I've not played this online yet but the most fun I had on Forza Motorsport 2 & 3 were A class and lower. That meant road cars with varying performance from 500hp Ferrari's to 200bhp shopping carts. Much more fun was had there than in race classes with GT cars up to LMPs.

The crappy thing about Forza though, was each class had one or two cars that dominated and no one used anything else.

My opinion changed since playing with a wheel.
Before that it was just about winning.
Had the DFGT and played a lap around Nürburgring with a Viper and I was last (A-spec).
It didn't matter, it was just SO much fun.
Now I have the T500RS incoming and I think it will change my view on racing forever.

I only use it for the B-Spec races (Don't have any faith in my driver lol) and the endurance ones that have a specific number of laps to finish them quicker. Otherwise its a big no no to me. Makes everything else seem so slow and rubbish although doing the 2nd Top Gear Challenge fixes that pretty fast!

I only used to drive cars that went really fast like 240+MPH but then it started to get boring, going round the same tracks in the same cars, with no drama just cruising along at 220MPH started to get me bored with this game.
But now I enjoy slow cars and fast, speed isn't everything to me, it's handling. If you can't control your car, how are you supposed to drive it fast?
(exception is the Enzo scenario in which I have to wrestle the car into going round the corner but I manage it haha)

Personally I love any car under 650bhp, and just a few above, such as the Zonda F, Corvette ZR1, just to name a couple. I feel that the X1 has no soul, no passion. I'd rather drive my 200bhp Fiat 500 :D

Two fun cars. Lotus Elise 111R RM and Suzuki Cappucino RM. These on sport softs or racing Hards are two really fun low HP cars.

The Lotus is a beast full tilt.

I raced in Showroom Stock MX-5 in real life for two years and I found the racing more enjoyable than the Pro Cup car I run now...

X2010 was just a terrible idea, especially for a title like Gran Turismo. For me, it has tainted the image and prestige of this series. What's even more terrible is how many people support it - if it's in Gran Turismo it must can happen IRL, right?

Well let me tell you something about GT's physics - it does well mimicking the physics of realistic cars in realistic driving situations. The parimeters of GT5's physics are fragile - anything outside of just realistic cars driving realistically the physics engine absoultely falls apart.

That being said, there is nothing realistic about the X2010 and so every aspect about it is pure fantasy. We might as well have drawn machine guns on it because to me there is no difference - I don't care who designed it, or how it was designed,or even why it was designed... none of this matters because at the end of the day it is purely fantasy. Nothing about it is realistic because it doesn't exist.

It was a terrible idea and I hope it only makes an appearence in GT5 and doesn't continue tainting the series in future sequels. /rant

Anyway... Speed isn't overrated and slow cars aren't underrated. It's all a matter of personal preference. I for one like a bit of speed - BUT I'll always compromise for cars that aren't really about speed but more about being a well-rounded track car, or cars of historical significance in their respective companies or in the auto industry as a whole. I love nostalgia. I've got my fair share of 600-1,000hp cars, but I also have a very personal collection of cars that I'm passionate about. I will often times choose my 197hp Guilia or my 227hp 2000GT over my more racing focused cars. I'm in it for what the car offers. Speed is always a plus but I don't need it to have fun in this game.

DeathSarthe,

Agree with everything you posted.

That X1 even though I own 5 of them. I haven't driven any in months.

It was fun and novelty when it was "new" but it wore off quick.

My son on the other hand, he can't get enough of the X2010. I try to push him into other cars. As well to race and not play silly crap in the Top Gear rooms.

Each person has their own preferences I guess.

The X1 is an interesting concept and it's very cool to see what could've been without any regulations in racing.

And it is one car, one! With a very small part of the game focused on it. (3 time trials). GT has always been too boring and the fans with it. Everything doesn't always have to be super serious, live a little! It's not like you see it a lot online either.

But if you go to an unlimited room you'd be an idiot not to expect people to race the fastest they have. Why not let them? There are loads of people on this forum who wants to race Fiat 500's with super hard comfort tires around tsukuba for 50 laps (because it's "realistic"!! u noob!!), add them on PSN and race them. And let others play GT the way they want.

This is a completely senseless discussion in my opinion. Makes it sound like the X1 completely ruins the game.

IMO: Speed isn't everything and that's how I voted.

I enjoy all of the cars in the game and I'm one of those people who'd race shopping carts if we had them.

My favorite race cars are the Super GTs. They are so balanced and maneuverable, and I can pretty much always hit my apex spots.

But, I also find it fun to race the 400PP cars on Sports Hard tires too.

I prefer slower races where it is all about finding the fastest line through a corner so you don't lose to much speed because it takes ages to gain it back again.

The novelty of doing mach 6, quickly wears off.
For me, the genuine racing, especially a slower car is where it's at.

There is something about certain cars that make power. The feeling of trying to control a uncontrollable beast. When you get the rhythm to do so. It is pretty zen like. Not super grippy cars. I mean a stock body ZR1 on the ring. Using slight mods and sport softs. Man when you take that beast it feels so right! imagine real world. Sign me up.

Seems most of us are looking for good door to door racing. No matter what speed!

Which is really cool.

Ok, before someone starts the flame wars... this is just MY opinion. And i want to share it and know about yours either.

Everybody is just crazy about the X1 Prototype, a "car/rocket/comet" that doesn´t even exists ..so far. I´ve got one, from a friend... and i just have to ask: WHat is the point? I mean... the car handles absolutely spectacular, its fast as it can be... but, again i ask: What is the point?

Its a matter of personal taste, i agree, and generallyl it is... faster cars, crazy lap times, etc. I dont think people should give this car so much credit. Sure it is cool to drive on the first 10 minutes, but after that.. it gets normal, and you will find that your superb highpowered enzo or minolta or whatever car you used to love..isnt a beast anymore. And you will be ignoring the other great, low-end cars, that could give you tooons of fun ( remember lupo challenge at nurb? )..

I rarely see people talking about 100hp~300hp cars ...or tradind it. When i join a online lobby, all i see is SUPRAS, ENZOS, LAMBOS, PEUGEOTS and stuff... cant see anybody cruising nurb in a alfa romeo giulia sprint, or a bmw 2002 '72...or a more interesting car.

There is SEVERAL ways of having fun with low powered cars online... nobody seems to care though..

What your opinion about this?

That car is sooooooo difficult to control when fully tuned, too much power. I would drive it more often if I could control it when maxed out.

I actually buy every car I see under 200 HP or after a certain age in the UCD just because I think they are awesome.

Power is nothing without control. To be fast sometimes you have to slow down. (The X1/X2010, for better or for worst, is insane!!!)

I must be one of the few people who can appreciate both the X2010, and slower cars :dopey:

It takes intense concentration to drive the X2010 on the limit, and the feeling you get once you've pulled off an epic laptime is highly rewarding 👍

Nevertheless, I also enjoy turning off the Driving Aids and taking a stock Suzuki Cappucino around Autumn Ring :sly:

Driving a FF is more fun than anything else. The honda's are jaw dropping on the nordschliefe

Speed is relative to the track and opponents. Offline, you can enjoy great challenges at low speed such as the fiat 500 expert seasonal, which demands really high skills to gold it. Online, I found low speed races are more competitive and realistic, as well as drivers are more mature and respectful. I'm the kind of guy who prefer picking a stylish car and getting into tight and clean races no matter the place I end rather than having the faster car and winning even after bumping walls and opponents.

Well, there are 1031 cars in the game. So there is plenty of cars for everyone. Some like the X1, some like Honda Civics, some like Lambos etc.
Personally, I like to drive the Super GT 300 Cars at the moment. They are just so fun to drive, especially with a few friends or other people in general.

More about the fun for me.

I too find the X1 rather pointless/stupid. It's like a less-luxurious Veyron that can take corners at over 100mph. Yes, it's a technological feat (if the damn thing was actually built), but I don't see the point in it otherwise.

An Alfa TZ2 is far more rewarding to drive. Even a 'Bus is more fun. I've also been experimenting with the power limiter lately and been having a blast with 250-400hp Ferrari's and my personal favourite, a 300hp chrome Jaguar XJ13.

Exotics are fun, no duh, but sometimes you just want to take a break from speed and just enjoy the beautiful physics GT5 has. I think that might be why Kaz put in some "slow" and "worthless" cars that 95% of the GT community views as "pointless premiums". If you really want 500 premiums that aren't "pointless premiums"...Forza is right over there---->

You're right. But it's down to everyone's personal tastes.

I personally like the driving experience more.
