The Second Annual Weekly Race Series Yard Sale.

Do any of you remember the original sale?

Last Year's Sale

Sadly I am not capable of managing the Weekly Race Series any longer.

BoomBexus said it so well I must quote him (since I can not say it any better).

boombexus
My lifestyle has gone through some changes and finding time to run the Weekly has become difficult. As some of you have seen with my late postings of results these past few weeks. My appologies for that.

So, I would like to hand the reins over to someone else. Someone that has shown desire, dedication and a positive attitude and made honest contributions to GTPlanet and the Weekly Race Series.

As boom did, I will continue organizer the races until a replacement is found.

All suggestions and volunteers should hit this thread.

I have enjoyed this greatly and I thank all of you that made it that way.

Thank you for your understanding.

Long Live The Weekly Race Series!

:(

I wasn't expecting this Kent. Thank you for all you have done and for the best series I have ever participated in  👍. I just don't know how to thank you.

If you would consider me, I'd be happy to try and fill your shoes (however big they may be ;)). I have a lot of time on my hands, and the willingness to put forth the effort to keep an incredible series such as this. I have experiece with racing in many competitions and have replay support. When making your decision please consider picking someone who can be as acitive within the WRS as you have been.

Thanks for an incredible time and all your hard work .

What does "organizing the WRS" means ? What does it consist in ?
- posting a combo once a week (plus some previous tests to choose the combo)
- gathering the times sent by PM
- posting the results
- checking the replays

I don't think anybody (except Boombexus and Kent) has an idea of the time it requires.
We have some old chaps around who would be trusted by their fellow racers (Mr P, Famine, Iceman...), or perhaps we could split the different operations and have someone posting the race, someone checking the replays, someone else posting the results...
Working as a team would probably provide a greater security when the organizer stays off-line for a while.
Or perhaps the winner of the previous week could choose the car and/or the track for the following week ?

I can do the result parts if required, I already have a new "dynamic board" ready for the GT4 WRS (spent more time on this board than on racing this week-end ;) ).

That was my 0.02

Long live the WRS

Edit :
Since Iceman says he has a lot of free time, I'll support him. For the few events he organized I raced in, I know he'll take good care of the WRS.
I would say the same for Famine and Mr P.

i havnt been part of the wrs for long but i know this is a pretty big takeover job.

wll done to kent though, all his time and hard work keeping everything together and im sure whoever fills in for kent will be just as determined to keep everything going.

Kent,you did a great job. 👍

Iceman is a good choice,I know him some time now and I think he can do the job.
I have only one small down side and that is your age.
It is a big responsibility, organizing the wrs.

Famine,Sphinx,flat-out or Mr p have mine support too.

Thanks for your support sjaak. I do realize that to some my age might seem like a downfall :guilty:, but I feel that I am mature enough to handle this responsibility. Age doesn't mean much without the maturity to back it up. I also think it is an advantage that I have more time to run the WRS than others like Ron and Famine in the fact that I have more time to put into the WRS for everyones benefit. No offense to them in any way, but I'm sure they all have families and their jobs to attend to.

:guilty: You can't leave! I just started the WRS!

Oh well, I'll support Iceman.
He's helped me alot so far, so I give my support to him. 👍

Sorry to hear you are not going to be able to continue this anymore, Kent.

I haven't known you for a long time (and you probably don't even know me ;)) but I have been here long enough to realize that you did a really good job entertaining us with nice races 👍

As far as my nominations go, here they are, in no particular order (well, alphabetical, if you want to be picky):

Famine
flat-out
icemanshooter23
Mr P

I don't think I need to explain why I chose them - it's quite obvious :D

The Wizard.

Too bad Kent. You did a great job. 👍 I'm going to wait and see who steps up and wants the job. Depending on who the next steward is will determine if I submit my qualifying lap. Mr P is a good choice (ARC) but I'm not sure Ron wants to run a weekly series. Thats a lot of work.

I would like to nominate iceman. I've talked to him and he's definitely up for the job. With his experience and dedication to the WRS system, i'm sure he'll do great.

I had a feeling this was about to come :( Kent, you've done us proud mate 👍 👍 Always the gentleman in the face of differing opinions and your ability to create combos that suit a wide range of drivers was outstanding and I therefore salute you. 👍 👍 👍

I won't be putting my name down because I don't think i'll enjoy it to be honest, sure it would be fun at first, but as with many things the novelty would wear thin after a while, and I wouldn't want that to happen. 👎

I would love to see Ron or Famine run the WRS, but I see some have mentioned Iceman and have raised issues about his age. I don't really know the guy but have always seen him as some old git like myself and never once thought about his age, so perhaps he is mature enough to give this a shot. I'll back him if he gets the job, I have no worries about that. 👍 👍

Man my first race with you as the organizer and you leave. :nervous:

I will of course volunteer my services.

I'll be happy to do it as well if asked, I would enjoy taking care of the WRS.:)

Thanks Kent for all the time you've spent running this madhouse.👍

P.S. - Another idea may be to have two guys, alternating weeks so it would be less work, and allow more free time for planning and driving. Just a thought.

Sorry to see you go Kent ... Thanks for some great combo's and tonnes of frustration

:D

I am not interested at all in running the WRS! I'll be happy to just take part in the ones that take my fancy 👍
If it went to a vote! .. I'd vote for Famine or CFM, mostly for time served ( they have been here forever! :D ) and also a position like this probably has a mod role involved and they seem the ideal candidates to me :) 👍 .... no offence to any other candidates

Good luck 👍

Sorry to hear that you are departing from the WRS management Kent. Thanks for doing a great job for the times that I have raced. 👍

As for the new person taking over I think Iceman, Famine or CFM would do a great job. My vote ultimately goes to Iceman though since he has helped me out with tips for courses and tracks before. 👍

All great canidates! :nervous: I can't choose. I support all!

Famine as a mod. Now that'd be interesting :D

Newbies have been warned: Famine has a really heavy hammer :scared:

;)

It's sad to see you go, Kent.

I'd love to take over the WRS management, but at the moment my life is also too hectic (to participate even). I'm going to trust that the next person will continue the running of the gauntlet in a way that compliments the great style of the GTPlanet Forums and that will build up our skill to a level unrivalled anywhere on the internet.

Edit: I don't know who to vote for, I'm just trusting peoples' judgement. The majority leader gets my vote here.

Well, sorry to see ya step down Kent, even though I am new to WRS. I do know that somethign like this takes alot of time. I will of coruse support anyone that steps up and takes the wheel.

Ditto that 👍

Famine and CFM get my vote!.

These two have been racing longer than I can remeber and everybody in WRS knows and trust them.

Sorry to see you go Kent :(, You have done a very nice job in the WRS and for that i am very grateful

I have to agree, Famine and CFM would be worthy choices. The guy that posts results the fastest gets my vote. ;)

I do like the ideas of possibly spreading some duties out. Yes an overall WRS Leader, but maybe one person that would be the WRS Offical Replay Offical to take care of any replays that are needing verified and reports to the Leader of yea / nay.

And the idea of Winner choosing the race. Maybe have it where they get 1 week to do that. I.E. Week #1 winner would have Week #3, Week #2 has Week #4, gives them a Week to find a good combo and sumbmitted to the WRS Leader for posting. Then to maybe expnad that, rotate divison winners to choose, Week 1 = D1 Podium, Week 2 = D2 Podium, Week 3 = D3 Podium, rinse and repeat.

Just suggestions form a new WRS.

I don't think the idea about having the winner of D1, D2 or D3 would work because the same 5 racers or so would end up choosing the races. Another problem that presents itself in this situation is racers making up times just to get to choose the next race. Also, you would end up having someone choose 100 laps of Nurburgring or some obscure race that no one would want to race. I think the system in place now works very well, but a possible implementation could be a poll between pre-selected races.

"If it ain't broke, why fix it." This is one of the longest running series in GT. Leave it as it is. The suggestion box is a good idea to see what drivers may like to try. I can't believe how many people have submitted qualifying laps so far  I only hope they were all 100% clean and saved.
