spits out cereal*
Genius!

@ OP: No. If you're fool enough to judge a book by it's cover you're in the wrong game. Take every driver as being experienced until they prove they aren't.

Better to remain smurfy and be thought of a noob than act hardcore and be branded a Leeroy Jenkins. :)

Jo-in us
Jo-in us :D
And for "Maximum Smurfiness" choose a country with less players, so you'll look really good when you check your Country ranking on www.jasonguernsey.net/gts/
Damn... I should've did that! I registered with the most populated country in the other regions (UK, USA) :ouch:

i wanted to make a top split asian account but frankly it's too boring to grind all the way up to S. even if you win every race it's still days of work and everyone you race against on the way up suffers too

It actually doesn’t take that long. I did a 2nd Account too, but the reason for doing this was, because a few months ago there was this Grip Bug. I didn’t knew if I was affected and after having reached Dr.S/S, I was unsure if my rating was earned fair. So I decided to make a 2nd Account to prove if i‘m worth being there. Well, after 3 Days i did it again. You can see it in my Signature.
Edit: I even had or 4 or 5 disconnecting errors. Otherwise I would have been near 70k.

A lot of races, though. Surely 50 or more to reach S even at 1k DR gained per race

According to the GT Sport Stats site, there are 1303 DR S drivers (I'm assuming that's worldwide.) Knowing that many people have multiple accounts, I wonder how many of those are different people. Very possible that the real number of DR S drivers is much smaller. 1000? 800? Who knows?

Mine averages to around 75 per account to get S

I'm guessing around the region of 500-700 actually, since I'm betting around half of S/S players made a second account as they got into a racing team and got S/S there as well

Absolutely, I needed 47wins out of 94 races until I reached S. Once in Dr.S i only managed to get 19 more wins out of 52 races, with maybe 100-300 points. But not finishing in the top 3 meant a huge loss everytime.
But anyway, what I actually wanted to say referring to the topic is, that smurfing is honorless in my opinion. 0 % satisfying and just pitiful.
Same goes to intentionally lowering Sr to get easier grids. I mean what’s the point in racing slower opponents?! No thanks.
Edit: I can proudly say, that all my races I did, were against Sr.99 folks.

Well this is annoying, turns out the Canadian flag gives me more bhp because I’m wayyy more successful with my US account than my main Euro one.

I found the same thing on the US. A look at their Top 10 times explains this phenomenon. The Top 3-5 people there are amongst the world's fastest, but the times below them fall off dramatically
Nah U.S players on average are slower.
^What I'm trying to say minus the sugarcoat

Really sorry if this is off topic but since I've seen this mentioned a few times before when you say lower SR do you mean lower DR?

I only ask because I always thought of the ratings as SR is how clean you drive, and DR how fast you are consistently. What I'm trying to say is I'd assume if you lower your DR you'd automatically be playing against slower opponents, rather than lowering your SR where you'd have dirtier races. Which may or may not tank your SR and DR further than you'd want?

Sorry if I'm missing something here but I'd really like if someone could explain this to me.

It's because of two things:
1. Sport Mode ranks you with your SR first and foremost. Qualifying times and DR come second, if at all.

2. The general trend is that the faster guys stay at SR S, with the lower rankings generally being slower. This is why S/A and S/B players are rarer than S/S players. There will be the occassional alien that found themselves in a lower SR ranking but generally speaking lower SR people are easier targets.

Taking these two into account, by lowering your SR ranking, you will not have to race with the top dogs, which makes your life easier :)

Matching seems to be based on SR first, then by DR. So dropping DR isn't a good way to get matched against slower drivers.

Generally, the faster drivers have SR at 99 or very near. When your SR drops you get matched against lower SR drivers and the DR ratings are almost always much lower as well. This is because it's hard to win races when you keep getting penalties.

If you want easier wins, it's a quick process to drop your SR rating and get matched against slower drivers. One thing to remember is with all the stats available, it's a bit suspicious when someone appears to be tanking their SR.

I still don’t get why people do this, I actually enjoy racing in a lobby of mostly S/S drivers, my door number is usually high teens (I’m A/S) so I always gain a bunch of DR by finishing higher as there’s usually a few shunts or disconnects. I gained 500 DR finishing 15th once.

On the flipside if you’re the quickest in the room you have lots to lose, a mistake or a disconnect could cost you big time if a bunch of C or D’s finish ahead of you.

I suppose seeing how you stack up against drivers in other regions is alright, but I don't like the tiny lag differences when racing against some of them in public rooms, especially if it's going to tell me I bumped them even if i clearly didn't on my screen.
