Slight problem with that - I'm ten years older than Jordan. I'll be retiring first
Yes, us older folk do need our sleep....

Oh wait, you meant the other kind of retiring......

Here's a little fact about GTP. Most of the long term, active members here actually spend most of their time outside of the GT forums. Thus, if GT does indeed end one day, there is a high chance that most of us sticking around will still be posting in the other 80% of this forum. :)

Us retirees will take over and talk about the old days, and we'll complain about all those annoying 50-somethings from our rocking chairs. Can you imagine...A retirement thread? Help me pick out an electric wheelchair (under $10K)? A guide to the softest foods? Even more members from Florida?

The site's future really does depend on the continued success of the Gran Turismo franchise; fortunately, it has not shown much signs of letting up, and our forums have more to say than just the game to keep the community going strong. Well...it's hard to say what happens next, but the GT-series has been too successful for PD/Sony to imagine the disintegration of that partnership any time soon.

You forgot the most popular future thread: "What have you done to your hip today?"

I think Jordan have a better chance at replacing Kaz at Polyphony Digital rather than retiring as head admin on GTPlanet...

Once everyone has become bored of Gran Turismo and nobody is playing it, Jordan has promised to hand the reins over to me. This means I can do what I like with that site and that will probably mean turning it into a place where likeminded people who enjoy sudoku, sushi and macrame can spend quality time together :D

And then we girls get our 'hot guy' thread in the premo section?

Can't think of anything witty off the bat. I was going to say something along the lines of Egypt and the Internet, but didn't want to make anyone upset...

dude, it's the INTERNET, if people get upset about something you say, well,

well, I guess it will end when people stop paying for premium:grumpy:
Or when the whole financial dynamic changes, and membership costs would necessarily be prohibitive.

In the early days of printing presses it was easy to set up a small publishing house. But then publishers evolved. A few years down the road, the equivalent of gtplanet might be forced to have its existence only on some other particular dominant social network.

Someone mentioned sudoku. sudokusolver.co.uk has shut down their site. But it turns out the solver is self-contained GPL Javascript which runs just fine stand-alone (and can be found in working form from an archive). sudokusolver.net is saying they will make a downloadable PC version to replace their unavailable web page. But that was essentially what sudokusolver.co.uk already had, if you knew how. (Or should I say if they had known how to tell people how to off-load their servers). But I'm not sure of relationships between sudokusolver in various DNS domains. I.e. I'm not sure if sudokusolver.net was referring to the sudokusolver.co.uk site. My searches found an apparently broken solver fairly near the top. Which was not encouraging.
