0100BTW the radical holds the production car lap record at Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit!
German motoring magazines may dispute that with you, as Radical's model range do not have TUV approval in Germany they do not class them as a road-legal production car.
However, Radicals can be registered for the road (and are produced to meet) under the SVA regulations in the UK, this make them legal to drive on the road in Germany. For once the EU works in our favour.
Some German magazines do not even recognise the Radical's record, production or road car. To me the debate between road/production car is not that relevent, the Radical set a time of 7mins 19secs and hammered the lap record for a road car on road legal tyres. The 'production' part becomes a bit debateable when you realise that only 25 SR3T's were built.
However the following is a comment by Phil Bennett (driver of the record setting SR3T
"Just to clear up some questions - the "Production" car lap record thing is for cars being capable of registered for the road and being commercially available to the public. The car then must run with normal pump fuel and on road legal "E" marked tyres. "
However that trime has since been bettered by the Donkervoort D8 270RS with a time of 7mins 18secs.

The first link will throw a lot more light onto the entire Nurburgring lap records thing, particularly when you work out who p490kup is.
