Something that might challenge gt4

What do you all think, could this give gt4 a run in the realistic graphics dept?
I think it looks like a joke compared to gt4.

Graphics, gameplay, cars... it will set the bar to which every other racer for years will be compared to.

It's not a competitior to GT4, it's a competitor to Colin McRae 4. It looks like it has a much much higher polygon count, the graphcs look sharper than GT4's but like most games it doesn't seem as right as GT's, I guess it's down to all the work PD put into getting each car right.

Indeed the graphics are sharp but imo it's a sad attemp to compare that to reality, right now gt4 is the only game that can be compare to reality in terms of looks but I read up on the game, the gameplay will be very realistic.

I agree with the reality part, but GT isn't the only game thats got it right, granted they are rare but theres a couple of others out there.

Really?? I haven't seen any games that look near photorealistic like gt4, could you name a few. I know the new resident evil on the GC looks realistic.

I think that GT3 is still the standard, and it's 2 years old. GT4 will be the best thing since sliced bread.

The ones I've seen are for the PC, and since I'm not as interested in PC racing games I can't remember the names. I will find out and post them here, Grand prix ledgends is a more realistic game but it's a good few years old now and graphics wise it shows, but the great graphics can be seen in a few games, PGR2 has beter graphics tha GT4 weather you like it or not, I don't think it will be as good a game though.

Let me ask you, when you say pgr2 has better graphics, what do you mean by that? Gt4 looks way more realistic and that's why I say it has better graphics but what's your reason?

It cool to think pgr2 has better graphics but I'll just like to know in you opinion, why pgr2 has better graphics, I have seen pgr2 and it looks sad to me. The car models are horrible and enviroments don't look as realistic as gt4's enviroments.

The scenery looks very nice, but still needs work. If they get the colour depth right it will look better than GT4's 'outdoor' enviroments. Grand Canyon is practically a track in mid air with a nice 2D background... but done with care so they've actually pulled it off.

The cars do need a lot of work visually though.

If you've read the articles it sounds like its handling ought to be something special where things like air intake, fuel etc has all been taken into account with plenty of bumps in the road too along with realistic damage which affects performance like a real car. The handling should hopefully lay a brown load on Colin McRaes handling if the hype for it is anything to go by.

Yes it is. It appears to be three dimensional, but it only has two dimensions. Height and width.

That's not true. If you see the canyon while in game play you'll see it's 3D and uses ploys, that's no photo slap on for the back ground, I doubt PD would have a new rendeing engine for putting photos up, read game informer's first gt4 article and you'll see and if you are a member of gtadvabced you'll be able to see the magazine scan. You'll see the canyon was made out of skill.

Now look at the little sentence in the big picture of the canyon, it's on the bottom left, I seriously doubt they would brag on photos they took.

I'll try to find the game informer magazine scan and you'll see the guy who made the canyon what it is.

They never said it wasnt 3d! Are you some kind of moron? They are simply saying 'look and see, and look again' Guess what? That is not proof. Until you show proof, we will be satiated, but that wont happen, so the only thing youre going to get out of it is rude remarks and a post count. As for this rally game being a competitor to GT4.....GRAN TURISMO...4...not GRAND RALLY 4.....see point? Good. GT4 = not a rally game...end of story. Rallying is just something cool that they added on to be different. Its awesome, and I love it to death, but at its core, its not what GT is about.

oh come on, get real, even a pc would strugle to handle back grounds like that at the kind of detail suggested by cobragt. At best it will be a photo stretched over a 3d surface curved in such a way to give depth. Making out that every single nook and cranny of that mountain is fully done in polygons...rubbish. I mean just look at at, you have to be stupid to think other wise!

PD has time and time said it before the canyon is NOT 3D it is in fact a photo, just like the sky or do you belive that PD modeled the clouds too they are all photo's and with the new graphics engine they could fuse the photos better and the colors and textures come out alot clearer and crispier and more realistic. again the background are and always will be photos. Do you really belive that PD will model the entire canyon? was all that time and space just for that hmmm I DONT THINK SO! they have alot better things to take up that room and alot better things to model up but all I can say is belive what you wanna belive and just sit back and wait for the game...
