Here is my proposal. A series, very similar... in fact, basically the same, as the Speed World Challenge Touring Car series currently running. This series will also be based on the Speed World Challenge series of “real life” except (obviously) it is the GT cars. The rules will be the same sorta s*** we saw in the TC championship. REMEMBER: I don’t really wanna put time and effort into something no one will run, so, check it out and if you like it, gimmie some feed back and we’ll see what we can do in terms of making this series work. If I do get some support on this I feel I can turn it into one of the premier OLR's running.

RULES
1. Each vehicle type is allowed 4 drivers, the drivers of the vehicle can then choose whether or not they want to team-up with another competitor or just run a private entry.

2. I am hoping for a field around 20 cars, similar to that of the TC championship, but what we get is what we get . . . if there is greater interest I will allow 28 cars MAX.

3. All cars have the following shared mods; 1.5 way LSD, Stage 3 light weight, any tranny you want (full custom, close, superclose w/e), semi racing suspension (unless YOU are told otherwise), racing flywheel, racing brakes, brake balance controller, w/e tires you feel you want (races will be of varied lengths; depending on the round, I will put limitations on the tire available to you.), Finally . . . go get an oil change.

4. After every race a weight penalty proportionate to your finishing position, with a maximum amount of 200kg, will be added. The penalty system is as follows: (the weight should be adjusted in the settings screen as ballast weight)

1st +75
2nd +60
3rd +45
4th +30
5th +15
6th 0
7th -10
8th -20
9th -30
10th -40
11th -50
12+ -60

5. You will carry any weight penalties for the duration of the series, unless you finish 7th or worse and are allowed to take weight off.

6. All standard OLR rules apply don’t hit the walls, don’t ride the walls, in terms of the AI around you... well rubbin’s racin’ as Dorsey Schroeder would say but, don’t get cracked out on that s***.

7. Practice all you want, practice must be on an open track with no AI

8. All RACES are to be run ONLY ONCE, if you screw up you screw up, that's racin', live with it, be more careful next week. We will be using our consciences and therefore, the honour system, if you cheat, we’re not hurt... we don’t care, we’re here to have fun, and if you cheat... well, you’re a big loser who has to cheat to win an ONLINE RACING SERIES WITH NO PRIZES!!!! :dunce:

9. All races will be announced HERE one week before times are due, tracks series tire s*** and the like will also be listed here.

10. MOST IMPORTANT: have a good time, this series was designed to be, above all, FUN, the one attempt race format keeps it so that every dog has its day, the fast guys are fast, and consistent, there is no question there. If one car is too dominant and the weight penalties don’t fix that, then some changes will be made. If a couple of cars are WAAAAAY TO SLOW, I’ll be willing to allow suggestions on how to speed ‘um up!

TIME SUBMISSION: Send time in via PM, or E-Mail, to me Jonerz (PM) or jonesyjones@nismo.org (e-mail) times must be in no later than 10pm Eastern Standard Time (US) on Sunday, the date that the race ends. Please gimmie your BEST practice time (and only your best,) AND your race time. Points will be awarded for the best practice time, sorta like a poll award.

SCHEDULE (REAL TRACK / GT TRACK)

Sebring International Raceway / Twin Rings Motegi Road Course

St. Petersburg / Cote d'Azur

Road Atlanta / Infineon Stock Car Course

Mid Ohio Sports Car Course / Trial Mountain

Cleveland / New York

Lime Rock Park / Grand Valley East Short Course

Infineon Raceway / Infenion Raceway Sports Car Course

Portland International Raceway / El Capitan

Denver / Seattle

Mosport International Raceway / Mid-Field

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca / Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

In terms of how I decided on the tracks... most were copies of what are in the TC series. As for the changes I put in what I felt were more appropriate.

ELIGIBLE CARS FOR THE GT Series: (Real Car / GT Car-MODS)

Cadillac CTS-V / Mercedes-Benz E-55 AMG-Spoiler, Full Racing Exhaust,

Dodge Viper GTS-R Comp Coupe / Dodge Viper GTS-R Concept (keep it under 600hp plz, do w/e tho.)

Porsche 911 GT3 Cup / Ruf RGT-Full Racing Exhaust, Computer Chip, Engine Balancing, Port Polish TUNING CHANGES MAY COME

Cheverolet Corvette C6 Z06-R / Cheverolet Corvette Z06 (C5)-Spoiler, Full Racing Exhaust, Computer Chip, N/A upgrade 2

Volvo S60-R / Volvo S60-Spoiler, Full Racing Exhaust, Port Polish, Roll Cage, Turbo Stage 2, Racing Intercooler, Engine Balancing, Racing Chip, VCD Controller, AYC (if available) TUNING CHANGES MAY COME

Saleen S 351-R / Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R-Full Racing Exhaust, Supercharger, Racing Chip

**Audi RS6-R / Audi RS6-Spoiler, Full racing exhaust, Port Polish
** I know it doesn’t compete but I lLLllLLlLlllLLLLLlllLLLlLlLove that car!

Certain events may require limits on tuning, most notably, Gearbox. What would the advantage of a close or superclose tranny be? For the events that require changes to the full-custom, the changes will be for SOME cars only... just to even the playing field for cars that are generally disadvantaged on that particular track. I have built a Cobra, Z06, RGT, RS6, E-55 and S60 to the series specs. Though it would appear as if the Volvo is at a disadvantage, changes will be made to even the playing field, so DO NOT START BUILDING YOUR CAR YET. I feel, if we get a good discussion going, we should be able to develop quite the series!

PLEASE SEND FEEDBACK, I THINK THIS COULD BE SUCCESSFUL!

EDIT: Car tuning and car set-up will be a struggle to keep within' the regulations. I have had a number of ideas involving the S60 (a car that has been struggling to keep up on my time charts.) First, removing it from the championship, though, I really don't want to. Bonus points, 1. 10 2. 8 VOLVO 9999999... well, not exactly, but something that is fair that will allow for the Volvo to stay in competition. Thirdly, modifying the weight penalty rules for the Volvo, in order to allow it to stay relatively light and hopefully, in that sense, competitive.

EDIT 2: I neglected to give you point scoring information. So here it is.

Pos. Points
1. 10
2. 8
3. 6
4. 4
5. 3
6. 2
7. 1
8. 1

POLE POSITION: 2 Bonus Points. Front Row Start(a.k.a. P2): 1 Bonus Point

EDIT 3: I would like to see a field of the same guys for each round. I don't mind throwing a guy into a seat as a "Special Guest" the way they do it in Porsche Super Cup or even in some rounds of the GT Championship. Consistancy in the grid is all the work I ask of you, the competitor, in making this series run.

EDIT 4: This is another idea on how to even the field. It will seperate us from the real series but, I think it may be something cool. I was thinking, put the Volvo in GT2, and add, Mustang GT, Mitsubishi CG-3 Tarmac, Mitsubishi Lanser Evolution VII and VIII to the field. This way, we can strengthen the field as well as get some of the hot-hatch/tuner guys involved. Again your support is KEY here. It would be greatly appreciated if I was to recieve some feedback from the loyal GTPers. Thanks in advance.

👍 Jonerz 👍

Man this sure sounds interesting, id enter in a heartbeat. We had a car in the real series last year, finished 8th in our only start.

I think having those tuner cars included will help make more unique racing, and by having so much cars, it will be hard having the same car dominate all races.

hey man...
thanks for the response it was getting a little scary, i put that out there and no one responded... hopefully we can sorta get folks goin' for the idea. i was brain storming today on how to get this series rollin'. basically i just kept coming up with more cars for the second class. i think this series could be a good one. we just need the support is all!

👍 Jonerz 👍

i was going to do this after the WTCC but if you want to that is cool, might i recommend the cadilac Cien as the CTS though...more on target IMO, and its easy enough to get...just do the special conditions rally d'umbria, easy and you're rock solid.

I don't know, maybe I can help you run it since you've never done it before. Besides, looks like that is all I am good for, apparently i'm no good at racing anymore!

yah... i got the cien, problem being 760hp is a tad too much for this series. i understand we've... gone a little overboard (in terms of staying close to real life) but I'd like to stay between 490-610 class 1 and 395-405 class 2.

thanks for the responce, im really starting to think 'bout that Cien... hmm, you got me thinking (me... thinking??? nooooooooooooooo...) anywho thanks again.

competing would be a good thing (we need drivers) but the assist on running this would be cool.

thanks a lot!

I'll drive in it, i'll take the slowest car so it doesn't look bad.

haha! way to be! i suppose i should get started on an entrants list. here's the deal, we'll work with the cars i got goin' on... from there we will expand the series and solve the problems etc. so ill assume everyone that has expressed interest will be on the entrants list... just post a responce like this:

Driver Name:
Team: Team Mate(Optional):
Car:

Start building, modding and developing those cars!

just a thought...if you use the arcade mode, and just tune with the Quick tune that would allow you to control the cien power down. your series, but the ccraker has a great idea going with the arcade mode and quick tune...granted this takes away the ability to put a wing on it, but it allows you to control the competition level, laps, and everything...i wish i had thought of it before i started this series, it makes alot of sense, and makes your races alot more genuine.just start all cars with -10% weight and use the weight penalty system by increasing or decreasing the weight percentage...like if you finish first place you have to add 5% weight, 4% for second..etc..etc... and use the same decrease method....just an idea....

I want to be a special guest from a Japanese series, lol. Perhaps I like the RX-8 a little much!

I'll join. I wanted to run in the TC one but didn't get in in time.

I will say that it's pretty damn rude to steal yourlocalgod's format, rules, wording, and everything verbatim right out of his posts. It's particularly rude since he made it clear that he intended to do a GT series later.

It was also pretty ballsy of you to post it in the Official Race Series board.

I realize you added a little bit at the beginnning where you said it was the same, but you could have at least taken the time to rewrite the information in your own words instead of just ripping him off.

There are plenty of advantages to doing it in Arcade mode, I do agree. But I was hoping to run it very similarly to the way you are running your Touring Car series... keep it similar in the realism of sanctioning bodies type deal.

i like the idea of a gt serise but im not sure if i like eveything about the way your doing it.

i think your starting this a little too soon. it might even be better if we got a few people running this show. i think theres a few, including myself that all wanted to make a simular serise based on the succes of yourlocals challenge. anyway there nothing stoping you from doing your challenge. i just would hate it if for some reason it did not turn out too well. but most important i dont want to see the 'idea' get worn out. theres real potential for a very great serise, i just think it needs to be done in such a way that it WILL bring in the masses.

anyway that does not mean im not interested and dependings on what direction this goes ill deffently will want to join. if i dont join ill start something else after the scca challenge of yourlocals. iv got millions of challenge ideas that back to the gt3 days that i never had the time to run.

Seconded.

Might I ask what car, and where you ran?
Yeah, we ran a Dodge Viper Comp Coupe, numer #98, driver was Gary Bockman. We ran portland, got 8th. And if anyone was there, we were the ones who got yelled at by the officials because gary laid some rubber by our pits.

BTW, if anybody needs a teamate fort his searies, give me a PM

Welcome to the series, Sanjko. You are now a confirmed entrant.

👍 Jonerz 👍

What's your ride, microrcdude? I'm also gonna need Driver and car info plz.
Just to confirm competitors in the series.

hey...

thanks for the reply. i suppose i should let people know im always interested in a helping hand. also... if you are interested in running but are worried about time, i wouldn't want people to feel as if this series is cutting into other OLR time, or work, social lives (a.k.a real life, yah, im not familiar with it either... ) anywho, enter and race when you can. this series started as a cool idea, same as all yours id imagine. im always looking for help, i hope that no one is discouraged by my whoring of yourlocals idea or what the other folks had in mind for a similar series. for me, this is just a lil project based on one of the better series ive seen (yourlocalgod's tc challenge and obviously the GT series from "real life"... there are those words again wtf?!) but i am more than willing to go beyond all out to make it THE BEST (yeah, right... good luck Jonerz...) OLR in terms of competition, popularity and therefore, overall success. anywho... ive lost my train of thought... jeez, this series is in good hands, eh?? yeah, if you wanna help out; post here, or pm me. same with racing... it would be greatly appreciated if i got more than, what... three(?!) competitors. a lot of this has to do with people wanting to not "put out" for a series that is going no where. don't build your car till we got 15-18 competitors. (unless you can afford it.) i suppose i could do more to push the series, i.e. open up a Pre-Season testing forum, such as the one from the Super Taikyu N1 series run by GN+ (might i reccomend that series too? it kicks ass!)

that is pretty much all i got for now.

👍 Jonerz 👍

for duke and everyone, i hope that this adressed my stealing of the concept and stuff from yourlocalgod and other gentlemen racers. i do appologize, i felt we could run the series somewhat simultainiously. if anyone is truly pissed, im sorry. lets just get those big power GT cars on the track ASAP. hopefully you guys will be willing to run (though i suspect for some reason you wouldn't.) i hope i didnt cause to much of a problem by doing this. if anyone wants to help out of take over or whatever, im looking for aide from people and i am also willing to take a back seat to the more experienced OLRers and GTPlaneters.

I vote for waiting until YLG finishes up the current SCCA series, and I bet most of the racers who would consider racing in this are already in that series. Plus, I would think it much more respectful to let YLG continue his plans and start up the "GT Version" when he has the time, instead of just going ahead and doing it when he already stated those plans months ago.

Not sure how new you are to OLR, but the biggest part of it is respect for your fellow racers, not how fast you are, or how interesting you can make things.

Stealing and "whoring" aside... this series looks pretty cool. The multi-class racing seems cool. D'you think I could use the RGT for the upcoming season?

is this your first challenge Jonerz?

maybe a good idea is to do something smaller till we know whats going on with yourlocal. like make it one race at one track and have no deadline for time submission. and deependings on how simple you want it; go with eather one car or try to make a class of cars. these events tend to be popular cause anyone with a couple of hours can put in the effort and be happy with the event. and it does not take weeks. remember timeing is everything. good ideas can go unused if people are busy with other challenges. i belive that theres going to be another boards challenge and that going to take alot of time with most of the top OLR.

again, in no way am i saying not to do your race, i just dont want to see this 'fail'. make a smaller race for the time being. when we get around the end of yourlocals challenge maybe we can get a bunch of people involved (im thinking a few people) and make a challenge that will work. that means properly organizing, testing and debating though all the rules. testing will be the main thing.

I think bobman may be right about this. I also think we should wait until the boards challenge and TC championship is done. That way we get more racers from that series as well.

im not mad that he wants to run this series, i like to see that i inspire excitement for another series, that makes me feel like im doing a decent job. link had a great idea, why dont you open this up as a one or two race deal with no deadline and no real set field or points. then as we wrap up the SWTCC we (jonerz, myself, and link if he is willing) create the GT series, we all have great ideas and i think a good well thought project concieved between the 3 of us, could be an exceptional series....just an idea.
