I was wondering if anyone has succesfully made a back-up of the game. The game uses a dual layer DVD and is 6 gig or something, therefor unable to fin onto a single layer. Can PS2's play dual layer back-ups ok. I have made a backup copy of the game but don't know if my DVD writer can burn a dual layer or not.

Yes, but mines is 6.1 gig in a WinRAR archive, since I only have 200 mb left on my hard-drive. I kinda messed up my GT4 disk, and can't read some parts to well so takes ages to load, so a fresh copy should do the trick (i had the same problem with MGS3 Snake eater and it worked wonders when i made a backup copy of it)

I assume you mean illegal copy.... hmmmmm. 👎 👎

First off, I do not know the answer to my question, therefor I am asking. I have no intention of being a smart***.
Isn't it legal as long as its for private use only?

i do own the original Japanese copy by the way, but my disk is semi-scratched, which is why i wanted to make a backup. If i can't do this, then i'll have to buy another copy of the game, cos i can't stand waiting 10 mins for a race to load it, where it used to only take a matter of seconds.

doesnt HDloader work?

To answer youre question.........yes you can. How? i dont know. All i know is that burnt game shops are selling GT4 (chinese). They have DL written on them and is the full game. They work perfectly. BUT apparently they had to crack a protection system and it was pretty intense for a PS2 game. So i guess no you cannot burn it unless you can find a way around the copy protection.

Looks like i'm just gonna have to buy me another copy of the game then right now, ( i bought i barnd new ps2 and mod chipped ad a copy of GT4 it just to play it early). Gonna cost me another 15 pounds :indiff:

I'll just do the endurance races while i wait for my new copy to arrive, cos once the race has loaded up (after 6 hours) then it's not so bad until the net race.

This is extremely close to illegal territory. No discussion of bootlegging or piracy will be allowed.

Sorry mate. I just thought that it was legal to make a back-up copy of a game if you own the original version. I paid my money for my GT4, but just wanted to use a back-up version as im havin difficulties, but not to worry, i just purchased another version of the game, which i will not take to my cousins house ever again cos he wil just use it as a Frisby for his dog, like he messed up my last copy by spilling Lucozade all over it.

Already scratched? Damn. I think you should be more careful with your own stuff.

I have discs from PS1, including GT1, that does not have a single scracth. And i played them a lot. All my games look brand new, including their cases and manuals.

Mine also looked healthy because I treat them very well. Unfortunately other people don't, when I got my GT2 back from a friend, it looked like a piece of 🤬! Case broken, scratches all over the disc. Fortunately, it still works. :scared:
Sometimes you just can't avoid these things unless you don't give anybody anything you own.

The way I look at it if I paid good money for GT4 or anything in fact, I would look after it well.

Geez GT4 scratched already, damn......

Why would anyone need to BACK-UP a game, Nothing but PIRACY!! THANKS FOR MAKING THE PRICES GO UP ON GAMES LOSERS!!! Nobody needs a backup, if you scratch disks that often, stop playing your game in the quarry! The rest of the world knows what you're doing.

mrhemi1917 is right. All those guys who dl software make the prices go higher. It is a stupid excuse that you scratch your GT4 disc. Probably you just want to make a copy and found out you don't have a dual layer dvd writer and thought AAH maybe I'll ask for somepeople on the forum. But we will not take part at illegal topics!!!

to all the moderators out here, i would like to say: **** the teddy up ****ers!!

i am really pissed off because you allow such stupid and idiotic threads to appear on this forum but not mines (i realize that they're not a revolution but at least got more interesting question than this!)

In the Uk it is legal to make a backup of any computer software you own, Just in case you lose the media or it fails to work, Because you are not paying for the disk but for the license to use 1 copy of the software on the machine it was intended for. So if the disk is unable to run you still own the licence to run the game. It only becomes illegal if you sell the backup while still in possession of the original which is piracy. So in effect game manufacturers are breaking the law buy stopping you from making a backup copy. But this is a quirk of the Uk software copyright rules , and doesn`t cover things like the video or music industry where you have legally have to by a seperate copy for the car if you want one, I personally only have copies in the car , cos if they go missing all i`ve lost is 10 quids worth of cdr`s. If i`m wrong about the above I`m sure any real legal eagles will point out my mistakes. If sony wanted to they could run a scheme, where if you had registered your purchase of game. Then paid a small nominal fee around £2-5 and sent the damaged disk back, they could replace it with a new one.

If publishers increased software prices due to piracy it would be ironic since increasing the prices would not only reduce sales but increase further piracy. The best thing against piracy is reducing software prices & using cd keys/online modes as a deterant. Game prices will be postioned wherever the publisher thinks they can maximise profits, which means balancing price charged per game & number of sales.

If anything I'd say games are getting cheaper, not more expensive. Atleast if you shop at the right places. If you go out & spend £45 (RRP) on games your a bit of a chump to be honest.

some good points out there....i never even considered pirating console games, though if i am honest, i would do it if i had a chance. i would buy a game, if the price was around...10-20 euros.

games are not getting cheaper .pc games here in slovenia always costed about 10.000 sit and 1 euro is 240 sit. ps2 games are around 14k, ps1 games were aroun 9k. that's more than 50%!!!

How long until this guy gets banned?

wow, the f word got moderated itself.... interesting....

Oh, really? No way. You wouldn't expect a site that has users posting regularly to have a filter that blots out swearwords, would you?

Surely even 12 year old kids such as yourself know that swear filters exist to make sure that no one easily offended sees a swear word and, uh, gets offended by it?

I remember Jazza, oh boy was he a Bogan.

I wish someone would figure out how to get GT4 working on HDLoader though, then I would never ever have to use my GT4 disc again and have nice incredibly quick loading times.
