I use gated shifter in any car that allows it, why? Well because if i had it in real life, I would opt for the stick. I like to remain busy while driving, it's an experience not a chore. Soo many automatic cars around these days, it's absurd no reason to shift, the car does it for you. What's with sport shifting? Might as well have the car on autopilot, I am Robot style.
Now if Kaz would allow power shifting again, add trans damage I would be overjoyed. When you downshift imporperly, you upset your car terribly. Misshifts just toss you into neutral. Well IRL, if you downshift improperly you can upset the car, cause the drive wheels to lock temporarily and pretty much send your engine temp skyrocketing, cooking a lot of things under the hood. Overdo it and you will blow the engine, end of race. Lets hope they add that to GT5, at least in a hardcore mode. For the GT Enthusiast in us all.
Now they should update the G25, FF for all the pedals and shifter, for when you mis-shift that stick should shudder, the clutch should have algorithms that allow game designers to choose point of clutch bite(that would be sweet). Have H gate templates, 5 and 6 gear configs and make the steering unit heavier and allow the pedals to be detached from their base, even better for play seats owners. Oh and the clutch should have a lot more travel too. I digress...I'd pay $500 for something like that...
