This sunday aug 14th the nascar series will be at Watklins Glen, a road course. I cant understand why PD didnt include this track when they added nascar. Watkins Glen is a challenging road course and could have been used for more than just nascar and I would have loved to get an F1 or GT road car out there with the PS3 graphics. Anyway, watch the race it may give you a new respect for nascar. Sunday 1pm on espn.

Infineon's Stock Car Course was in GT4 as well. That really shouldn't have been removed, it would give a proper excuse for NASCAR's to drive on an infield in the A-Spec series...apart from the other 3 race tracks in America of course. :dopey:

Do they use the full roadcourse for NASCAR races, or do they do a simpler layout like they do for Infineon?

They are fun to watch, especially with the road course ringers they bring in to drive the cars like Boris Said (I still don't know how all that hair fits inside a racing helmet).

👍

Watkins Glen would have been a great track for this game! And hopefully we can buy something down the road with some DLC!

In fairness, the OP is wondering why Watkin's Glen isn't in GT5.....the dedicated forum you reference doesn't mention GT5....and I'd imagine if they asked the question over there, then they would be directed to this part of the forum.

NASCAR doesn't use the "Boot" section if you watch the race you will more than likely see the Tony Stewart and Hamilton car swap test NASCAR/F1 but it did rain and the track was damp.

He is advertising the race itself more than how he wants the track, seeing as he told everyone where to watch it. And even if he was asking for the track, he should have talked about the subject in the DLC in GT5? thread, where most track/car requests go. 👍

Sure NASCAR isn't just driving turning left, but it is almost all turning to the left, and it's pretty good at it, unlike the road courses, which are basically like watching an elephant on ice skates. Yes, they can make it round the track, but by god they look clumsy doing it.

And as much as I hate that prick Ambrose, the fact that he could jump into a NASCAR and immediately start pressing the top guys at 'road courses' kinda shows that the cars and the usual drivers are less at home with turning right than a new guy is at home in a new car.

Don't mean to offend or get up anyone with this, just pointing it out.

Jumping from a V8 Supercar into a NASCAR on a road coarse would be fairly easy I assume. As long as you can get the shifting down in the Cup car, they have a lot of similarities.

Why is this posted here? We have a dedicated

2011 NASCAR Thread

for posts like this. Post there.

👍
Why do you care?

There ought to be a separate thread for people whinging about other people posting in the 'wrong' thread. If that's all you have to say, why bother at all?

This post would no doubt be in it.

Except for the fact that I'm now going to actually post on topic.

As much as I hated Nascar to begin with, the time trial at suzuka was fun and the cars aren't as trucklike as I remember, especially with a wheel. So no, maybe there is more to Nascar - it's just a shame there weren't more recognised 'Nascar' tracks in the game (along with a lot of others sadly missing, which I won't go into, lest I prompt another forum nazi into telling me where I should stick it...)

Because there's no need to put a thread in the wrong section, seeing as we have so many different forums for different topics of discussion. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade.

A few weeks ago someone posted that they should have put a nascar seasonal up to match the brickyard 400 since we have the indy track in-game. Keeping along those lines I thought I would post here because of
A)that connection
B)the race is this weekend and this is the seasonal (changing weekly)
C)So many people complained that nascar wasnt real racing and its nothing
but turning left so by posting here I would get viewed by those same
people and relay information so if they wanted to see the other side of
nascar, they could this sunday.
D) I was wondering why such tracks as Watkins Glen wasnt included in
GT5 because it was in earlier GT games. Also, it would make for some
great DL content and future seasonals for all types of cars.

Is that enough reasons for you or would you like something else to complain about? How about this, quit being a forum naz..wait cant say that or u get in trouble. Ok, who appointed you to the forum police? why so worried about where someone posts something? Its a relevant topic, if you dont like it then dont read it.

It is a relevant topic. I'm just directing you to the correct place for that topic to be discussed :). Have a nice day, my friend.

Concerning the thread title:
The skill in NASCAR is simply to be a superiorly clean and inteligent driver. It also demands the cooperation of the entire field to stay clean.

This is impossible in GT5, since all they advertise in the NASCAR section is Crashes, and Jimmie Johnston Leading:dunce:

ALso, outside of GTP, there are extremely few clean and intelligent drivers willing to cooperate with a field to make a clean crace.

From all the remote b-spec races, I like nascar the most. Seeing the differences between low and high level bobs, very obvious driving nascar on road course like Grand Valley speedway :)

ps i believe this post doesn't help much, but quoting Homer S. (he likes to stay anonymous)... i couldn't resist.

Unfortunately, they are not close enough. Cup cars are not quite nimble enough.

I watched the Tony Stewart and Lewis Hamilton car swap at Watkins Glen, very intresting seeing how different drivers take to different cars. The Glen looks a great track.

However, Nascar when driving around an oval is the most boring motorsport I have ever witnessed!

*I have to edit myself, you did say motorsport and in my speedreading I thought you just said sport, my apologies. That said, Nascar is a spectator sport and much better in person unlike formula racing. I have been to the grand prix of tampa and the rolex 24 at daytona and while daytona wasnt so bad because you could see almost the whole track, the tampa grand prix was so boring because when the cars are bunched up and they go by and then you have to wait minutes for them to come by again. When they spread out its worse because you have 1 or 2 cars coming by every 30 seconds or so and theres no action unless you are lucky enough to see 1 car pass another. You get spoiled seeing races on TV because the camera's are always on the action. I guess you cannot fully appreciate something unless you have done it and I was fortunate enough to have raced dirt track stock cars after high school so maybe im a little biased.

Good idea about the Glen. It's a great track and the Cup cars are fun to watch on the road courses.

Casual observers have no idea how much effort is put into setting up relatively heavy cars with high horsepower and narrow(ish) tires for road course racing.

i'm a racing fan...cars, bikes, even trucks. I've been to Silverstone, Nurburgring, Indy, Barber, and attend Talladega each year. I would love to go to Bathurst one day and watch the V8s run.

So, I appreciate the skills needed to drive all kinds of vehicles. F1 is one of my favorites, and so is NASCAR.

driving in circles to the right?

Nascar has to be the lamest form of racing after drag racing. utter mindless bore.

No.

1) I don't care for your blatant "stop belittling my favorite motorsport" thread. You're not the first person to whine about people scoffing at NASCAR, and you won't be the last.

2) We're all fully aware of the Sprint Cup's two token road races. You haven't astonished anybody.

3) I should note that NASCAR runs on the more simple version of the circuit rather than the full circuit. Just saying....

4) Watching them run around a couple road courses doesn't change anybody's opinions of NASCAR, and running a couple token road circuits doesn't change the fact that the vast majority of their races really is just turning left all the time (no right turns).

I cant understand why PD didnt include this track when they added nascar. Watkins Glen is a challenging road course and could have been used for more than just nascar and I would have loved to get an F1 or GT road car out there with the PS3 graphics.

It isn't in the game for the same reason that 7,896 other real-world tracks aren't in the game - they can't realistically put all tracks in the game. It would take way too much time and resources, and take up a whole stack of Blu-ray discs just for the tracks.

EDIT:
And why is this in GT5 Seasonals?
