You see, I bought an 88 rx-7 yesterday and wile driving home I noticed that my fuel cut out when I got to 4k rpms. Redline is 7k if I'm not mistaken. I missing the high end power :( anyone have any ideas what it might be?

I considered it but I cant find anything other then stock Parts (besides a battery too small cuz the guy I bought it off of is cheap) under the hood. Nothing that points tward a governor

Did the guy mention this issue when you bought it? If not, ask him.

Yeah the Rx7 club will have waaay more info than here. Not that here doesn't have a wealth of knowledge, the club will get you the answer your looking for and any future questions. :) Where are the pictures though? ;)

I don't have pictures up yet because it sure isn't easy on the eyes. It needs some tlc. Once i get it into a presentable state, I'l have some before and after pics up. Its a black convertible that was in the sun way too long.

Replace the fuel filter, very cheap and easy to do. Clean/reaplace the air filter.
Start with the basics as it may just be a cheap easy fix.

Is your engine management light/Check engine light on?

Have a read here, not an uncommon problem by the sound of it.

I'll be doing that today. It probably needs it but I doubt it will fix the problem because it not gradual as I get higher my power dies its that as soon as it hits 4k its done. Acts almost like a rev limiter. Thanks fir the link too :)

So far I've checked air filter like you guys suggested. I made sure the 5th and 6th AUX actuators were working. Didn't try the coolant temp sensor because it looks like a pain to get to and I'm that lazy ;)
