It is said that the idea to built a Thema with a Ferrari engine started as a joke. Somewhat thrilled by the idea, the technitians started to built the Thema and took a slightly modified engine from a Ferrari 308 QV. The first model (in red), called the "Thema 8.32", derived from the number of cilinders and valves, was first shown at the 61st edition of the Turin Auto show in 1986.

Yes, I would have said Ferrari-sourced too.

There grow dusky, which meant the mysterious number combination behind the Thema signatures at bug, tail and the pages of the Italian sedan: the number of the cylinders and those of the valves calls 8.32. A V8-Ferrari-Motor thus. Completely from light alloy, with four overhead cam shafts, one mechanical/electronic fuel injection and four valves per cylinder. In its capacity 215 HP rot themselves together.

It originates from the former Ferrari 308 GTBi with the wonderful addition designation Quattrovalvole, however in favor of the torque in the rated output by 25 HP was reduced. In the flat central engine port car the V8 gebaerdete itself like a screaming monster, who drove an army of drakonkiller into the tightness. Completely differently it behaves in the Lancia Thema 8.32. A stroking unit for the accelerotor pedal, and the tachometer snaps upward like a grass hop in view of a shrub fire.

Its still not a Ferrari engine - the block and general lay-out was based on the Ferrari engine - but it was built by someone else and probably designed by them as well. Why do you think it was never badged as Ferrari?

G.T. is correct.

but since he doesn't want to post - i'll post another.

Which car did the Delorean share it's 'underpinings' with?

Easier question - which car DIDN'T it share bits with...

PSA-Volvo engine, Esprit rusty bits.

Cheers, Slicks - I forgot I'd even posted an answer...

(and I'll probably forget I even posted a question too)

What was the first car fitted with air conditioning from the factory?

I'm going to guess either an old Packard, Buick, Oldsmobile or Cadillac. Late 40's, early 50's vintage.

I'll wait for Famine's confirmation, and whether or not it needs clarification.
I've got a question in mind, though.

The first car with an actual refrigeration system was the 1939 Packard. It consisted of a large evaporator, called the 'cooling coil,' which took up the entire trunk space. The only control was a blower switch. Packard, in fact, ran its advertising as, "Forget the heat this summer in the only air-conditioned car in the world.

Actually, I lied, it's not a Packard at all - or Buick, Cadillac or Oldsmobile.

The production year was, allegedly, 1938.

After looking through Google all I can see is that it's a Packard, that's what I always knew it as.

1938 Auburn?

1938 Hudson?

1938 Duesenberg? (was duesenberg around in 1938?)

1938 Pierce -arrow?
