Sorry if the topic is a bit morbid, but its something we all need to think about before its too late! What song (or music in general) would you think most fitting to be played at your funeral? It would have to be a highly personal song, the one that really says what you want to say as the last bit of "you" in the world...
My pick would have to be a Jimi Hendrix song, either Castles Made of Sand (beautiful words and music, about the constantly changing and unpredictable nature of life), or Voodoo Child (slight return) ("I'm a Voodoo Child! I'll see you in the next world... and don't be late!"), if I feel like going out with a bang. This song has some of the most powerful and emotionally raw (but beautiful) guitar playing ever put down to tape IMO... like a real cry of a soul, its almost in a different catagory for me, it transcends the fact that it was played with an electric guitar...
I'd be happy with either song I think, but would end up choosing Castles Made Of Sand, because its generally a more fitting kind of sound (not harsh or raucous) and wouldn't offend anyone (esp oldies - I think I'll die before I get that old myself), there's just a more reflective kind of mood to it you know, whilst still reflecting my love of guitar and my eccentricity, whilst not being cheesy or obvious like many songs people choose (Tears Of Heaven by Clappo being the prime example of an over-used song doing funeral duties).
This is sort of a serious thread, so try not to post things like "See You Later Alligator", despite the obvious humorous quality. Maybe a funny song IS more YOU than something innately moving or sad... but I think most people would want their last song to truly reflect them in a serious way. Plus a funny song could REALLY have the wrong effect, some people at the funeral could be quite upset about a song that may be constrewed to make a mockery of your life, even if you chose it... SO, what do you think is most appropriate for you and why?
