I used to love snow when I was still in school. Listening to the radio for school closures(at least in Oregon, we are afraid of snow here), playing in the snow outside......

Today, I have no "work closures". Snow means I gotta chain up the tires and drive in the snow to go to work.

lol i know the feeling, im a dairy farmer and even if the roads are closed by the state they have to let us go to work because the cows still have to get milked.

Gah, no snow up here. There's maybe an inch, tops, on campus, and only in certain spots. It snowed for Christmas, then all melted suddenly on New Year's. Not that I really mind; all I want is a white Christmas, and after that, summer weather wouldn't be met with complaints.

We had 11 below 0 F this morning.... Now wind, and the roads have been snow packed since Christmas... Happy, happy..., Joy, joy... :)

Bah!... We got ½ an inch mid december, not a trace since.. I LOVE snow - The more the better...

Sucks to be me - and my GT4 hasn't arrived yet either :grumpy:

i've only seen snow on the ground on christmas in arkansas.

its the first time i've ever seen snow, but i have yet to see snow actually fall.

The 5 and the 15 FWY were both shut down because of snow and black ice. It's cold here in SoCal too. And my heater hasn't worked for 48 hours.

Our stats in ND as of 2 minutes ago:

We are at a total of a foot and a half of snow from the past week here in SE Wisconsin. Last night we got a foot of the junk. We are snowed in and nothing is open. School was called at 5:20 this morning. None of the roads are plowed or anything. They only have salt which is doing nothing because it is too cold. The plow should eventually arrive. I am suprised they haven't closed the interstate yet. Their aren't any tow trucks left because they are all pulling somebody out of the ditch. Usually when it gets to that point they close the highway. Most of the town don't want anybody going anywhere and are declaring Snow Emergencies.

lucky. I freakin love the cold stuff. We got an ice storm late tuesday, and the roads were all iced up. My school was closed today and yesterday. :dopey: It looks surreal, everything that is above ground is either covered in ice, or has hundreds of icicles hanging from it.

Yeah, it is still slick by us because before it started to snow Monday it rained. Then Monday evening it started to snow and hasn't stopped since. It is still snowing. In the last hour we have gotten about an inch. The plow still hasn't come yet. It stinks that our city has a 6 inch rule. If we have six inches of snow or less in a 24 hour period the plows will only salt. If we get more than 6 inches then the plow will plow the snow. It only costs them 200,000 dollars a day to salt and 500,000 dollars a day to plow. The plows are doing the main streets of our city now, I live on the edge so the plow comes here last. The neighbors tried to leave their house but got stuck on the road out in front of it. Their SUV wasn't far enough off of the ground so the snow was getting stuck underneath it. It looked weird where it had drove because a thin layer of snow had been pushed away because it wasn't heigh enough. I am sure they scratched it before they left too. They took a broom to it and brushed all of the snow off of it. Most of us just take a scraper to the window and don't worry about the rest of the car, but they wiped off the whole thing with a broom.

In typical Toronto fashion, we didn't get snow today like we were supposed to. Instead, we get sleet! Yay! Even worse for driving!

There's no snow here, even if we're supposed to have snow into mid-april. So far, there's been snow for two-three weeks in november, and one in december, and that's it.

And guess what, I love it. School closures is a myth here, if we get two feet of snow it means I have to wade an entire mile in it, just to get to the bus stop so I can get to school. Just once was I lucky enough to get a ride to the bus stop with my farm-tractor-driving neighbour. That was actually fun, because you can see all the mechanicals working to get the tractor forward, and hear the engine revving up and down as the autobox constantly up- and down-shifts to provide as much power to the wheels as possible.

Anyway, spring's here, and that makes me happy.

I live in Peru, NY - just under Cananandanada. It gets freakishly cold one day, then the temp shoots up about 15 degrees and melts everything to slush, which then freezes and makes black ice and kills people. This place sucks. 👎

Funny you post that. The sleet that I was talking about just changed to giant snowflakes, and then proceded back to sleet within minutes. I hate random changes in weather, no matter how minor.

And if you think we've got bad weather in this area, you should see Calgary. They can have a 20-30 degree celcius change in temperature in a single day. And I'm serious.

Harsh! I couldn't live like that...but I guess I'll have to deal. Once I get my bachelor's in IT and such, I'm hoping to make a move up that way. I've metioned in another thread that I have friends in Calgary and BC - though I doubt I'll ever afford a move to that side of the continent, lol.

No snow here. There actually WAS snow last year (2 weeks ago) but that about it. I really, really love snow.

@ Cardude: Now that type of snow I don't mind. It looks nice, and it's too much fun to play in. We never get that snow in cities. :(

@ Ten: About the only thing that's bad about Calgary is the weather. Otherwise, it's an amazing city. I was there in 2001 visiting family and I loved it. Very clean, nice people, and a much nicer vibe than Toronto. I could possibly be attending university there in the fall!

I've got an '86 Ford Bronco II - it's got a basic rideheight for the vehicle....on top of snow drifting off the side of the house, and the average snowfall today, it's buried nearly up to the windows. :scared:

Ev0 - Indeed, I've heard great things about Calgary. I look forward to the move, and I think that if I'm happy in my surroundings, I should be able to deal with the weather. I'm very excited about trekking up north. ^_^

It snowed in the lower part of New York too where I am. The roads look pretty clear now, but ice is problem in certain areas and cars parked on the street car still covered in ice/snow.

This isn't mine, mine's an awesome 3-tone paintjob: Navy, Silver, and Rust
But this should give you an idea of how deep the snow is on the side of my house. :ouch:
