Welcome to Division 3 June 2018 season of SNAIL. We need to fill all of the below positions prior to race time Sunday. Please post in this thread if you are interested.

Division Manager - @Tecticles
Back-Up Division Manager -
Assists with all facets of the division, including organizing the race night duties. Hosts the party chat for duty holders.

Host - @racingchamp30
Backup Host - @Tecticles
2nd Backup Host -
Opens and manages the lobby, including qualifying and race start times.


Scorekeeper - @JamCar0ne
Backup Scorekeeper - @basswerks1
Live scoring, updating the score sheet after each race. Requires access to the data sheet after each race.


Replay Uploader - @racingchamp30
Backup Replay Uploader - @stelephant
All replays must be shared in game accurately / uploaded in the proper place no later than 8PM ET on the Monday following our Sunday night races, and be "tagged" under search tag #1 using the following naming convention: YYYYMMDDdxrxrx To break that down YYYY = year of race, MM = month of race, DD = date of race, dx = division#, rx = round#, rx = race#. An example of this would be 20171203d1r3r2 = 2017 Dec. 3 Division 1, Round 3, Race 1.

Someone who can quickly relay messages from the DM or Host via text to those not in the party chat. Keyboard isn't required, but is recommended.

Woot! New season! I'll be racing this weekend (June 10) but will be on trip to San Francisco next weekend and will miss (June 17). Hoping to find a cool bar to catch some Le Mans while I'm there, if anyone has any recommendations.
 
If need be I can be the DM, host, and texter( if anyone has a keyboard it would be better). I can't keep score or do data so we definitely need those filled including backups. If you have any questions in particular to scorekeeping, as much as I hate to volunteer anyone for anything I know @SAMHAIN85 helps people via chat for those that have any questions. The only reason I mention him is because he has always taken free time to help me anytime I have asked for help( and we all know if he would help me he would certainly help anyone, cuz I'm kinda a dick.)
 
I'm gonna re-read the FUD/OLR/whatever you wanna call it after work tonight and see if I cant help out kids are always on the computer so it kinda limits me but I dont mind helping one bit

Since champ is in the division, he will probably want host and replay uploader. they are the jobs he usually takes. As for DM it's all yours, with summer here my schedule is tight and I haven't been racing much.

I can be Score keeper.

For those wanting to help out and want to start simple, give the texter job a shot. It is super easy, even with the DS4 controller. The on-screen keyboard has suggestive text, which really helps speed things up. Also, the super easy part is the copy/paste function! Type out your most used message, such as: "This is a private race league event, please visit snailracing.org for information on how to join" then find the 3 dots key on the on screen keyboard and click it. Choose Select All and Copy. Now the message is in your clipboard and when ever you need it, simply click the 3 dots and choose Paste.
 
A question for the BoD to be honest I'm not sure who all is on the BoD so I will just tag @JLBowler . Regarding the OLR section 4.1 about TCS and driving line being available. My question is does a driver need to request these aids be made available or does the host need to have these aids available? There was some discussion about the OLR and what we should do Sunday so to cover bases I requested they be available. I know the request part of the OLR was there because previously in SNAIL if you used the aids you weren't eligible for promotion. That has changed which is also stated in the OLR, so I guess I am asking for a clear direction the lowest division should take in the future.

Does the request have to be made by a current division driver or does the host need to have these settings available?

Ideally, drivers won't use these aids mainly because in the event of a promotion, they would not have access to them. Having the aids available allows for new drivers to slowly wean themselves off of using the aids.

@racingchamp30 How would you prefer this is done, a request in the room on Sunday night or a request in this thread anytime prior to the room opening on Sunday night?

D3 being "entry level" they said we can use if we want but it behooves you not to in case you're bumped up and therefore unable to anymore. I don't use TCS but doesn't bother me if others do b/c their exit speeds will suffer although I hear that counter steer assist is practically cheating (not proven, but definitely discussed a lot), so that being disabled seems fair.

As @ChauncyMarsh explained very well. D3 is normally going to be the entry point for a new driver that is accustomed to using aids of some type. Allowing TCS and the driving line allows for a smoother transition if someone needs it. It would be in the driver's best interest to quit using the aids as soon as possible because they will not be available should that driver be promoted.

Counter steer assist and, previously, skid recovery force have never been allowed and it's highly unlikely they ever would be allowed to be used.
 
All, thank you for the clarification on this subject, as I appreciate it. While I have not used any aids for the past several months, I still struggle at some courses with my overall speed. I am amazed at what some drivers can do, in regards to putting down lap times, and hopefully my skill improves enough to get at that level. Practicing the combos as much as possible will certainly help, as well as being part of this great group of guys and gals. Many years of experience and wisdom here, I can see that. All of that should contribute to eventual better outcomes and finishing positions for me, I'm sure.
I just completed my 4th week in D3 last Sunday, and I must say, I am enjoying the racing up to this point. Very fair, very sportsmanlike, versus running the dailies in GTS. I need to learn better car control, that is overabundantly clear to me.

I think anytime before 9 pm Eastern time Sunday should be sufficient for the host to see it before he opens the room. Otherwise all aids will be off for the course of the night. Hope this is clear for everyone, and look forward to more fun races.

This past Sunday was quite a bit of fun for me, some nice clean and close racing.

I will be practicing the new combo's as early as tonight in an online lobby for any who are interested. I should be running for at least a couple hours, opening the room between 8 and 830 Eastern. Please feel free to add me via psn if you want, and all are welcome.

Not everyone reads the thread. I know this from previous experience as a division manager trying to fill duties. Think it better to have the request made in lobby via text chat box.
