Yeah, this is the Spider-Man that most fans have been waiting for. Venom, BTW, yeah freaking sweet...

...I just want to know how much he will be like how he is the comic books. Are they going to make Venom the big monster that he is supposed to be?

This movie is going to rock, no doubts about it. Next summer should be a good one for movies with Spider Man and Halo having a short period of time between them.

Venom isn't really a monster, he does good things, he saves people, he just doesn't like Spiderman, Carnage on the other hand hurts people. A lot. I'm looking forward to this film a lot as well.

Odd, the picture seems to be gone.

Well, here is the link to the gallery, it still has the thumbnail.

The picture does show sharp pointy teeth, so they are going to try and get the monsterous look to him.

But as L4S said, he is a reluctant hero, has his own comic and everything, but he has a pure hatred of Spiderman and once he goes on a rampage to kill him anyone in his way is just considered collateral damage. :indiff:

Well, I meant monster more in the "size and shape" sense than in his actions. I do recall on several occasions Venom and Spider-Man working together in a loose-alliance, but it was short-lived.

...Had to buy the kick-ass Venom T-Shirt we sell at Steve and Barry's the other day. Got to be prepared for when the movie comes out!

Sad that venom is a bit on the ... emo side.

I don't like how they've made his personality apparently in this, from what I hear he's pretty "psycho"...when really Eddy Brock was never really crazy...he just hated Peter Parker.

Anyone else see this yet?? I searched and havent seen anyone reply or talk about the movie. I thought it was very good and loaded with action but it was very depressing and dark. Left a knot in my stomach when I left the theater.
Venum was just awesome. I never read the comic books or hardly watched the cartoons but dang he was definetly one of the coolest characters I have seen in a while.

I think they tried too hard to make it bigger than the last two movies. It was worth a watch but not as good as 1 or 2. they shouldn't have included 3 characters. Sandman just didn't quite fit the bill for me, he seem very contradictory as a character, for example he's not a heartless killer but then he didn't think twice about trying to kill spiderman, holding a hostage and bashing cops left right and center. And Venom, he really deserved to be in a film without any other non-spiderman characters taking story time away from his character development. I was let down by the way they went about including him. i was actually hoping that we wouldn't see Venom until the very end of the film perhaps and then it would be the next Spiderman film where hey'd explore his character.

They have set the scene to include Carnage should another film ever be made, but we didn't get very much of Venom at all. The film kind of glossed over what type of a character he was completley and just showed that he's an evil being that wants Spiderman dead. While Venom did want Spiderman dead, he was still a hero of sorts. This film didn't apprear, to me, to even make any attempts to explore him.

It was watchable, but imo the film just did so many things wrong and felt so overloaded with and as a result, unfocused in places that it left me dissapointed.

Well, I put it in the What Have You Seen Lately Thread.

Venom has always been the coolest character in the Spiderman universe. Even when rushed it is obvious that he is excellent. I think they spent too much time on how dark the suit made Peter become and not enough time on how much and why Venom has a psychopathic hatred of Spider-Man. That final battle should have raged on for ages.

I think they tried too hard to make it bigger than the last two movies.
All except for teh part they should have - Venom.

Sandman just didn't quite fit the bill for me, he seem very contradictory as a character, for example he's not a heartless killer but then he didn't think twice about trying to kill spiderman, holding a hostage and bashing cops left right and center.
I agree. They barely touch on how he is trying to save his daughter and he seems to go from desperation to sociopathic and back.

And Venom, he really deserved to be in a film without any other non-spiderman characters taking story time away from his character development. My hope was that black-suit Spiderman ends up nearly killing Sandman, but Flint's plees to let him save his daughter pull the good guy Peter through and the bell tower scene is after he comes to terms with who he is and decides to remove the suit. Then after he saves the day, stopping Goblin Jr (I liked that) and Sandman, we cut at the very end to Brock finding the pool of weakend symbiote ooze and Venom jumping at the camera cuts to the credits.

They have set the scene to include Carnage should another film ever be made, but we didn't get very much of Venom at all. The guy that I saw teh movie with said that he heard (take that for what you will) that Sam Raimi hated the Venom character and never wanted to do him. I have to question that considering how open they left it for Carnage and even a possible return of Venom. To see what I mean, highlight my spoilerish reference here: You see Venom ooze crawl away after he blows up, and Eddie completely disappearing seemed odd.

It was watchable, but imo the film just did so many things wrong and felt so overloaded with and as a result, unfocused in places that it left me dissapointed.
It is the same as X-Men 3 was.

Although, I loved Bruce Campbell's character, even if it was in the section that should have been left out.

See my review of Spider-Man 3 here

Basically, there were too many bad guys fighting around in a generally decent story that did a good job fleshing out character identities, but left the true comic book fans disappointed. its not Spider-Man 2, but I'd say it is on an even-keel with Spider-Man 1, which was still a pretty good movie.

...My brig problem was that Spider-Man just had such an X3 feel to it, just kinda unsatisfying, as it kinda threw continuity to the wind...

We just watched X-men 3 a couple days ago again and I actually like Xmen 3 quite a bit more than Spider-Man 3. They are all great movies but I would probably put Spider-Man 3 at the very bottom.

Spiderman 3: easy to sit through but hard to enjoy. A major disapointment coming off the first two incredible movies. That and emo-spidey/eric foreman venom...come on -_-

yea I didnt like emo peter parker. and when spiderman came to the rescue to fight venom and sandman and he flew by the american flag symbolically flowing in the wind. way to exploit both masses and induce your propaganda.

Yeah, I remember the flag scene, I just ignored it.

1) Emo Spidey rocked! Too bad we didn't have a 3/4 shot in his bathroom mirror... [/MySpace joke]

2) Aw come'on guys. A little patriotism never hurt now and then. Spider-Man is probably one of the most iconic characters that represents America's most-famous city. Remember when Spider-Man 2 came out after 9/11? Remember how much patriotism was evident in that with the big flag, the fire-fighters down at Ground Zeto, etc?

...Spider-Man is about as American as a hero can get (well, outside Capitan America of course...), so I'm not about to complain. The comic books are pretty much the same way too...
