The Spartan-V is an ultra-light track car which originates from Australia.

This car is also dedicated to my Greek friends.

The Spartan-V project is one which has it's roots back in the early 1980s, when two brothers built their first motorcycle-engine powered buggy. Fast forward nearly 30 years and the Spartan-V is where you get to. A featherweight sports car with supercar humbling acceleration, a simple yet gorgeous body, and a drivetrain lifted from one of today's most advanced superbikes.

The Spartan-V is based around a tubular steel spaceframe chassis which is both light and strong. Into that the engine and transmission from a Ducati 1198S is slotted. That means 170 horsepower is on tap from a 1.2 litre engine, and all the power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed sequential transmission. Thanks to the Spartan-V's incredibly low weight of just 300kgs (660 lbs) the car can rocket to 62 mph (100km/h) in just 3 seconds. Top speed is 174 mph.

The Spartan-V track car features numerous other high-spec components; like a digital dash, Wilwood ventilated and scalloped brake discs, Wilwood 4-piston billet calipers, Tilton racing pedals with brake bias, Woodward Racing quick ratio steering rack, fully adjustable suspension, Drexler Motorsport limited slip differential, and FIA approved Sparco race seats with 5 or 6 point harnesses.

At the moment the Spartan-V is in the final stages of development. The shape of the bodywork has been finalised, and the company are just waiting to get the production moulds back so they can start work on the series production cars. They only plan on making 300 examples - in honor of the Greek warriors after which the car is named.

Strewth!! Liked. No lights? Definitely not road legal. Wonder why it needs a passenger seat as that would now be a moot point...
Ever try driving a car without lights at night? I tried it, once.....in GT5, of course.:D I'm not an idiot, ya know. Took a Ferrari F1 car to La Sarthe, set at midnight. One of the most memorable drive ever. I'm sure this Spartan will easily replicate that experience...

I think that out of all the track cars I've seen, the only one that looks anywhere near as nice as this is the BAC Mono, and this has speed to boot.
