Anybody know if their will be drag racing in the game? I wish they would have it like they did in sega gt for dreamcast where you would actually have to do it to complete the game and get money for it. Plus aren't they including muscle cars this time? That will make it even more fun.

I can't understand how anyone would have fun doing that in a GT, all you do is hit the gas and shift. It's a waste of time for PD to put that in; I think most people would agree that they would rather have PD spend more time and money on more cars or better AI than drag racing. There would be no skill involved you just need a fast car and you win; there is no challenge to it. I think also think it goes against everything that GT series is trying to be. You get to drag off the line at the beginning of every race anyways.

Even the people that really want it, like yourself, would realise that it's boring after a few minutes. Drag racing could be fun in a game, but not in the GT series, it just can't capture all the subtleties that make drag racing fun in real life, like a clutch and actually shifting gears. I don’t know, I guess I just don’t see it being very fun for anyone, maybe it could be, but I doubt it.

Either way I seriously doubt that drag racing will be in GT4.

as good as PD is at car physics they could do it really well. They could get all the sublties of drag suspension and shifting and it would be a load of fun. They had it in sgea GT 2002 for Xbox and it IS alot of fun. Plus all the muscle cars I love turn like dumptrucks and it would be cool to use them in their own element. Wanting to leave something out of a game is just being closed minded cause those dudes at PD can do anything

Okay maybe it can be fun if done right. I think it would require a lot of work, which will only make the rest of the game less good, or it would cause it come out much later. I think it should be left as a separate game, or an extension that can be purchased separately. However, the way GT works right now I don’t think would do justice to drag racing.

I never played Sega GT 2002 how does the drag racing work in that?

I think drag racing would be a good adition to GT. If nothing else at least put it in arcade mode.

Just because you don't find it fun doesn't mean everybody else hates it. Why would PD put the 400m and 1000m in then if its a waste of time? You don't even get to race anybody with that so if anything thats a waste of time. When you think about it also, when you race on a course all your doing is accelerating/braking and turning. Sometimes I get tired of racing and I like to see how good I can tune my car.

Who knows, the answer is nobody does ;) Think about this for a second, they are including the Chevelle SS 454, Pontiac GTO, the 'Cuda, etc... All of these cars were made for one reason, and one reason only, to beat the other guys off the red light, or at the local drag strip. If they are including these, they obviously know they handle like garbage, and are meant only to drag race, so maybe, since they are including these cars, they have already implemented drag racing, but we just haven't seen anything of it yet. It would make sense. PD knows those cars aren't, and never were meant to be road racers, so if they are going to all the trouble of making them, they will probably make races to suit them, and use them in. Just my thoughts :)

Possibly in the way they have FF, FR, MR, 4WD series', they may have a Drag Race, or 1/4 mile series, with only those cars usable, you never know, that's the beauty of surprise and intrigue :p

Yeah because two was supposed to have it but ran out of time and also had some muscle cars. They even had a car called Drag 180sx that was supposed to be a drag car also. Plus the fact that you can only get up to 98.2 or somthing because drag racing was supposed to be the rest of it.

What does drag racing have to do with grand touring? Nothing. Drag racing has no place AT ALL in Gran Turismo.

Please dont tell me you are one of the idiots that want body kits in GT4, because that has less relevance than what drag racing does

Are you talking about racing modifications? If so then yes I would like to see racing modifications like from GT2. Oh and I'm not an idiot.

Here we go again.

Gran Turismo is a DRIVING SIMULATOR. Not a Rice Boy simulator.

I'm talking to anyone who thinks there should be drag racing and or body kits in GT. This has been going on since GT2 and it's getting old.

Whats wrong with racing modifications? Cuz they make the car look "ricey"?

Its a waste of space, just like some say drag racing is. There is no purpose for it in Gran Turismo.
Its just the same as what you said in your first post.
What do body kits have anything to do with grand touring?
Grand touring isnt about looks

If thats the case then why have cars that have colors? Why not just make them all black or grey or whatever.

'm not a real fan of bodykits in the GT series, but it would be nice to be able to change downforce on a normal car....

I think that drag racing would be pointless in GT. I'm not saying that it would be pointless in a game, but i've gotta agree that GT is about racing, be that road or track, but not about driving in a straight line for 10 seconds.
Ignoring the specifics such as space on the disc and time taken to produce this, I think that having R mods (one or two designs for each car) again would be a welcome come back. The touring cars have spoilers, kits and other add ons, so what's up with having fun and turning your skip into not only a fast car, but a nice looking one too. I thought that that was really good fun in GT1 and GT2, i'd love to see a come back

I've just had another thought...

What if instead of the 400m and 1000m solo tests, they could perhaps add another car of similar standard to your own (arcade stylee and with the option of removing the other car for those who wouldn't want to drag race) for sort of drag-esque play whilst testing your cars times still for those distances? It surely wouldn't be that hard to put in, you wouldn't loose the test section... PLUS all those drag fanatics would stop complaining about not having the ability to waste their time drag racing?

All I asked if their was any info on wheter or not their is gonna be drag racing. I don't care if you guys think its pointless because they were gonna put it in number 2. Just because its supposed to be about racing on courses doesn't mean you can't have a little drag racing in it.

No, there will be no drag racing, nor body kits, or trucks in GT4 based on current information.

I don't know why people would suggest they want drag racing in GT. Would it make you play more? Do you think it would make GT more challenging? Or, do you find playing GT like it's supposed to be to hard for you and all you want to do is race in a straight line?

Same applies to trucks and body kits in GT. Why do you think they should be in there? "cause, it wuld b illin', d0gg!" Why? Trucks would be pointless and aftermarket body kits would tarnish GT's name.

There is a perfectly good game that let's you street race, Japanese style. Tokyo Xtreme Racer: Zero for PS2 lets you customize your car anyway you wish, including body kits. It's actually quite fun to play and it doesn't require the skills you need to play GT.

There are two more games that are coming out that you may also like. Need for Speed: Underground and Street Racing Syndicate.

Something that you have to understand. Even though you may not like drag racing, it is a form of racing in real life whether you want to admit it or not, just like oval racing. I'll be the first to admit it, I don't like drag racing in real life, nor do I really like NASCAR. But, it is a form of racing, and just adds another form of racing to a game, so it has more variety. It has nothing to do with challenge, or skill, just variety, and some of you need to realise that. If they are putting in muscle cars, which sole purpose was to drag race, don't you think they might have drag racing in it? Come on people.

Drag racing is NOT what GT is about. Some of you fail to realize that.

Nobody said that, if you would read what people are trying to say.
