Here is my proposal. A series, very similar... in fact, basically the same, as the Speed World Challenge Touring Car series currently running. This series will also be based on the Speed World Challenge series of real life except (obviously) it is the GT cars. The rules will be the same sorta s*** we saw in the TC championship. REMEMBER: I dont really wanna put time and effort into something no one will run, so, check it out and if you like it, gimmie some feed back and well see what we can do in terms of making this series work. If I do get some support on this I feel I can turn it into one of the premier OLR's running.
RULES
1. Each vehicle type is allowed 4 drivers, the drivers of the vehicle can then choose whether or not they want to team-up with another competitor or just run a private entry.
2. I am hoping for a field around 20 cars, similar to that of the TC championship, but what we get is what we get . . . if there is greater interest I will allow 28 cars MAX.
3. All cars have the following shared mods; 1.5 way LSD, Stage 3 light weight, any tranny you want (full custom, close, superclose w/e), semi racing suspension (unless YOU are told otherwise), racing flywheel, racing brakes, brake balance controller, w/e tires you feel you want (races will be of varied lengths; depending on the round, I will put limitations on the tire available to you.), Finally . . . go get an oil change.
4. After every race a weight penalty proportionate to your finishing position, with a maximum amount of 200kg, will be added. The penalty system is as follows: (the weight should be adjusted in the settings screen as ballast weight)
1st +75
2nd +60
3rd +45
4th +30
5th +15
6th 0
7th -10
8th -20
9th -30
10th -40
11th -50
12+ -60
5. You will carry any weight penalties for the duration of the series, unless you finish 7th or worse and are allowed to take weight off.
6. All standard OLR rules apply dont hit the walls, dont ride the walls, in terms of the AI around you... well rubbins racin as Dorsey Schroeder would say but, dont get cracked out on that s***.
7. Practice all you want, practice must be on an open track with no AI
8. All RACES are to be run ONLY ONCE, if you screw up you screw up, that's racin', live with it, be more careful next week. We will be using our consciences and therefore, the honour system, if you cheat, were not hurt... we dont care, were here to have fun, and if you cheat... well, youre a big loser who has to cheat to win an ONLINE RACING SERIES WITH NO PRIZES!!!!
9. All races will be announced HERE one week before times are due, tracks series tire s*** and the like will also be listed here.
10. MOST IMPORTANT: have a good time, this series was designed to be, above all, FUN, the one attempt race format keeps it so that every dog has its day, the fast guys are fast, and consistent, there is no question there. If one car is too dominant and the weight penalties dont fix that, then some changes will be made. If a couple of cars are WAAAAAY TO SLOW, Ill be willing to allow suggestions on how to speed um up!
TIME SUBMISSION: Send time in via PM, or E-Mail, to me Jonerz (PM) or jonesyjones@nismo.org (e-mail) times must be in no later than 10pm Eastern Standard Time (US) on Sunday, the date that the race ends. Please gimmie your BEST practice time (and only your best,) AND your race time. Points will be awarded for the best practice time, sorta like a poll award.
SCHEDULE (REAL TRACK / GT TRACK)
Sebring International Raceway / Twin Rings Motegi Road Course
St. Petersburg / Cote d'Azur
Road Atlanta / Infineon Stock Car Course
Mid Ohio Sports Car Course / Trial Mountain
Cleveland / New York
Lime Rock Park / Grand Valley East Short Course
Infineon Raceway / Infenion Raceway Sports Car Course
Portland International Raceway / El Capitan
Denver / Seattle
Mosport International Raceway / Mid-Field
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca / Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
In terms of how I decided on the tracks... most were copies of what are in the TC series. As for the changes I put in what I felt were more appropriate.
ELIGIBLE CARS FOR THE GT Series: (Real Car / GT Car-MODS)
Cadillac CTS-V / Mercedes-Benz E-55 AMG-Spoiler, Full Racing Exhaust,
Dodge Viper GTS-R Comp Coupe / Dodge Viper GTS-R Concept (keep it under 600hp plz, do w/e tho.)
Porsche 911 GT3 Cup / Ruf RGT-Full Racing Exhaust, Computer Chip, Engine Balancing, Port Polish TUNING CHANGES MAY COME
Cheverolet Corvette C6 Z06-R / Cheverolet Corvette Z06 (C5)-Spoiler, Full Racing Exhaust, Computer Chip, N/A upgrade 2
Volvo S60-R / Volvo S60-Spoiler, Full Racing Exhaust, Port Polish, Roll Cage, Turbo Stage 2, Racing Intercooler, Engine Balancing, Racing Chip, VCD Controller, AYC (if available) TUNING CHANGES MAY COME
Saleen S 351-R / Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R-Full Racing Exhaust, Supercharger, Racing Chip
**Audi RS6-R / Audi RS6-Spoiler, Full racing exhaust, Port Polish
** I know it doesnt compete but I lLLllLLlLlllLLLLLlllLLLlLlLove that car!
Certain events may require limits on tuning, most notably, Gearbox. What would the advantage of a close or superclose tranny be? For the events that require changes to the full-custom, the changes will be for SOME cars only... just to even the playing field for cars that are generally disadvantaged on that particular track. I have built a Cobra, Z06, RGT, RS6, E-55 and S60 to the series specs. Though it would appear as if the Volvo is at a disadvantage, changes will be made to even the playing field, so DO NOT START BUILDING YOUR CAR YET. I feel, if we get a good discussion going, we should be able to develop quite the series!
PLEASE SEND FEEDBACK, I THINK THIS COULD BE SUCCESSFUL!
EDIT: Car tuning and car set-up will be a struggle to keep within' the regulations. I have had a number of ideas involving the S60 (a car that has been struggling to keep up on my time charts.) First, removing it from the championship, though, I really don't want to. Bonus points, 1. 10 2. 8 VOLVO 9999999... well, not exactly, but something that is fair that will allow for the Volvo to stay in competition. Thirdly, modifying the weight penalty rules for the Volvo, in order to allow it to stay relatively light and hopefully, in that sense, competitive.
EDIT 2: I neglected to give you point scoring information. So here it is.
Pos. Points
1. 10
2. 8
3. 6
4. 4
5. 3
6. 2
7. 1
8. 1
POLE POSITION: 2 Bonus Points. Front Row Start(a.k.a. P2): 1 Bonus Point
EDIT 3: I would like to see a field of the same guys for each round. I don't mind throwing a guy into a seat as a "Special Guest" the way they do it in Porsche Super Cup or even in some rounds of the GT Championship. Consistancy in the grid is all the work I ask of you, the competitor, in making this series run.
EDIT 4: This is another idea on how to even the field. It will seperate us from the real series but, I think it may be something cool. I was thinking, put the Volvo in GT2, and add, Mustang GT, Mitsubishi CG-3 Tarmac, Mitsubishi Lanser Evolution VII and VIII to the field. This way, we can strengthen the field as well as get some of the hot-hatch/tuner guys involved. Again your support is KEY here. It would be greatly appreciated if I was to recieve some feedback from the loyal GTPers. Thanks in advance.
