Ok so they're filming Spiderman 3 here in Los Angeles, and its on 4th Street and Main in downtown. What I saw today was a bank that has had its windows and door all blown...my question is, who will spiderman be fighting with this time?? the also had these 2 giant cranes with this camera on a string that flew down from uptop..to near the front part of the building......anyone know who he's fighting??? and for anyone who lives here in L.A the shooting is taking place on 4th street and Main..in downtown Los Angeles...across the street from Tony's.

ok here's a picture i took of the set.... i couldnt get a shot of the front of the bank...only foot traffic was allowed...and i was in my car so this was the only shot i was able to get...

According to this article the picture of Spidey sitting mournfully in teh rain is not in black and white. If that is the case then he is wearing a black suit. A black suit means that he is being mournful over a death or it is when he first gets the Venom suit (a symbiotic alien lifeform Spidey suit). Don't forget that Topher Grace is constantly listed and mentioned as a villain, but never listed as who.

I would imagine the storyline going along the lines of Harry Osborne sending Sandman out to kill Spiderman. Spiderman manages to stop Sandman along the way. Now this can go one of multiple ways at this point.

1) While fighting Sandman Mary Jane gets killed and Peter creates a black Spiderman suit in mourning. Harry in his anger finally decides to become the Green Goblin. He did discover his father's hidden room at the end of the first movie. In this case we close out a trilogy the way we started it, with Spiderman having to fight a vile Green Goblin who knows Peter's secret identity and can use it against him. Maybe even Aunt May gets killed by Harry, who is insane like his father but also being driven by pure emotion. He doesn't care who he kills. After all of this death Peter Parker decides to never be Spiderman again because as he feared he cannot be Spiderman and expect those around him to be safe. Or he eventually dies from his wounds. Not true to the comic, but he goes out a hero and it gives closure to a trilogy. (In this I have no clue who Topher Grace would be, although early rumors were Electro)

2) Somehow Peter discovers the Venom suit. He feels weird when he uses it even though his powers are reliable and much greater. He puts it aside because Mary Jane doesn't like who he becomes when he is wearing it. Then when he battles Sandman he must use the Venom suit so that he can defeat him. The battle gives Venom enough power to find a new symbiotic host (Topher Grace) and he becomes the most powerful villain Spiderman has ever met. He defeats Venom in the end, hopefully not completely. Venom was shot into space only to return to Earth and finding his host Eddie Brock, who hates Peter Parker (creating the perfect symbiotic relationship) and freeing him from prison. Venom does know Spiderman's identity in the comics. After Venom is defeated Harry decides the only way that Peter will be taken care of will be to kill him himself and we see him holding the Green Goblin mask as the movie ends. This leads us into a sequel.

3) Aunt May dies early on by natural causes, at Sandman's hands, or in the Sandman battle and Peter puts on the black Spidey suit. Then Harry becomes Green Goblin. This would be extremely wrong since Aunt May has always been the solid rock that Peter can return to, even when Peter had problems with Mary Jane. Aunt May is his only unconditional solid foundation. I am hoping it isn't this once, which is why I haven't thought enough about this scenario to give many details of the possibilities.

Black Suit - aka Spider-Venom

Now, Kirsten Dunst let slip in an interview that Topher Grace would be playing Venom. However, Sam Raimi is on record saying that Venom will never be in the movies as a villain. Of course, Venom is known to avoid killing innocents, but Eddie Brock is also insane and necessary casualties and innocents are hard to separate. Perhaps the movie Venom will just be a rival superhero, much like Eddie Brock is a rival photographer who was jealous because he could never get a picture of Spiderman and Peter always did. Perhaps he becomes Venom to gain his own superhero status and get his own exclusives.

Rumors, rumors.

I am hoping for a good hardcore evil insane Venom. They already opened the door with Jonah Jameson's son as the astronaut in Spiderman 2. In the animated series he is the one who unknowingly brings Venom back. Too much connects for the Venom storyline to work.

A new HD trailer for it is on nbc.com but I cannot watch it. You need QuickTime and that has too much spyware. Have any of you seen it?

QuickTime has spyware? It hasn't put anything more on my PC than Media Player or Real Player does.

It should play in iTunes, if you have that.

It should be on You Tube soon anyway.

Here's my guess. The third movie will center on Harry Osborne and and Sandman.

Due to the origin of the comic book black suit (secret wars (which I actually have IRL)) they needed a slightly different origination of the suit. Sandman and revenge comsumate this suit, and the Peter Parkers genetics give "birth" to the suit. The suit is part of his DNA and an extension of himself. Black = hatred. The suit comes out as PP searches and battles against Sandman (in the first 1/2 hour of the movie). Defeating Sandman gives rise to battling the Green goblin. Harry Osborne then decides to take on his fathers legacy and thus begins the major portion/battle of the movie. The black suit begins to take over PP's life and driving him away from MJ. PP finally realizes, after a horrific battle where the suit drives him to nearly kill Osborne, that the suit is turning him into something that he can't control.

Throughout the movie, Eddie Brock has been taking pictures of Spidey, and getting usurped by Peter Parker pushing him to hate spiderman.

PP runs to the church bells and manages to break free of the suit, which slips through the floor and finds Eddie Brock, bonding with him to create Venom.

Thus Spiderman 4 ($) is set-up.

my question is, who will spiderman be fighting with this time??

Spidy will be fighting:

1) Sandman; aka Flint Marko:

S3_sandman_punch.jpg

A small-time thug who has a wife and daughter. An accident gives him the ability to change his body into malleable sand, transforming him into Sandman. He is now believed to be the person responsible for Uncle Ben's death.

2) The Hobgoblin/New Goblin; aka Harry Osborn:

New_Goblin.jpg

The son of Norman Osborn and Peter Parker's former best friend who believes that Spider-Man murdered his father. After learning Peter Parker is Spider-Man, Harry becomes the New Goblin to battle his former friend directly.

3) Venom; aka Eddie Brock Jr:
800px-Venom-nbc.png

A photographer at the Daily Bugle. He grows increasingly embittered toward Peter Parker, who beats Brock to photography gigs and has attracted the attention of Brock's girl, Gwen Stacy.

...And on the topic of Venom, Peter Parker will be at odds with himself when the symbiotic costume becomes attached to him...

* Further explanations from Wiki

...What will be interesting is who he will fight after this one. Venom is deserving of an entire film within itself (IMO), and that could lead to one with Carnage as well. Then you get into major enemies like The Shocker, Electro, The Lizard (Dr. Connors has already been in all-three movies), Mysterio (one of my favorites), Chameleon, The Vulture, Rhino, and several others...

...I'm looking forward to a presumed cross-franchise film, as I would assume Marvel would have to do one if Warner Brothers can pull-off the Justice League movie they keep talking about. I'm all for an Avengers, or at least a "New Avengers" movie with the obvious characters; Spider-Man, Iron Man (already in the works), Captain America (in the works as well), Wolverine (due for his own movie), and Daredevil.

Hobgoblin wasn't Osborn...

I also pointed out the PS3 font being the same back when the prototype was introduced.

Hobgoblin wasn't Osborn...

Good point. I believe he wasn't in the comics, but the TV show throws a curve, as he was there, for some reason living up to his father's expectations. I know I've been calling him the Hobgoblin since S2, and I doubt I'm the only one. I do see that Osborn is often referred to as "Green Goblin II," which does make sense, but I guess we're just picking teeth here.

Either way, I'm more excited to see Venom than anything, as I think most Spider-Man fans are. I know I'll have my Venom gear on when I go to the theater this spring...

Indeed you did. However, there are mispellings in that picture, and Vin Diesel is not connected to any spiderman movie. Leading me to suspect the image is a fan pic and not an official release.

I also believe that Venom deserves his own film. Spiderman 4 could have Dr. Connors as the minor villian and Venom as the major villian. Sp3 would have a classroom scene with Connrs and his regeneraion experiment as a backdrop. Thus beginning the piecing together of Sp4.

There was also a rumor that Bruce Campbell would be Mysterio in a cameo.

In the comics Harry takes on the role of the Green Goblin. The Hobgoblin is a slightly unstable guy, not related to the Osborns, who finds a Green Goblin secret lair and the journal of Norman Osborn. See Marvel's site for more details.

Venom does deserve his own film, but whether that happens is a different story. They could always spin Venom into his own movie. He always was a reluctant hero type, he just had a different definition for necesary casulaties, and a hatred of Spidey.

There was also a rumor that Bruce Campbell would be Mysterio in a cameo.
Rami said, very early on, that there would be four villains and Bruce Campbell did a lot of talk about his playing a villain. However, after rumors started leaking about it being a Mysterio cameo at the beginning of the film everyone got quiet and started treating it like the Venom rumors - everything makes it seem obvious, but no one will admit to it.

Bruce Campbell would make an excellent Mysterio though.

...Bruce Campbell would may an excellent anything. It is a shame that he is such a cult hero in cinema, and yet he has never been able to strike it big. I love the Evil Dead movies, and although they may be a bit campy and a little corny (see Army of Darkness), they still show Bruce to be a pretty darn good actor. I love the Old Spice commercials with him as well... I laugh and laugh, and yet my brother and my mother look at me like I'm an idiot.

On the topic of a Venom movie, I wouldn't rule it out. I would largely base the possibilities of that on the performance of Spider-Man 3 at the theater and how much the fans scream about Venom on TV and on the Internet. His own movie, without Spider-Man, could easily be done, and with characters like Wolverine possibly getting their own franchises, it isn't out of the realm of possibility.

There have been rumors floating about that this may be the last Spider-Man movie for Maguire, based on a interview he did:

IGN.com
"To me it seems like this is a natural point for the team to break up because we have a lot of story conclusions that were going along for the main characters for the first two movies and we kind of tie almost everything up for the third movie," he says. "It feels like a trilogy to me and it feels like the end."

That would suck if he dropped out, but I'm positive they could find a replacement if necessary.

---

I'm still foaming at the mouth over the JLA movie that apparently is moving faster than most people had anticipated. Considering that they will be using all of the current characters and story lines from the current crop of movies (Batman Begins, Superman Returns, new Aquaman and Wonder Woman movies, etc.), that would be most-impressive to see them all together...

...Now if we can just get an Avengers movie....

I just sent the final disc from Briscoe County Jr back into Netflix. That was a glorious 8 discs of fun.

Wolverine deserves hi own movie. There is so much there that it can't be grouped in with a team-based movie. There is also talk of a Magneto movie to tell his story from concentration camp to villain, basically showing how the X-Men initialy got formed.

There have been rumors floating about that this may be the last Spider-Man movie for Maguire, based on a interview he did:
His interview does bring up points about this movie, which are obvious just from the trailers: Uncle Ben's death gets avenged, he and Harry settle outtheir dispute, however that happens, and he eventually marries Mary Jane....and they live happily ever after. Of course, the comics reached that point 20 years ago and if they want to continue the average guy with powers concept they can easily pick up the marital stress you encounter being a superhero. MJ doesn't like being placed second behind the rest of the world. God knows I have enough issues that focused on that aspect for a minimum of one page. Then there is always the MJ death and tons of storylines.

But if they wanted to end it this is a point that seems logical without many, if any loose ends.

You mean Jake (Don't call me Toby) Gylenhall? I know I spelled that wrong.

I just hope they don't try tying it into Smallville, where the Green Arrow has been trying to get Clark to join him in a superhero team.

...Now if we can just get an Avengers movie....
Sorry, they just killed the Captain yesterday. :( I forgot to go out and buy the issue and I bet it is gone by now. 50 years of patriotic propaganda in spandex, dead. I hate politics.

What? NOOOOOOO!

I've been trying to follow the Civil War series (I'm not an avid comic-book reader), and that is certainly a surprise. Does this also end the Ultimate Avenger and Ultimate Capitan America series(s)?

The Cap has always been one of my favorites, and I'd hate to see him go...

...Although the Wiki makes it sound like the Punisher will take over the role of The Cap somehow...
