Just a small reminder of the constructor championship after one race (remember that Mercedes as not been taken out by anyone, their ranking is a result of the performance of the car and a mistake (surely because of a bad car) by Schumacher).
They have good qualification pace but race pace is just horrible. So yeah so far Mercedes is not ahead of anyone for me. If they can fix the tyre wear problem we'll talk again.

Thought I'd just point out Schumacher retired due to gearbox problems, and Rosberg picked up a puncture from Maldonado stuff on the last lap, and was 12th. Though Rosberg wasn't that fast in the race anyway.

Win: It's possible, but Mercedes will have to work on tyre degradation and keep up in the development race. Check!
Podium: Definitely. Check!
Pole Position: Definitely. Check!

Don't let me down tomorrow, Mercedes.

Well, that was quick. I didn't expect Nico to win, but I thought a podium was possible. What a shame Schumacher had to retire.
I'm going to hold you to this. :D

;)

I'm still adamant he won't get a win unless it falls into place for him...

:nervous:

I don't think Schumacher is there to win. At this point in his career he's basically there to help Rosberg do the best he can, as evident during the Chinese GP up until he had to retire from the race.

With that being said, if the pieces fell together, there's no way he wouldn't try to extend his GP win record.

So, can Vettel win a race in 2012? :sly:

I think he can once Red Bull and himself started to gather up and solve all the problems that they're having. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins, would be surprised if he doesn't this year...

His best opportunity will probably be on the slower circuits where top speed isn't really a factor, like Monaco or Hungary. Other than that, wins are more likely to come once Red Bull get the RB8 up to par.

Isn't it because they took out the triple blown diffuser or something? So he's having problems with grip?

The Exhaust Blown Diffuser mate ;)

Sorry for the off-topic discussion on Vettel but yes, it seems like the tighter and slower circuit maybe no longer suit the Red Bull currently because it can be seen that Vettel struggle to keep the power down without dancing its tail. That RB8 is a confusing car, really. We don't know where it actually is good unlike its predecessor...
