BTW the radical holds the production car lap record at Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit!

German motoring magazines may dispute that with you, as Radical's model range do not have TUV approval in Germany they do not class them as a road-legal production car.

However, Radicals can be registered for the road (and are produced to meet) under the SVA regulations in the UK, this make them legal to drive on the road in Germany. For once the EU works in our favour.

Some German magazines do not even recognise the Radical's record, production or road car. To me the debate between road/production car is not that relevent, the Radical set a time of 7mins 19secs and hammered the lap record for a road car on road legal tyres. The 'production' part becomes a bit debateable when you realise that only 25 SR3T's were built.

However the following is a comment by Phil Bennett (driver of the record setting SR3T
"Just to clear up some questions - the "Production" car lap record thing is for cars being capable of registered for the road and being commercially available to the public. The car then must run with normal pump fuel and on road legal "E" marked tyres. "

However that trime has since been bettered by the Donkervoort D8 270RS with a time of 7mins 18secs.

http://autotelegraaf.nl/vanonzeredactie/?id=29876 (in Dutch - but lets be fair its not that hard to understand what is being said).

The first link will throw a lot more light onto the entire Nurburgring lap records thing, particularly when you work out who p490kup is.

Yeah that's why I put production in bold. In my mind these cars are really stretching the word. :boggled: I love pistonheads haven't been there for a while. Thanks for the awesome links. Haven't read it fully yet just first page. 👍

Oh and screw this Time Trial ****. They need to have these two cars race. That would be an awesome battle!!!! Not just one lap either. Damn it, now I want to see this on DVD and it will probably never happen. :guilty: :grumpy: :ouch:

Ha ha p490kup yeh on the same day as my ride in the Radical had a a few laps with Phil driving in a Vauxhall Monaro VXR :) Man that guy can drift a car.

Short time later the car threw the towel in. :D

If you have a copy of Prologue (PAL) take a look at the 'making of a driver' feature on the ectras DVD. The driver of the track cars is none other than Phil Bennett, and a couple of the guys from Autocar helped script it.

, someone once made a sofa with wheels and engine all totally legal. If I had that money for a track day car tho I personaly would buy a old F3 or even F1 car. But you couldnt drive to the shops in one of those, I'm just imagining the looks you would get in the radical :D

I saw that Sofa driving along once a few years back in central london.
That thing looked damn funny.
It had a lamp and a tv on it as well
