IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

As a continuing effort by the BoD to streamline our procedures to ensure everyone has an enjoyable experience racing SNAIL we are introducing the following Qualification Rules effective immediately.

These rules should be followed on Thursday night during official practice so we can test and adjust where necessary.

New Qually Rules

Upon entering prior to the first race of the night or upon having the room reset before the first race of the next combo, immediately drive to a spot beyond turn one that is well off the racing line and line up single file. (For Division 4, our Scorekeeper will move to the front of the line and await the "Greenlight" from the host.) The host will remain on pit road during this time.

Once the driver count has been verified, the host will give instructions to start qualifying and leave pit road to join in at the back of the line. Drivers should give 5 seconds between the driver in front of them leaving and when they start. Drivers should always keep an eye on the map. Do not take-off if another driver is approaching from behind on his hot lap.

Qually is not the race. If you get caught from behind on qually be kind enough not to block. Leave room for the driver to pass.

All drivers will complete an out lap and one hot lap for qualifying.

If, at any time during the out lap or the hot lap, a driver COMPLETELY leaves the racing surface for any reason, they are to pull completely off the track and out of the way and wait for the qualifying session to end. They are not to attempt to re-enter the track for any reason. (It was explained, that a small off, like just going wide off the track surface and maintaining speed is ok to re-enter with caution. If speed is dramatically lost in this instance, pull off track.)

Once drivers have completed their hot lap, they are to stop on the track far enough past the start finish line as to not be a distraction to anyone finishing a lap.

Once the host has completed his hot lap, he will check that no non-members have entered (kick as necessary) and start the race.

This can be modified for shorter tracks or to change from 5 seconds if deemed necessary.

Failure to comply with Qually Rules will result in a disqualification for that specific race.

Replay Save and Uploading Process
Immediately after a race, save it to the GT Sport cloud and then share to all. The naming convention in the first tag button is important so we can search for it. The name of the file (which is optional) should be the room name

Example: For Division 4 Round 1 Race 2 or would be:
Tag#1: 20171029D4R1R2 to indicate the date, division, round and race (The Tag# doesn't allow spaces, capitals or special characters)

The Name: SNAILRACING.ORG D2R1R2
Comment can be: October 29, 2017

In this universal way, anyone, including Stewards can view replays.

No need to create a sheet. You will be given access to a Google Drive sheet that you will make entries to. Biggest thing is to make sure to take pictures with your cell phone, or screenshot using ps4 the qualifying results for all combos, and the results screen for each race showing place, total race time, and best lap.
Got you down, and thanks for stepping up to help. See you tonight, and good luck.

Ok fellas,
First race night in Snail on GT Sport. I verified and/or sent friend requests with all drivers holding duties for the night. Please enter or create the Party Chat around 9pm est so we can communicate and run tonight as smoothly as possible.
I will be hosting tonight, and the race room will be opened by 9pm est. Please take a minute to review the qualifying procedure below so we all are onboard.
Qualifying procedure for tonight:

For the first combo:
1. As always, the host opens the room at 9:00 PM Eastern and as the drivers come in they can enter the track to make sure there are no connection issues - and immediately proceeds to the last corner before the start finish straight and wait in that area.
2. Typer enters "Proceed to Last Corner" as new drivers enter
3. At 9:30 pm, after everbody is at the last corner and there are no further connection issues, the typer will enter the message "Start Qualifying" (Host take note of the time stamp, or run his own stop watch or something)
4. Drivers space themselves out a bit and start their hot laps. (Host/timekeeper will be last driver to start qualifying)
5. After 5 minutes the host starts the race. (If there are late comers, they will still get in, but they will automatically start at the back if they can't get a hot lap in)
6. Scorekeeper, please take note of the fastest qualifying time and enter the time in the score sheet

For the Second and third combos:
1. Host change room settings
2. Everybody enters the track and immediately proceeds to the last corner (Typer enters "Proceed to last corner")
3. When everybody is there, typer enters "Start Qualifying". (Host take note of the time stamp, or run his own stop watch or something)
4. Drivers space themselves out a bit and do their hot laps. (Host/timekeeper will be last driver to start qualifying)
5. After 6 minutes for the Porsche or 5 min for the Ferrari, the host starts the race.
6. Scorekeeper, please take note of the fastest qually time and enter the time in the score sheet

With the first Combo there will be about 5, maybe 6 laps available, so there is enough time to get a hot lap in
With the Prosche there is an extra minute, so you easily get two hot laps
With the Ferrari the second hot lap might be a little tight, so don't defend your position if you made a mistake - please let a faster car through without impeding him.

Please clear your in-game cache immediately upon entering race room, and then wait for instruction.
Lastly, I would like to ask everyone to save replays for all races and keep until it is verified that all replays have been submitted by the uploaded.
Good luck to everyone tonight, and see you all at race time.

Division 4 room is up.

Good luck tonight. Keep it clean and let's have some fun.

Looks like someone filled it in. Nova your FL for race is not in there. Everything else looks good. Ill wait to hear from you on what I need to do if anything.

I can't do the sheet on my computer but was able to edit on my phone. I put your FL in nova on the first race. Edit Ok I just checked and your FL time is in there nova. So it looks like it will work from my phone.

Hey Gents,
Please have a read and review of the link above for this thread's first post; especially regarding the new qualifying process. We will likely have more drivers than party chat slots tonight, and I would like to know that everyone is on the same page before tonight's room is opened.

Regarding Party Chat, I would ask that only the Duty Holders enter the primary Party Chat at 9pm-9:15pm est. No one else is to enter the party chat, and NO additional party chat rooms should be open per BoD. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/◆-snail-spec-racing-switching-to-the-ps4-and-gt-sport-starting-on-october-29th.235094/page-3822#post-12038540 Please pay close attention to the text box for any instruction.

After reviewing the link above and this post, please acknowledge by selecting the "Like" button in this post. This way, I know who is familiar with the format and who may not be.

Race Room will be opened at 9:00pm est. Please try to get in as early as possible, and be sure to clear your cache before entering track. Good Luck to everyone racing tonight, and see you at race time.

Regarding Party Chat, I would ask that only the Duty Holders enter the primary Party Chat at 9pm-9:15pm est. After 9:15, remaining Party Chat slots can be filled by first come first serve. A secondary Party Chat will likely be opened by a driver selected by the Host to administer a secondary Party Chat room. He must be familiar with Snail processes, will help answer any questions, and verify that all mics are muted/off for the qualifying and race.

I haven’t figured out how to clear my cache on the PS4 yet and when I searched online all I found was doing a hard reset.

When in the race room, go to the GT icon at top left of screen. Select "options", and go to network. It should give you a delete temp files prompt. Hit that and your good to go.

Hello D4.
I can be the Texter if you need one. That tip that Gunny gave is really good.
All yours Wolfsatz. Thanks for the help. Party chat for duty holders will be open at 9pm est. See you then.

Reminder, daylight savings time ended last night. As b of this post, it is 7:12pm est. Please verify your clocks.

Well guys... my wheel is not cailbrating and it is stuck on left.. and sadly these are not Nascar ovals...
If I cannot fix it I'll be force to call it a night.

power surge...lost power. coming in now.

I believe the 3 minute timer should still apply. Need to confirm that.

Apologies if a jumped the gun. Also, I think the backup DM should be the first one yo enter the room in case of disconnects, and prevent what happened in the last race.

I don’t know why we didn’t restart for you. What is the normal procedure when someone leaves and then joins the room on the first lap?
I know it used to be if you lost connection or power during open lobby, qually, or before the race officially starts, the host should give 3 minutes to receive communication or a return to the room. Upon returning that driver would start at the back on a manual grid up or his designated position if he lost connection after posting his qually time.

What is the official procedure for lost connection or power? I had a power surge in my house just as I began my qualifying hotlap for Round3/Race1. Should the room have waited to start the race until I got back within the 3 minutes, or should the race be started immediately as it was? I posted here, and came back immediately to the race already being started. Just want to clarify so this does not happen again.
