OK for those after a clan to join in SOCOM I've setup Kellys Heores, with the clan tag GTP, it's a SAS based clan so gives you the SAS boddy armour and the SA80 assault rifle plus the british camo schemes and the clan badge. Clan match system isn't up and running yet but theres plenty of party system matches happening. so far the members are

Hereward
Scaff
Pepsicoke
GT Niehder
Energiya
Magburner
beofrancis

please shout up if you wan't an invite, you really need coms for this game guys also if you haven't played the game before it's extreemly tactical rather than a run and gun FPS.

Cool, will do, sniper eh......came accross a very good tactictical use for sniper teams in a a game last night, At the start of the match the sniper(s) get in position and basicly take out the enemy sniper......once he's gone the team can move out and the sniper can then concerntrate on giving cover to the team. works realy well, takes about a minuet at the start (sometimes less) but it dose mean the team suffers less kills!
Oh and best to practice your "Trade" in a room with respawns, gives you the full match to learn the map and try some of the weapons. Allways try for the headshot and where possible allways shoot prone! also don't bother with the laser, it'll distract you and show your position to the enemy, I'd also recomend trying light armour or even none for your legs and heavy on your torso, plus some smoke as it's usual for snipers to get pinned. Oh and your pistol is your friend! Un aimed shots with the sniper rifle close up rarely find there mark! claymores can be good also for covering your back if your on your todd without backup to protect you. Finaly learning the maps and the sniper points will take a long time, give it a night to learn the basic layour of just 1 map! Oh and all those sugestions for kit are just that, sugestions, what works best for you may be completly different but I hope they give you a starting point to ease the steep learning curve LOL

Looks like you are getting right into socom Hereward which is nice to see cuz i spent 2 year of my live on socom 2 and been waiting to play the game on the ps3 for age's and am just iching to get on and just set down on it for 5hrs.

OK, damn it! I brought one game this week, but I really want SOCOM. Off to Area  right now to get a copy! Put my name down pal! 👍

EDIT: Got it. £35 from Tesco with an official headset thrown in! I'll be on after 8pm tonight, but give me half hour or so to familiarise myself with the controls, then I'll be good to go.

I don't know if your are handing out roles, but I would be interested in some sort of forward recon position, if that's possible. I'm not that fussed about killing everything I see, I'm just as happy observing. I can work as a team, and I am quite happy taking orders from another guy, as long as I have the freedom to occasionally flag up alternatives or flaws in the strategies. 👍

Invite me, See you on later guys! 👍

OK I'll get the invites out, I'll be on from 6pm gmt onwards tomorow I'll post a message to all clan members as to the room and server I'll start with a 4v4 game and enlarge as and if needed, we'll run some matches against randoms then if were all happy we'll go have a few clan games, we need a minimum of 4 guys but if theres less we'll move onto some ranked games when everyones happy

Hereward,
I received a clan invite from you, and would like to join the clan. I'm in the U.S. so I don't really know how much I can play with you guys, but we can find out.

I already am in a clan with the name you sent the invite to, but they really don't play that much. If you would send it to the name bevofrancis, I will be more then happy to accept it. I will send you a friends invite with that name.

Sent it to the wrong ID I'll send it to your V2 one, theres one already gone to your GTP one if you want a quick look, I'll be sending the invites out later this afternoon guys.

I need friend requests from you guys from the PSN ID you want to use, I can only invite people from my friends list or from players met!
Right I'm on now! channle EU english 2 Room GTPlanet, just join in, I'll be there for a good few hours!

I am surprised that we don't have a clan for the previous games. Especially 2 or CA. Then again, it seems that the members are Euro Based. T-T

Need you on my friends list to invite you guys, theres no name entry system, send us a friends request, cheers, Oh and Pepsi coke BUY A HEADSET! LOL

Right, everyone is being made officers in the clan, that wat every member can send invites out LOL
Cheers to pepsi and niehder for showing up, roped ui UKOG Eric and we had some small elimination games, few randoms turned up as well, Got a nice kill with the AK47's grenade launcher during an ambush and the sweetest 80 meter running headshot, prone with the SA80 on single shot, lead him by about a foot, one shot and back fliped him as he tried to run onto the bridge, It's little moments like that which make this game.

Sure is! This game is definitely one hit kills too. I managed to drop a guy at 170meters with two shots from my AK-47, using the 3x/8x scope! Awesome game! 👍

Just watch that lion!

EDIT: Great games tonight guys! 👍

teah the games tonight were a lesson in comunication, we ended up with Scaff on the oposite team and as the lobby filled I noticed lots of high ranked guys joining, I take it they were americans from what I could her on the coms, well with a team of mainly consisting of newbies there was no doubt who had the upper hand...us! fire groups down the center in defence, flanking groups spotters snipers, ambush teams, prety much had the lot! We used the tactic of letting the enemy throw themselves at us qhilst the flanking groups split there teams up with impromptude ambushes. The first set of games were very evenly matched but as our team started to talk more and work as a team it was all over for the enemy.
So many "classic" moments in the game for everyone, it's more rewarding when you have a plan be it just sitting off in a doorway as an ambush group or a full on flanking manouver and it all goes to plan than just running round a corner, seeing an enemy and being quickest to the draw. There was even one point where I was in a team of 3 snipers having a compertition to see who could head shot the numpty who just kept going upto the lion on crossroads....cant remember the adsact distance but well over 200 meters.

Yep the team that beofrancis and I were on ended up as a complete pain, we were the only ones who would both talking about the game.

One kid just kept asking 'What time is it where you are', which is fine the first time, but a complete pain the 20th.

Had to kick one player as well, who came out of the spawn point and opened up on cars and vans blowing them up and taking out two of my team before we even started, contemplated shooting him myself, but a quick kick vote got rid of him.

I actually enjoyed the early rounds when I was on my own against two or three of you the most, cat and mouse stuff to the extreme; but the later rounds my team-mates (and I use that term very loosely) just ran around getting shot.

I do however have to admit to a murder/suicide in an early match using a grenade launcher from about two meters on Magburner.

You are absolutely correct pal! The games I played with you guys last night were superb! At first you and I were the only ones communicating, but once everyone else on the team got into the flow of things, the game became a doddle. Good communication and team work can literally improve you gaming skill (and enjoyment), by tenfold. We proved that, by completely dominating the opposing team!

The only problem I noticed was that for me personally, I had trouble explaining where the enemies were sometimes. This is mostly down to my unfamiliarity with the maps, but I also think that we should come up with some standardised way of explaining where the enemies are positioned.

Yeah, scared the hell out of me! I was sneaking round the corner, because I knew you were around that area, I didn't realise though that you were literally on the opposing apex of that corner. I was just about to do the lean out thing, and BOOM! 40 on the nose! Classic stuff! 👍

The last I saw of you was over the other side of the street behind a low wall and I planed to pop a grenade over the wall from the corner apex.

Got it ready leaned around the corner and we were nose to nose.............................so I just pulled the trigger............................and we both ended up dead.

Scared the hell out of me as well, mainly because I forgot I had the grenade launcher armed, opps.

Hereward - I sent you a friend request for ENERGIYA--V2, so you can send the invite. i like the fack that we will all be officers. That good cause i made a few friends in the last 2 days playing SOCOM

Ahh it's 2 dashes before the V2! you have 1 dash on your info on the left panel thus my friends requests to you were rejected!
Right I'm partialy responsable for the team getting split up last time, the best of 20 matches is far to long! In future I'll have the games set to best of 3 games (3games as mercs 3 as comandos) and then the map will change, the 10 kills for a win seemed good with 8 min round times. I'll pick the 3 most popular maps (large ones) with cross roads being played twice once day and once night. also respawns will be set to 2, effectively giving you 3 lives! also I'll finish off with crossroads 10 minuets 1 respawn each on breach game mode.I'll run these games throughout the weekend and the room will be GTplanet 8v8 this way if clan members get split up between the teams we can quickly get everyone back on the right teams as quickly as possible.
Should take 2-3 games to get the team to gel then it's a case of learning some of the maps.

Sounds good to me and Mrs Scaff is out tonight so I will be able to take part as soon as I have the kids off to bed.

Will do, had a few matches with niehder earlier on, I'll be on later. Didn't make it last night the beer fetival destroyed my hand eye co-ordination......evil beer!

Glad you like the game dutch, it's like KZ2 was when we all first hit it before the auto aim and run and gun but even more tactical!

Theres patch 1.42 due very very soon which should sort out some of the remaining bugs and hopefully the game dropout one should be addresed as this is by far the biggest bug left, also update 1.50 is very nerly ready to go which is rumoured to have the clan match system in it but as yet details are a guarded secret with slant 6 simply saying its BIG! Oh and DLC in the form of new maps....again roumours but it's guesed around april will be release date, with so many classic maps from previous SOCOM games available for them to release it shouldn't be too hard to get some more classic maps out, the previous SOCOM for example had 22 maps compared to the new games 7.....saying this I've only learned the basics of 2 of them in as many weeks LOL
