Spa -vs- The Nurburgring

Since the inception of GT5 there has been a large interest of people wanting Spa as a track. It's in the track wishlists, it's in various threads throughout this forum. People wanted Spa. Well it's finally here. Looking back, I see this thread, which (by you the forum) has voted The Nurburgring as their favorite GT5 track. ( LINK )

With all of the interest in this forum of people wanting Spa, can it become the new GT5 favorite track ? Can it top the Nurburgring ? Thoughts ?

To be honest, after I received Spa from DLC and running a few laps around it, I am kind of leaning on the idea that Spa may overtake The Ring as a new favorite, at least for me.

Just for kicks, I'll add a poll to see how Spa compares to the Nurburgring.

Spa is my favourite racing track, Nordschleife is an awesome hotlapping track and I do love it, but as a racing track Spa is better, if only for the fact that the size of the Nordschliefe combined by the limit of only 16 cars makes for an underwhelming experience.

I love both, but my heart lies with Spa.
 
Spa is a favourite of mine & has been for many years .

Although 'Ring is king , & I voted for this option in your poll . 👍
 
For racing I'll also take Spa any day (and I also love the Nürburgring GP track), but nothing beats Nordschleife for hotlapping.
 
GT has introduced me to both these, I voted for Spa. It's the best racetrack, but the Nurburgring is a better endurance track. Spa has better graphics, too.
 
Spa, the pacing is by far some of the best I've seen in a while. Not to mention that the track in itself is quite a technical but fast track.
 
Spa is easier to learn than the 'Ring. I love both though so I can't decide.

That is the nub of it. Spa is a superb racing track; great flowing corners and some very nice overtaking spots possible with clean manouvers.

The Ring is a great driving circuit for all the reasons we know. However it falls down as a racing track due to its width and lack of overtaking spots that permit a clean overtaking without risk of grassing it/ putting it in the hedge.
 
I love racing Spa but it does not compare to the epic 'ring for me.

It all gets down to personal preference though and I think it will be an extremely close poll to reflect the greatness of both tracks.

I recommend the 'ring at sunset, it's amazing :)
 
I love to do practice sessions, and I can say that Spa and Nordschleife are the two circuits I never get bored of even after 10-12 laps. They are on a par for me.
 
I think the "Ring" is more exciting. Because is is much difficult to remember the whole track.
It has lots more bum

You could compare Spa to the Nürburgring GP Track (where Spa would win nearly anytime).

If you compare Spa to the Nordschleife the Nordschleife wins. Its like compairing the moon to the rest of the universe :)
 
The great thing about Nurburgring is that there are several layouts to fit your mood. Not to mention the option for both weather and time for the 24 hr and Nordschleife.

But after driving at Spa, I would say it's pretty damn good. GT5 graphic engine which unlike SHIFT or even Forza 4, has an incredible depth of field. Being able to clearly (and sharply) see the top of Eau Rouge as you turn at La Source is the kinda stuff all racing sims should aspire to.
 
The Ring is good for one lap, then it wastes your energy and it's not so fun. But Spa, I can drive it endlessly! It's an amazing track, but PD needs to give it a day/night cycle so we can race it like the 24 hour!
 
I believe the people have never been there.
In Spa there is a "spa" and water bottlery.

The circuit is in Francorchamps!

Visiting them in real life, they are quite similar, bad weather, lots of hills and trees. Challenging to go fast around them.

Even as a Belgian, I like the length of the Nordschleife. If it was the GP version of the ring, they are close, Francorchamps would win there.

Suzuka, Monza are not bad either.
 
I hate The Ring with a passion. Every time I race for real on that track I screw up. It's a highly technical track and I am not a highly technical driver lol. SPA is easier to drive on and I know that track well from F1 2010 and 2011. For me, SPA will become king of the tracks in GT5.

It just takes practice & alot of patience at the 'Ring . The more you drive it , the better you get . 👍

As some other posters have said , Spa is great for close & fun racing . An amazing track yes , but the 'Ring silently calls me back every time .

It always wants you to push that little bit harder , & the barriers will claim you with the smallest of mistakes.

That's the real beauty of this track . 👍
 
I voted for the Ring, because it always keeps you thinking. Screw up once with an FGT and the difference is huge.

I've practiced with the FGT on both the Ring and at Spa. I found it easier to make up for lost time and distance at Spa. However at the Ring, it took me a couple of minutes to gain all of that lost ground...

The top of Eau Rouge?? Eau Rouge lies in a dip where the Eau Rouge stream (side stream of the Amblève) passes under the track.

Didn't you mean, the top of Raidillon? Raidillon is the right hand up-hill corner, eau rouge is the small left hander at the bottom of the hill.

Spa is definitely my favourite. I enjoy it a lot more on the game than the Ring because of the brighter environment, and the shorter lap times. For testing out setups I hate the Ring as I like to set lap times to see how my cars compare.
 
I enjoy both tracks, but for me, right now, between the two, my favorite is still the Nordschleife as I am much more familiar with it compared to Spa. This could possibly change in the future though.
