And it wasn't good!

Let's see...

- Deadzone is huge, the wheel wobbles on the straights and it's a big problem (GT5 problem)
- Pedals are too sensitive and with very small travel distance
- The clutch pedal isn't progressive nor is the brake
- Pedals are very close together
- You can't adjust FFB strength since the wheel isn't supported for GT5 GT5 I used was v1.00

I just want to congratulate to people who use this wheel, you guys should be given some serious respect.
I heard that G27 is similar to G25 (DFGT-like FFB with G25 functions/design) and if that's the case then I'm so glad I didn't buy it.

- I just wanted to share my experience with this wheel on GT5 and that's why I made this topic in this section

Seems like you're expecting the performance of a $500+ wheel plus a stand-alone pedal solution on a discontinued, budget wheel. No wonder you're surprised.

Have you used a wheel before?

Yes and no.
Used a G25 ages ago on a promotion at a car show with F1 2007 (I think), some wheel on some PC sim at the same car show and DFGT on GT5:Prologue.
1st time ever on GT5 though.

And Coxis, G25/G27 are high-end wheels...well kind-of...
Actualy not, I see it as a wheel which is just a tiny bit above DFGT, and I wouldn't call it budget...

And it wasn't good!

Not so big problems:
- The wheel feels too heavy and it takes some power to rotate it even with FFB off
- The wheel is very loud
- The wheel is small (27cm) and with 900º of rotation it's a real workout

Real problems:
- Deadzone is huge, the wheel wobbles on the straights and it's a big problem
- Pedals are too sensitive and with very small travel distance
- The clutch pedal isn't progressive nor is the brake

the wheel is fine, the problem is you. FFB can be adjusted for a start and the pedals are fine but like any wheel you just have to get a feel for them.

just because you cant use something it doesn't make it bad :dunce:

Ah. It can a while to get used to using them.

You need more time :)

g27 is tottaly different

and there is few settings , you can adjust the heaven-es of the steering wheel and the g27 makes no noise at all .

you got it wrong mate

FFB too high or something broken in the wheel.
- The wheel is very loud
Too high expectations or something broken in the wheel. You should hear the old DFP for a loud wheel.
- The wheel is small (27cm) and with 900º of rotation it's a real workout
If you're having to turn noticably more than 180 degrees in normal track driving you're doing something wrong anyway and about the real workout, well, I probably can't bench press 40 kg but can drive with one hand all day long. FFB on 6 if I remember correctly.

Enough said.
- Pedals are too sensitive and with very small travel distance
Less sensitive than in a real life Toyota Yaris, that's for sure. Down to preference.
- The clutch pedal isn't progressive nor is the brake
Both are, the clutch has around an inch of travel in the middle of the entire travel during which it goes from fully open to fully engaged. Admittedly hard to notice but it's a flaw in GT5, not in the pedal.
- Pedals are very close together
Down to preference, fully workable with a size 43 foot though.
- You can't adjust FFB strength since the wheel isn't supported for GT5
Oh yes you can. 1 is really weak, 10 is too much, that's why I used the mentioned 6. On the G27 you apparently can't adjust it though, can't confirm that as I haven't tried one.

- No, that's a normal G25 issue

- Same as above

- I don't drive race cars all the time

- Again, shows nothing. GT5 has horrible FFB

- Not even close to ones of my real life car

- Felt nothing

- Not with 45 though

- No you can't with G25/G27

I didn't buy the wheel, I tried it at a booth in mall.
I should learn? Yes but it's nowhere near real life.

How did you switch the FFB off if, as you say, you can't adjust it?
I can't recall the last time I used 900º. If you're using 900º degrees regularly, you're doing it wrong. 200º is perfectly adequate for normal driving.

What is the wheel attached to?

However, you can adjust the FFB strength and you are wrong to say you cannot.

What are you wearing on your feet? Try socks.

Now, give the wheel another, long, try. You can't just dismiss it as being crap, especially as one your reasons is just made up.

EDIT: I'm guessing that your wheel is broken, if you say it's loud and the FFB cannot be adjusted.

Sounds to me like that wheel was thrahsed if it was a store display or at a trade show I would not be surprised. The FFB can be ajusted and yes it dose make a differance, yes the brakes can be touchy but if at the start of the race you make a full aplication a couple of times then pause and restart the race the brakes are contrllable.

And time is your friend with a wheel ( any wheel) and GT5 when i first got my G25 (befor GT5 prolog was relesed) it took some getting used too

daan
But then you can't steer. Well, you can, with no strength from you required, but it has no effect in game.

You can steer I'm sure of it.
Just feels like one of those baby wheels in a play pen.

I may be wrong. Thought it was possible.
Let it calibrate first then just unplug the supply and bingo no FF.

Workout? Heavy? Strong Feedback? No adjustable FFB? Wobbles in the straight? Sensitive pedals?

Are you sure? You need more practice with the wheel mate.

My arms aren't those of a wrestler.

And my feet are 44

Ah, I hadn't done that bit.

I have A G27 and the wheel I awsome for what it costs. The FFB is adjustable and the wheel is wisper quite, and on mid setting easy to turn. I've never had problems with the pedals either. Somthing sounds wrong bud.

I tried both 1 and 10 and I felt no difference in FFB.
It was in the mall, it's used hardcore - probably something's wrong with it but yeah, you guys misunderstood this thread - I'm not bashing G25, I'm admiring you guys who use it, it's hard.

I might be wrong but that what's written is my oppinion/experience with it and based on what I experienced I wouldn't buy a G25 or G27, I just wouldn't...

I respect your opinion, I just totally disagree with it. I have a G27 and I just love it.

Be happy with whatever wheel you choose, although I think it will be hard to satisfy your so demanding taste.

My GT3 RS with CSP is due to arrive tomorrow, I hope I'll be satisfied.

Thread fail right there, you didn't even play with a reasonably kept G25/27? Obviously it would have been abused by people playing on it and not giving a crap because it isn't their own. You just negated all your complaints with this post, I thought you bought a busted wheel but you didn't buy it you just tried a wheel connected to a kiosk at a mall.

G25 is an awesome wheel for it's price, only thing that isn't adjustable is pedal sensitivity, one day PD should get around to making GT5 scalable to work with any and all Logitech and whoever else makes good wheels.

If you're not, it's definitely you ;)

Congrats.

Thanks!

And let me rephrase my complaints on G25/G27:

- Deadzone (blame GT5 for that)
- Pedals (without a mod they're useless)

Wheel's alright, DFGT felt better but it's ok.

I thought on the box (GT5's) said "The Real Driving Simulator" - why can't I compare a wheel to real life then? I just said what I think...
...And it wasn't a kiosk, it was a rig with buttkicker and everything tyvm.
