GTPlanet is a pretty large site with thousands of members. For most people, this site is probably their original GT "home." However, others have migrated here from other sites for various reasons. Some of us come from established sites that went wrong, some are from ghost towns, and others are just complete nomads, wandering the GT community.

So are you from? And why did we come here?

________________________________________

To start off, I come from a site called GT3Times, which has changed its name to GTTimes in recent years. It is hard to believe I originally joined GTTimes when I was just an early teen, looking for info on GT3's cars. However, I immediately discovered the times database the site was known for, and I was hooked. I ended up being a 'Timer' for 7 years. The site attracted a fairly large membership, however, not nearly as large as the membership GTPlanet has today. Peculiarly, most of the site's members had the same weird sense of humour. This resulted in the most awesome user challenges ever created and some hilarious discussions. I cannot imagine how many noobs we scared off with our humour, telling people how to get rocket cars in GT3 through chantings and laying blue eggs. Undoubtedly some of those poor individuals are now here on GTPlanet, and want to kick my butt now that I said that, LMAO.

All seemed right with the Timers, we had some of the fastest drivers around, some of the most knowledgeable people around, and certainly the most hilarious. But then, the site started dying off. The GT4Times Database never came, there was an invasion of spiderbots and spammers, for a long time new members could not join due to bugs, and even if they could, they were scared off by the ramblings of the resident lunatic, jbschumacher, also known as "Lightning."

The site turned into a ghost town, with the only active thread being "What are the watching?", where Lord and Master bobkart posts images of movie cases. *shakes head*

So that is how I came here. It's a good place to post, but still doesn't quite match the glory days of my home board. I'm interested to hear others' stories as well. The GoldJunkies, the Racing-Liners, the GTXers and various others.

Hello there, GP. Long time no see :D

Still here...

I had a little activity at GTRP and the House of GT during the GT3 years, but not so much. What actually brought me to GTP was daan suggesting I might like to post up my "Worst Car Wins" series, that I had mainly running at GT3T, here. And so it came to pass :D

And we haven't been able to get rid of Famine since. Looks like we're stuck with him, boys and girls... :D

As for me, I was looking for info on GT4, found GTP and needed to be a member to download videos. Four years later, I'm still here annoying people.

I came here looking for information on Gran Turismo 4. I don't even use the site for that anymore, this site covers sooooo many topics I'm 100% of the time somewhere no where near the GT forums.

Got GT4 on release day, got stuck quickly, googled GT4, this place came up. Didn't really get active with posting until about beginning of 2007, then did UKGTP7 in May of 2007 and been regular since. Recent possession of a PS3 has made me spread my "Post Quick Reply" clicking across the board.

Never visited another GT based forum. [/loyalty]

Originally from 1UP, then moved to GameFAQs, and now I'm still at GFAQs + here.

I used to just come here occasionally for news, then joined the forums not too long ago (or at least it doesn't seem all that long ago) for the GT4 competitions.

[Timer mode]I think Famine may actually be Chris the midget. He goes around various GT sites and they then die a few years later. Residues of pie can be found. Be afraid, be very afraid. :scared:

BEWARE OF CHRIS! Eat Mushrooms.
[/Timer mode]

Yeah, I've been quite busy Famine. Film school keeps me occupied, and the best bit is that it makes everyone completely arrogant beyond Lightning levels. But don't worry, I am the best person in the world at not being arrogant. :D

I was an 11 year old kid at the time, (:scared:) i was looking for info on a race and found GTP... didn't think i'd be here 3 years later. :)

In the Summer of 2006 I was looking up Gran Turismo, and I found GTPlanet. I used it for getting tips on GT4, then I signed up in October of that year not realising that you need to do something else to be able to post in the forums. (I forget what it is) I then did whatever that was in March 2007 and here I am now!

Most of my threads have been closed and I've had one or two long breaks from GTPlanet, but I get by!

Joined GTPlanet on Jul 20th, 2001. GTPlanet was the first site I found while looking for tuning guides for GT3. I had no idea that there were others as enthusiastic about that game as I. I've been here ever since. GTPlanet was also the first community I joined and became a active member of.

I was watching some GT4 drifting, my mouth nearly watering, as I bought a copy of GT4 on vacation, without my PS2. I was reading the comments as I still do, and I was intrigued by an off-hand comment someone made about GTPlanet. I googled it over a year ago, and I'm stuck to this site like an irritating rash that ceases to desist. Although, I'd rather be known for being a good member, a foresight I over looked a while ago, and I am now stuck with 25 infraction points.

Meh, i got 10 infraction points over 2 years ago... :indiff:

I was a product of sheer boredom. Surfing the Internet one day, was looking at the GT series' Wikipedia entry. Saw this site under "related links", clicked, and decided I was going to join up. This was on July 18, 2007. (Looking at my post count, I need to post more and just look less.)

I came from the planet kypton.

Actually, I'm not sure I remember entirely. I think I may have seen a drift video for GT3, and then I searched for drifting and was lead to the GTP drift forum.

When I was around 9 years old, I used to look up info about the upcoming GT4, I was very interested about it since I was an avid GT2 player at the time. It was a shame we didn't have internet at that time, so I would always be browsing on my uncle's net. Almost every time I 'googled' something to do with the GT series, GTP would show up. I only decided to sign up much, much later since I thought I was way too young to be on a forum etc. I never thought I'd be here so long. GTP is pretty much my e-home now.

Eh, I came here from googling GT4 cheats because I sucked (and still do) at GT, and I got hooked, my usage of the site constantly expanding, especially after getting the PS3.

Still couldn't find them cheats though :grumpy:

From,
Chris.

For most people, this site is probably their original GT "home."

This applies to me, and only since Aug last year(2008 that is).
I was a GT fanatic since it's debut, but didn't communicate with any other folk ,who are on the same wave length, other than a couple of mates.
Also, GTP includes other games of interest, F1, which got me involved posting, now feel as though I'm part of the community.👍

I lurked here a bit back when GT3 was new. I remember reading a whole thread about UFOs in Grand Valley.

It took me till 2006 to actually join.

Got a PS2 for Christmas 2001, bought GT3, and found GTP about a month later while Googling for something.

I think I was looking around at GT4 stuff on Google and found this site. I came back a few more times, joined in September 2006 and posted every once and a while until 2007 when I became more active.

And this is still the only place I visit and post regulary.

Exactly the same applies to me :sly:👍

Came here looking for GT3 setups and spent a month in the GT3 section only not knowing about the rest of the site haha.

I browsed around the internet for GT3 info. I stumbled upon this site, but for the following months I was always in search for this site, because this place was oh so awesome, and I loved the write-ups. So a few months later I joined, cannot remember the year, and joined the GTP WRS series. Got hit by the "baanhammer" a couple of times untill I was active mainly in the Photomode series. Now I'm still active in the Photomode section ([/loyalty]) and I sometimes also try to explain a few of my weird opinions in the Opinions forum.

I came here to stalk my son.

 Funny because it's true.

I Googled "GT2 prize cars" back in 2002, before I got a PS2, and this site came up. What prompted me to stay I don't know - this was the first forum I joined. Mighty glad I did though.

Found this place looking for gs codes for GT3 way back in 2002. Don't post as much as I used to, but then again there isn't a HMRCWG anymore, and I'm busy running about 4 different CS source servers and doing a lot of Source mapping so most of my unemployed time is spent doing that and some php coding for my clans website.

I came here to stalk my son.
  I think its just because you are a caring mother! ;):sly:

Feb 10 2005... I don't remember why I joined this site but I think it was trying to keep updated on the release of GT4... Started with WRS, but there is so much other things in this world on this site that it makes it so brilliant. Can't wait to see what GT5 has to bring us... but that will be down the road! :D ---- Randy

I found this Forum when I was looking for information about
the GT games with Google in '04 and 2 years later I became a
member, and now a little more than 2 and a half years later
I'm still a member off this great Forum.

I first visited GTPlanet in early 2003. I was Googling some information on GT3 and I found out that the NTSC version of GT3 had different F1 cars, I remember doing a Google image search for the F094/S and the only images I could find happened to be posted here. Months after that I became interested in the NTSC F1 cars again and I went on a long, long search for GTPlanet so I could see them. And I lived happily ever after.
