Sorry john, i couldnt resist :dopey:

So back on topic, would anyone like the fact that there are some races with double digit laps that arent endurance races to return?

Wasn't a fan of them, but you know enduro races are going to be back.

Double digit could be 10 laps at 1:30 a lap, thats 15mins, not a problem 👍

I can't really drive for more than an hour without my b*tt my thumb and my brain hurting, but we all know that 2hour 🤬 enduro races will be in there somewhere...

10-lappers is the absolute maximum for me. While racing in a championship, anything over that would quickly get monotone and boring. :yuck:

# of tolerable laps is directly proportional to the quality of the racing (read: AI that isn't teh suck). I would also enjoy more laps if there was a larger field then 6 cars.

A lot of people love the mclaren 10 lap test at 13 min. something, so bring on the double digit runs!

I just love the rythm that you get when doing 10+ laps racing :)
Endurance is overdone without proper AI :yuck:

Apart from the Enduro races I think they should kindof do it to a set distance and not set laps... Like F1 where they do X amount of miles which converts into Y laps for each different circuit...

i think the answer to this is relative... does anyone want 10 laps of the Test Course in the Vitz again? Absolutely not... 10 laps of Laguna Seca with competitive AI... absolutely. 10 laps of the Ring???? many (including myself) will be just taking cars out for a boot on that track for many laps.... ahhh a nice drive at 200mph in the german countryside

I wouldn't mind seeing some triple digit races this time around (provided we can save in pits at certain intervals, and that we have some decently competitive AI).

For single races yes. For circuits no. 6 races at 20 laps each is waaay too many laps when I just wanna go through the championship to unlock a car.

If the AI is going to be same as in GT3 I would say no.
No 10 lap races if the AI sucks.
Better AI and more laps more enjoyable 👍

i love endurances.....they rule....especially on lap 99 when u crash on the last corner and end up in 6th

hopefully you're being sarcastic, cause with the AI in GT3 you should be able to drive the last 10 laps of an enduro in reverse and still win by 5+ laps over the comp drivers :sly:

the longer the race the better it gets. i loved the enduros in gt3, there can´t be enough. i´d like to see one for every track ;) 👍

Long enduros in GT3 is teh suck.

ok cosmic, but real races last for more than 2-3 laps
bring 'em on!

It's just so boring driving around with the Clio race car and beat all the skylines 👎

Drive something slower then. A 2 hour race will last 2 hours no matter what - have some competition doing it, rather than "spot the scenery".

Endurance Races = teH r0X0rZ!

I agree... it's great sitting down for 2 hours and carving new lines out of the track in the enduro's...

Although the "Like the wind" one or whatever it was called was most boring!!

Although an easy way to win a pretty sweet car!!

sorry but i dont use formula ones in miata enduros ^^

I really don't get how people can enjoy 2 hours for one race, with the dimwitted AI. Even if you get an evenly pitched car with the AI, they just crash into you in a really annoying fashion & brake far too early.

So unless the AI is bareable in GT4, then I say 5 laps max for non enduros.

Id like too see it beenig more balanced, not meaning the races should be less then 10 laps but the ones that are supposed to be long will be mightly long aswell. But, some of the championchips got rather annoying so..
Why not like this in a ten lap championchip.
Race 1 - 9 MAX 10 laps.
Race 10 Max 30 laps (or a endurance?)

Well, id like to see it anyway.

10 laps should be the minimum (or 7 as the bare minimum).

Bring on the long races!

You'll never take me alive.

I think the concept of relativity (in GT4, not physics) is a good one - but make it time, not mileage based. 20 mins at Super Speedway? 40 laps say. 20 mins at the Nordschleife? 3 laps. Just forget the Test Course.

I'm an enduro fan, I don't care about the AI, I just look at it as I would Le Mans - they're competing in a different class (not trying to be elitest), but they're racing their own race and I just lap them and move on, avoiding incidents and racing as well as I can.

So NOW what's up? GTO graduated from the "John's Univesity of Forum Making?" You been drinking my Kool-Aid? And of course, Mr. "I Want to Ban Everything" (guess who) had his say.

Multi-lap races is the topc, right? So here goes from Gran Turismo veteran John, otherwise known as... well, John.

Gran Turismos 1 and 2 both had 5-lap races for more challenging events other than the GT World Championship in GT2. The reason why I respect GT3's Pro mode is because it's as close as you can get to running long-enough races. But sometimes, some races tend to be pretty long at times, especially if you're looking to hurry up, win the championship, and race some other series. I mean, I'd rather run Seattle Endurance and try to earn a Panoz Esperante GT1 than run the Tuscan Challenge race at Test Course. But if you ask me, the double-digit races should only be reserved for serious races (come on now. Do you really want to run a Beetle Cup race for 15 laps in Tokyo?), or for short race tracks for long races.

Well, there you have my views. If I come up with more, I'll post more. For the meanwhile, I'm watching "The World's Greatest Auto Show: Birmingham," and kind of freaking out about the TVR Sagaris. All the vents and the muffler placements... Until then, reply.

Time or Mileage... pretty much a similar concept... although I do think that I prefer time over mileage...

Either way... defs the way to go... How can 10 laps of Fuji compare to 10 laps of Tsukuba for instance?

Someone may correct me on this, but the only time I've seen Beetles and other such cars racing actual events has been in celebrity challenges and other such short events, so perhaps a stipulation should be no longer than 10 laps for championships where the car is dictated.

Longer races are fine - as long as the tire wear is implicated better - i dont want to do 15 laps of laguna and have to change tires 3 times - how realistic is that!?
