Hi,
Having done all these licence tests several times , I wanted them to be alot more challenging.
I started thinking , what controllers could be used to complete all them golden.
I have done them with DFGT , so a sixaxis should be a bit more difficult.. nah I want something harder.
So , I took the "drum set controller" and the USB receiver from Band Hero bundle:
These :
Looks pretty simple , D-pad , select , PS-button , start and X , O , triangle and square.
It is , if you manage to ingnore/overcome the throttle autofire , that cannot be turned off.
Yea , 100% throttle all the time. Makes conrnering somewhat impossible.
There were no L/R 1s and 2s , so this had to be done with automatick gears
Only changes to button configuration I did were Ghost on/off : D-pad up
and Look back D-pad down.
All the rest were original settings (I also set steering at D-pad if that's not the default setting)
I completed the B and A licences pretty easy and then got up to IC-2 BMW M5 at Trial Mountain.
This specific licence took easily 3 hours of practice before I golded it by a 0.010 second margin.
Phewh , now having passed one very difficult test I was facing another even more difficult one. The IC-3 Nissan Fairlady Z - Indy Road Course , The Double Hairpin.
This test took atleast twice as long as the previous licence test.
I got close to the gold time a few times with two precice handbarake turns , firts around turn one and when approaching turn two.
This far I had been doing the tests with ABS at 1 and nothing else. (ABS 0 at acceleration-stopping tests)
SO , I set the TCS to 1 and in a few minutes later I golded the test with about 0.100 second margin.
The rally tests were pretty tough , not being able to change the torgue distribution to 50/50 for more traction.
Same for brake balance changes. At the beginning , I desided not to change anything that coudn't be changed with the controller in use.
The slalom tests took some , not significant time to complete each.
As they are meant to be driven with full throttle from the beginning. (exept at the launch)
The new rules about the AI touches on the overtaking , 1 lap and 2 lap tests made passing the AI more careless and easyer.
But I didn't want abuse this too mutch and I paid attention to overtake the AI as clean as possible.
IB-8 Ferrari F40 - Carousell , this test was just insane with full throttle and automatick gears.
A complete nightmare combo. At some point I thought that this challeneg would be end here and that this test would be impossible to do with what I used.
Knowing all tre tricks GT has had to offer along the years I was able to gold the test wallriding the Carousell outer fence.
Now I thought that , wasn't that a bit too easy

And I remembered I had not tried with TCS yet.
So , back to adjust the attittude and setting TCS to 1.
The times kept dropping till a point , when I was just 0.200 second away from gold time.
I thought back to IC-3 and the handbraking I used there. Would it work with this one?
The oval part had to be approached from high and then with a precice handbrake turn the car needed to be positioned on the inside of the oval.
After that the handbrake hadto be pulled again to rotate the car and at the same time decelerate the car to make it thru the Carousell oval.
Using normal brakes here would have made the car understeer , because of the acceleration autofire.
After several attempt to pull off this "kamikaze manouver" it happened and I got gold with over 0.200 second margin.
Once again TCS was needed with a high power car , IA-2 Lexus IS F - Circuit de la Sarthe.
Nothing more to it than just TCS and it was done.
Then the last car that gave some gray hairs was at S-4 Ferrari P4 330 - Tokyo R246.
Not blessed with phenomal grip under full acceleration.
Also countersteering this thing wasn't the easiest thing to do and to predict how it would react to inputs was a pain at itself.
So again TCS set to 1 and there was some sence in this test.
It was still a handfull , but after a few dozen tries I managed to gold it.
The S-8 licence was alot easyer thatn I had thought , the forced ASM on was a big aid with this test.
After 4 days of licence tests , of witch 3 days were spent trying to gold IC-3 without TCS ..
the licences are done:
The next day I took the GH guitar controller (and it's USB receiver) from the Band Hero bundle.
The button setup didn't need any changes.
Green fret button for acceleration , red for handbrake and yellow for brakes. Orange for rear view.
The steering was the tricky part , done with the stick alike D-pad (stick-pad?) on the
right side of the guitar controller.
So , now the steering was flipped around and fret buttons were not accel-brake-h-brake , but Accel-h-brake , brake.
It took awhile to remember the order of those fret buttons. Resulting handbraking when not supposed to and sometimes not braking at all being all confused.
I worked my way thru the licences one by one.
It took total 12 hours and 11 minutes to gold them all in a row. (minus 2 hours break for dinner and coffee)
I have all 60 replays saved for boght controllers and their game saves aswell. In a pack of 60MB each
What was the point doing the licence tests with these controllers?
The point is to prove that the licence tests are completeable (gold grade) with any controller that has steering acceleration and braking (handbraking) possible.
